Lotions/ Creams -Palmers - Palmer's Shea Butter Lotion
rated 1 of 5
Peaches1027 3/6/2008 11:28:00 AM

I find this lotion to be extremely ineffective. I can apply three layers of it over the course of a half an hour, and my skin is still dry after it absorbs into my skin. I have about 1/4 of the bottle left, and I've lost my patience and I'm throwing the rest away. It's utterly useless and not worth the space it's taking up in my room.

Eyeliner -Lancome - Le Stylo Waterproof in Fumee
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 3/1/2008 9:46:00 PM

Lancome eyeliner is the only brand I will wear because it lasts all day. I have olive skin, and this is a perfect gray for me. I don't mind that the pencil doesn't sharpen, and I don't mind the thicker line either. I like a smudged look. My only complaint with this product is the cap never stays on and it cracks too. If my next one cracks, I'm going to insist on a replacement. Otherwise, great product.

Lipstick -Lancome - Colour Design-Camisole
rated 3 of 5

I received this as a GWP, and I really wanted to love it. It's a beautiful shimmery neutral pink in the tube, but it has too much of a cool blue undertone. I have fair to medium olive skin, and it literally turned my lips so blue my DH thought I needed CPR. I'm glad this was free. EDIT: 3/6/08: I've worn this a few more times, and when worn with pink blush, namely Nars Angelika, it looks very nice. I've upgraded it to three lippies.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorstay Soft and Smooth lipstick
rated 4 of 5
Peaches1027 3/1/2008 9:15:00 PM

I own this in three colors, Sheer Plum, Sheer Bronze and Pecan Pleasure. I buy this on sale, and for the price it's a great lipcolor. I have not noticed an odor, it is not drying to me, and the color lasts for about four hours. I think this is oustanding for something I get for five bucks. The Sheer Plum is actually bright berry, but I like it. The Sheer Bronze is orangey brown, and I like that too. My favorite is Pecan Pleasure. It is a deep neutral, and it's not a sheer which is why it lasts the longest (five to six hours), and why it's so rich and creamy. I plan on purchasing at least one more in a new color for spring/summer. If you buy this when it's on sale, especially buy one get one free, it's well worth the money. I took off one lippie because the packaging is cheap and the full price cost of $10.00 is ridiculous in my opinion.

Blush -Lancome - Blush Subtil- Bronze Glow
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 3/1/2008 9:06:00 PM

Like all colors in the Lancome Blush Subtil line, this is perfection. It's a pale bronze with golden and peach tones in it. On my fair to medium olive skin it blends perfectly and makes me look naturally bright and slightly rosy in a peach way. It's hard to describe, but let's just say this is a great neutral blush that anyone can wear. I never mind paying $30.00 for this product, and I own almost all the colors in the line.

Liquid -Rimmel - Lasting Finish Enriched w/ Minerals
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 3/1/2008 9:03:00 PM

This ties with CoverGirl Lash Blast as one of the best drugstore products ever made. I always wear high-end foundations, but I received a trial of this in a magazine I subscribe to and decided to try it. I went to Walgreen's the very next day and bought. This is absolute perfection. The color blends seamlessly, the formula is easy to blend and dries quickly, and it controls shine and minimizes my pores all day long. Truly miraculous, and it only costs seven dollars! I enhance its performance by using DHC Velvet Touch over my moisturizer, then the Lasting Finish, and dust Mineral Veil on top. This combination makes my middle-aged oily skin with large pores look flawless, smooth and even until I wash it off at night. You will love this. I have fair to medium olive skin, and I purchased 103 True Ivory. I received Soft Beige in the sample and it worked fine, but I always go a little lighter because I have oily skin. You have to try this, ladies. You might never spend $45.00 on foundation again. I know I won't.

Primer/ Corrector -DHC - Velvet Skin Coat
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 2/24/2008 10:57:00 PM

I received a sample of this in a catalog and immediately purchased it. It makes my pores look smaller, and it smooths and evens my complexion. This is way better than Smashbox, and cheaper. You need less than the size of a pea, so this will last forever, making the price more reasonable. I can wear Velvet Touch, a couple dots of concealer, and then brush on Bare Minerals Mineral Veil and I have perfect skin all day and night until I wash it off.

