Makeup Brushes -Bloom - Retractable Powder Brush
rated 1 of 5

I really wanted to love this product. I haven't had much luck finding a good retractable powder brush, so on the rec. of a Sephora SA, I orderd the Bloom brush online. It looked sooo cute when it arrived. Nice sleek case, cute Bloom girl on the front. When I took off the cap, the brush head was sooo soft. I thought it was a winner for sure. WRONG! The darn thing shed all over the place *every* time I used it! Arghhh! It shed worse than any brush I'd ever tried in my life. I don't know if it's just from a bad batch or what, but after 2 weeks of shedding (yes, I gave it that long to prove itself included a brush washing with a good brush cleanser, too!), I returned it at Sephora. The SA there said they've been having some problems w/ the brush lately. I guess it might have actually come from a bad batch. Well, I didn't want to reorder and take the chance of getting another bad batch, so I just ordered the Stila one instead. We'll see how that holds up...

Eye Shadow -Stila - Jezebel Eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 11/26/2002 6:29:00 PM

Jezebel is a pretty shimmery bronzey peach. Looks great with my dark brown eyes. I like using it lightly up to my crease with a bit of Twig smudged along my upper lashline. Very pretty. It also looks great applied wet to the lid with Terra just above the crease to contour and Java to line. One of my favorite Stila e/s. I use it almost daily! :)

Lip Gloss -Bobbi Brown - Tube Tints
rated 5 of 5

I bought this set last week from Nordies and I love it! Great set for $20. It comes with 4 mini tubes of: Tea Tint(tea colored, brownish reddish), Cherry Tint(reddish), Blossom Tint(pinky), and Crystal(clear gloss). All the tints have SPF 15 except the gloss and have just a touch of color. The tube tints are very moisturizing and make my lips look glossy without being too sticky. They have a nice minty taste, too. One of my fave lip combos of the moment is the Tea Tint with WnW #666 liner--very pretty! :)

Scrubs -Philosophy - The Greatest Love
rated 1 of 5
kookykitty 11/26/2002 3:28:00 PM

Rant, Rant, Rant for this product! I have oily skin and this scrub left my face like a gross oil slick. Its labelled as a microdermabrasion scrub, so it is a bit harsh. But, I really didn't expect to have my face covered in an icky greasy film after I rinsed off! I had to wash my face 2 more times with another cleanser to take that greasy residue off my face, then I had to use my Kiehl's Blue Astringent Toner(which usually completely dries out the area I apply it to!), too. I strongly recommend staying away from this stuff. I'll stick to Astara's Refining Scrub instead.

Toners -Kiehls - Calendula Toner
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 11/26/2002 3:22:00 PM

This is an excellent product. It is formulated for those with oily skin prone to blemishes. This toner is moisturizing and leaves your skin nice and soft. Unlike other toners aimed at oily skin, it does not dry out your skin. I use this twice daily and have experienced no breakouts at all, btw, I have oily acne prone skin. It's around $19, but worth every penny. :)

Toners -Kiehls - Herbal Blue Astringent
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 11/26/2002 3:19:00 PM

This is an amazing product. The Blue Astringent Toner stops zits in their tracks. I'm not kidding, it really dries them out before they get a chance to even fully come out. I had a huge blemish forming on my nose and I went to the Kiehl's counter. The MA gave me a sample of this to try out. In a couple days, the area was completely flat and all redness gone. I went back and purchased the full size bottle. My sister has been using it, too. Its been working really well for her (she has blemishes that have already come to head). They've all dried up. This product costs $9 for the 4oz size. ***A warning, though: This product will dry out the area that you apply it to. Not recommended for those with dry skin. I only spot apply this toner. For all other areas, I use the Calendula Herbal Extract Toner.

