Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
sugarbomb 1/23/2004 1:19:00 AM
I'm not ashamed to admit it--I bought this blush because of the name. Who doesn't want that just-ravished look? However, since no one stopped me on the street to ask if it was good for me, I must sadly conclude that it does not live up to the hype. Oh, it's a pretty shimmery peach, but not worth the price. I guess I'll have to resort to the old-fashioned method of putting orgasmic roses in my cheeks.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Illuminance Creme Shadow Quad - Va Va Va Bloom
sugarbomb 1/23/2004 1:15:00 AM
Ack! This cream eyeshadow has a nice texture (I haven't noticed the creasing some others have mentioned), but the use of these colors should be restricted to makeup artists trying to create the effect of a black eye. There's a medium pink and a shimmery gold that are decent, but the other two colors (dark purple and darker purple) made me look like I'd gotten in a barfight the previous night. Probably any other Illuminance palette would be more flattering.

Blush -NARS - Mata Hari
sugarbomb 1/23/2004 1:10:00 AM
This is a bright, matte Barbie doll pink, but gives my PPP complexion a healthy glow when applied sparingly. The texture is nice--it's finely milled, but overall is not exciting enough to merit the 20+ dollars.

Lip Gloss -Lancome - Berry Bold Juicy Tubes
sugarbomb 1/23/2004 1:08:00 AM
This gloss has a heavenly watermelon scent--just like the bubble gum I chewed when I was a kid. However, like many Juicy Tubes, it is not highly pigmented--it's basically just clear, with a rather thick, tacky texture. Not worth the $15.50. Buy some Smith's Rosebud Salve and a pack of watermelon bubble gum, and save yourself 10 bucks.

Misc Beauty Tools -Revlon - Eyelash curler
sugarbomb 1/23/2004 1:04:00 AM
Well...this is your basic eyelash curler, but it's just as effective as the more expensive ones. I think knowing how to use it is more important than the implement itself! Don't buy the hype--Shiseido and Shu Uemura have nothing over this one.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Le Kohl in Olive
sugarbomb 1/23/2004 1:00:00 AM
In my opinion, L'Oreal is the best drugstore brand out there (at least in the US), but this eyeliner is totally useless! I dragged this across my lids four or five times, without *any* result, except probably causing delicate skin damage. Seven dollars down the drain. A huge disappointment.

Lip Gloss -Mary Kay - Aloha Pink #3127
sugarbomb 1/23/2004 12:57:00 AM
I was skeptical of Mary Kay cosmetics until a friend dragged me to a party. I tried this on randomly, and to my surprise it looked great. I am very fair, so it's a dramatic look, since it's a bright dark pink, if a color can bright and dark at once (I think it can). The texture is smooth and thick, and the smell is a heavenly vanilla that makes me want to lick my lips!

Blush -L'Oreal - Blush Delice in Raspberry Sorbet ] [DISCONTINUED]
sugarbomb 1/23/2004 12:53:00 AM
I like this blush--it's a bright raspberry (hence the name). There is quite a bit of shimmer in it, but not enough to be objectionable. Applied with a light hand, it really livens up my PPP face, and it has a yummy smell (though I'm puzzled as to why blush needs a scent). I enjoy it, but probably wouldn't repurchase--so many blushes, so little time!

Lip Gloss -Revlon - shimmy shine lipgloss palette le in red rocks
sugarbomb 1/23/2004 12:50:00 AM
My mother bought this for me, supporting my lip gloss addiction, and at first I thought, "Oh great, I can only wear 3 of the 5 shades!" Actually, they're all wearable! The colors are: -a dark berry -true red -medium pink shimmer -mauve -pale pink/lilac shimmer. I'm just bummed that this is LE--I'd definitely repurchase.

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
sugarbomb 1/23/2004 12:46:00 AM
I bought this because of all the rave reviews, and at first was puzzled, because my lashes clumped like mad. If you blot the wand, though, it gives you length and thickness unsurpassed by any other drugstore mascara I've tried. I can't speak to the softness, though. In that regard it seems fairly similar to others.

Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Powder Palette Multi-Colored Highlighter
sugarbomb 1/23/2004 12:43:00 AM
Eh...other people have said this "brightened" their faces. I would have to disagree--it's your basic powder highlighter--nothing special. Plus the packaging is ghastly--the brush included is useless, and the pan fell out of the compact and broke in a million pieces a few months after I bought it! Obviously, I wouldn't repurchase.

Blush -Cargo - Mallorca
sugarbomb 1/23/2004 12:39:00 AM
I ordered this from Sephora, and was a bit taken aback when I saw the color--it is a *very* bright pink in the pan! But applied sparingly it gives me that just-came-in-from-the-cold look. There is a ton of product--it will last forever--I wish they would give you less product for a lower price...

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum Express Mascara
sugarbomb 3/28/2003 2:20:00 PM
I bought this mascara because it came with a free liquid eyeliner, but was unimpressed. It was very clumpy and I swear it made my lashes straighter after I'd curled them!

Lotions/ Creams -Neutrogena - Norwegian Formula Hand Cream
sugarbomb 3/28/2003 2:15:00 PM
This hand cream definitely moisturized my hands, but it left them feeling greasy and sticky. Best to use at night before you go to bed--slather it on, then put on a pair of gloves, and you can moisturize while you sleep, then in the morning, wash your hands.

Moisturizers -Olay - Olay Complete - Fragrance Free
sugarbomb 3/28/2003 2:13:00 PM
I've only been using this for two years, but I just love it. I have combination, acne-prone, PPP skin, and it is perfect--it sinks right in without leaving me shiny or greasy. Perfect under makeup. I think it does have a slight fragrance, but it's totally inoffensive. I just wish it came in SPF 30. I would like more protection than 15, especially in the summer.