Cleansers -DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 2/24/2008 10:54:00 PM

I received this as a sample in a catalog, and immediate purchased it after trying it. I received my order in four days. This is a wonderful cleanser, especially in the winter. It somehow manages to take off your makeup and make your skin feel clean and fresh and soft and moisturized. I can't explain it. I have used olive oil from the bottle that I purchased at the grocery store on my face for a few months now, but DHC products are way better. I'm hooked. They are expensive, though.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Pure White Linen- Light Breeze
rated 1 of 5
Peaches1027 2/24/2008 10:44:00 PM

This smells like a Chanel Chance knockoff. Its freshness is similar to Chance, but it has a sharpness to it that makes it smell kind of unpleasant and weak. I'm not impressed, and I agree that EL needs to come up with an original name for its next new fragrance. Their overuse of existing names is comical and in my opinion cheapens the brand.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Matte Stain for Lips
rated 2 of 5
Peaches1027 2/8/2008 4:47:00 PM

This product reinforces the fact that my love affair with Bobbi Brown is coming to an end. Her products just don't measure to other brands anymore. I was attracted to the color (Candy) and the packaging, and that's why I purchased this. I love the tiny size, and I love that it has a mirror inside. So cute! The product, however, is dry, grainy, and boring. It does brighten up my lips and it lasts a long time, but I don't like the way my lips feel. I probably won't throw this out right away, but I bet in a couple of months when I'm cleaning out my makeup it ends up in the garbage. I'm wondering what I ever saw in Bobbi Brown makeup.

Eye Shadow -Clinique - Color Surge in Blue Lagoon (Super Shimmer)
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 2/8/2008 4:41:00 PM

This is a great eye shadow. It is finely milled and silky, and the color saturation is great. What you see in the pan is what you get on your skin. I have olive skin, and blues generally look awful on me, but I was in the mood for something different and decided to give this a try. It has silver undertones in it, which make it look kind of charcoal-like on me. That's why it works. I probably won't wear this very often, but I'm pleased with the quallity and color of this product and would recommend the Color Surge line to anyone.

Fragrances -Avon - Goddess
rated 3 of 5
Peaches1027 2/8/2008 10:35:00 AM

This fragrance was one of many I purchased in my search for a cheap fragrance that smells expensive, and this is the only one from Avon that didn't make the cut. It's too simple, too rose smelling and just isn't for me. It's a pretty scent, however, and for people who are into roses, give it a try. It lasts reasonably well, and the price is hard to beat. I'm amazed at how good some of Avon's fragrances are. I've been trying all of them, and my favorite so far is Crystal Aura. If you like white florals, try Today.

Fragrances -Avon - Today
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 2/8/2008 10:28:00 AM

This is a sweet white floral, and if you like that type of fragrance, you will love this and you will love the price. It lasts a long time too. It is comparable to every other white floral out there, including the higher end ones like Marc Jacobs. White florals are typically uncomplicated, and there's no need to spend a lot of money on them. The only reason this got four lippies instead of five is because I'm not a huge fan of white florals in general. EDIT: I upgraded this to a five because I love it so much I took it with me when I went out of town for work. It's perfect to wear during meetings because it's not offensive or too strong, and it's made me a fan of white florals. I still wish it had more staying power, but I forgive it. I love this.

Fragrances -Avon - Crystal Aura
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 2/8/2008 10:25:00 AM

This is powdery soft and floral that somehow manages to capture what "sparkling" smells like, and I love it. I am a huge perfume lover, and I'm very particular about what I wear. Lately I've been searching for something that smells expensive but isn't. This perfume smells so good that the first time I put it on I couldn't stop smelling myself. I've sampled fragrances that cost three times what this does that smell worse and have less depth and staying power. This is a keeper, but time will tell if I can wear a cheap fragrance for the long term.

Styling Products -Garnier - Sleek and Shine Anti-Humidity Hairspray
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 2/8/2008 10:21:00 AM

I bought this based on MUA reviews, and I really like it. I have it in Ultra Strong, and it works almost as well as my Masterpiece by TIGI, but it's a lot cheaper. It's a wet hairspray, which I usually stay away from, but if you spray it lightly it's okay. It does last all day, and although the shine isn't as good as what I get from Masterpiece, the price is much better. Sometimes I don't want to shell out 20 bucks for hairspray, and this is my backup when I'm feeling tight with my money.