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Primer
rated 1 of 5
kookykitty 11/25/2002 6:58:00 PM

I can only label a few products as HG, but this is one of them. This primer makes my face look sooo smooth. I can't understand how I ever wore foundation without this stuff! It makes my foundation stay fresher-looking longer. I find that although I still get oilies (I have very oily skin BTW), I have to blot less often throughout the day. This product did NOT make me break out either, which is remarkable because I have very acne-prone skin. I think this Primer is worth every cent of the $36 it retails at. :)***EDIT*** I must Edit this review. I can no longer support a company who hires employees that mistreat their customers. I have been treated horribly on several occasions by an MA at the Nordstrom Smashbox Counter in Arden Fair Mall in Sacramento, CA. I received e-mails from their CS that failed to sympathetically address my ill experience. I will *never* buy another Smashbox product again.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Azur Eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 11/16/2002 1:31:00 PM

Woohoo! Azur is my favorite Stila e/s! I love this shimmery deep blue shade. My husband actually picked it out for me and I cringed when I saw this dark blue shade. I was a bit intimidated to put it on. But, boy does it make my dark brown eyes *pop*! I like using it as a wash on just my lid or along wy upper lash line and smudging it a bit. Sooo pretty! My first Stila e/s purchase, too!

Blush -Stila - Fade Cheek Color
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 11/16/2002 1:10:00 PM

I love Stila Fade Blush! It is a neutral mauveish pink shade that is ever so natural looking. I have medium toned skin with yellow undertones and it looks very natural on. It's a nice basic fool proof blush. A staple in this gal's m/u collection. Not bad at $14 a pan...lasts a long time, too. :)

Blush -Cargo - Tonga
rated 3 of 5
kookykitty 10/6/2002 5:05:00 PM

I just bought this blush today...and I lOVE it! After the MA brushed it onto my cheeks and had me look in the mirror, I knew it was my new GRAIL blush. It is a beautiful rosey pink flush! It looks gives my face a healthy natural flush. So pretty. At $20 for a gigantor tin, it is a really good deal IMHO. My only mini rant is the packaging, the cover on my tin doesn't really stay on very well, it comes off way too easily. But, the beautiful color inside makes up for that! *Edit* I had to edit this and change my rating from 5 l/s to 3. I'm sorry to say that I had to exchange this product for an Astara Blue Flame mask because it made me BREAK OUT! Boohoo. It was such a pretty color, too. Oh, well...

Lip Gloss -Bonne Bell - Dr. Pepper lipsmackers
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 10/4/2002 3:12:00 PM

This is one of my staples. It is one of the best lip balms I own and its super cheap, too! I like to layer this with TBS Beech lipliner for a nice, polished natural look. One of my fave YLBB combos. Love that scent, too. :)

Lipstick -LORAC - Lipsticks
rated 1 of 5
kookykitty 10/4/2002 2:49:00 PM

I have these lipsticks in Ashley (a sort of rosey-hint of plum-brown) and Julia (brown red. They are very soft and creamy. I found them to be long lasting and well pigmented. They did not dry out my lips at all. They are a bit pricey at $17.50, though. But, I like the consistency of these lippies so much that I think I'm going to try Pout(pinky-brown) and Jennifer(warm reddish brown slight shimmer) next. Oh! I almost forgot, I really like the Vanilla scent, too! :)****EDIT**** I am editing this review because I have recently learned of the horrible treament a fellow MUAer endured at the hands of LORAC CS and the company's attorney. I will never buy another LORAC product again.

Lips -Prescriptives - Lippity Split
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 9/28/2002 7:05:00 PM

I have this in Pastille. I think this is an excellent product. I am on my second one! The pastille has a plummy pink cream lip color on one side and a pink gloss on the other side. I have been using this almost everyday. It goes quite well with the Px "magic" lipliner, too. But, I usually just apply it without liner for a more natural look. It think it would be flattering on most skin tones. BTW, I have medium skin with yellow undertones.

Lipstick -NARS - Lipstick in Gipsy, Dolce Vita
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 9/27/2002 1:37:00 PM

I LOVE Dolce Vita!!! This is a wonderful lipstick. It is a soft pinkish shade that would suit most skin ones. It is one of my fave YLBB lippies. At $21, it is a bit pricey, but it is soo pretty and creamy. It goes on very nicely and provides a flattering natural everyday look. I always have this lippie in my makeup collection.
