Treatments -Philosophy - Resurface Kit - The Microdelivery In-Home Vitamin C Peptide Peel

The PERFECT deep scrub! I've been using this since it was called "The Great One", sometime back near the end of 2003. I do this 1x per week and it leaves my skin baby soft, clear and with a healthy glow. I still have a few other scrubs around the house from the pre-resurface kit days and once in a while I try them out, but they feel completely ineffective compared to this. I have combo/dry and sensitive skin and this is perfect for me. I'm never without it. Edited 2/14/06: I switched to Olay's version a few months back because it's too similar to warrant spending the extra $40 for philosophy. It's still a great product but I'm taking one lippie off for being too expensive...and that issue alone is what will prevent me from buying it again.

Cleansers -Shu Uemura - High Performance Balancing Oil - enriched version

This is one of three different cleansing oils I've tried, along with the Shu Uemura High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil Light, and DHC Cleansing Oil. For my sensitive, combination yet prone to dryness skin, this is my favorite. With DHC and the Shu light version, my skin felt a bit overcleansed with daily usage, but the enriched formula leaves my skin soft and glowing. Because I use a waterproof sunblock on my face, as well as makeup and mascara, this cleanser is a HG item! Even after wearing all these layers of product on a daily basis, this cleanser removes EVERYTHING and leaves my skin pure and clean. Note: I do a 60-second massage with this cleanser to remove all my makeup. In my experience, the extra time spent during my cleansing ritual gives the cleanser ample time to thoroughly break down all the product on my face. I highly recommend this to anyone who wears sunblock or transfer-resistant makeup. UPDATE 8/29/05: I still use this every day and love it! This will be a *must repurchase* when I run out. UPDATE 2/14/06: Still using it daily! I'm about to purchase my 3rd bottle. *HG status* UPDATE 2/25/06: Ran out of the Shu cleansing oil and until I purchased more I started using 100% jojoba oil to remove makeup and sunblock. And...to my surprise... the jojoba oil works better! It completely cleanses and though it doesn't rinse off as well as the Shu Uemura, my t-zone pores quickly started to shrink up and any dryness my face experienced has gone away. I just follow up the oil with a warm water rinse and light cleanser.

Cleansers -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Vitamin C Facial Cleanser
KittySkyfish 3/25/2005 9:16:00 AM
I tried this for several weeks and found that my skin eventually started to look blotchy/red. My skin is sensitive/combination with a tendency to dryness, and there must be something in the cleanser that irritated my skin. Once I stopped using the cleanser, my skintone evened out. A week later I tried the cleanser again because I thought the blotchiness was caused by something else. In about two days, my skin started to look blotchy and when I discontinued using the face wash (again) it went away again. My husband likes it, though!
