Fragrances -Guerlain - Insolence

I have to start by saying that I despise the name of this fragrance. In my opinion, the name is really awful and doesn't make the perfume sound attractive at all. That being said, I acutally really like this fragrance. I got a free trial size and I wasn't too fond of it at first. The initial scent surprised me and I couldn't tell whether I liked it or not. After wearing it for the day, I came to enjoy the unusual violet scent. I went back to buy a bottle a few days later. The bottle is so pretty, as well! It's a perfume that is young, flowery and fresh, and a little bit different than anything else out there, definitely targeted at a younger audience. Sooo.. I like the scent and the bottle, just not the name!

Lip Gloss -Shiseido - The Makeup Lip Gloss

EDITED TO ADD: My opinion on these glosses has changes drastically. I can't stand the really, extraordinarily strong chemically/perfume-y smell and taste. Yuck yuck ick ick. For my fellow Canadians who want a non-sticky and highly pigmented lip gloss, check out Annabelle's Le Gloss. There are several very comparable shades, particularly to Chianti Rose, and they are a much, much better value. These are great!! The texture is what I really love; they are not sticky or gooey or gross and your hair won't get stuck in them. The texture is very light and smooth.. for me it is perfect! As for the colours, there is something for every skintone. They look great on their own or over lipliner. I adore Ruby Lustre and Chianti Rose most of all.. they are so perfect for me (cool-toned fair skin, brown eyes, blonde hair) and I will repurchase them when they run out until they are discontinued. The only negative thing I can think to write is that the lasting power isn't great but, after all, it is a lipgloss.

Highlighters -Shiseido - Accentuating Color Stick In Glistening Flush
rated 5 of 5

I love love love the Accentuating Color Sticks. I have the Peach Flush as well. The texture is so wonderful.. glides on so smoothly! I use Glistening Flush as a highlighter and it makes you look radiant. It is expensive but I will definitely keep repurchasing in the distant future when I use it all up. Very elegant packaging as well. I recommend this to everyone who asks me for make-up advice.

Blush -NARS - The Multiple in Maldives
rated 3 of 5
smurfkitten 8/28/2006 12:09:00 AM

Although this product is a multiple, I unfortunatley found that I could not use it on multiple areas! (I have fair skin with cool undertones, blonde hair and brown eyes.) I only like it as blush. The texture is way too dry to use on lips, and I'm not too fond of it as an eyeshadow. I've been comparing it to Shiseido's Accentuating Color Sticks and I've found that I like the Shiseido one tons more. The texture is just so much smoother and it glides on so easily, no having to work really hard to blend. My conclusion: I love this as a blush but for the price I don't think it was worth it. I think that I'm going to stick with the Accentuating Color Sticks from Shiseido and I probably won't repurchase Maldives, or any other Nars Multiples..

Lip Gloss -NARS - Orgasm
rated 4 of 5
smurfkitten 8/27/2006 11:56:00 PM

I bought this with the blush of the same name. This was the first lipgloss from Nars that I had ever tried. I think it is a good product but not necessarily a great one. I am pretty pleased with the texture; I hate lipglosses that are really sticky! My only complaint with the texture is that it goes on a bit too thick for my liking. The lasting power is really good for a lipgloss and the colour is pretty with my cool-toned fair skin and blonde hair. Cute packaging. Might repurchase, might try a different colour instead.

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
rated 5 of 5

I must admit that at first I was unsure about the shimmer and I was hesitant to buy it. I'm not a huge fan of looking too "shimmery". I was happy to discover that this blush gave me a nice subtle, warm colour on my cool-toned light skin. The shimmer definitely didn't show up as much as I feared it would. I've actually become quite fond of it! It's a really pretty, natural-looking shade that makes you look healthy and glowy without looking too done up. I use it during the daytime. The case is really cute, small and easy to carry anywhere with you, with a mirror inside. The price for this blush was kind of high, but since I'm sure it will last me for a long time, worth it.

Liquid -Chanel - Vitalumiere
rated 5 of 5
smurfkitten 8/20/2006 11:05:00 PM

I started using this foundation about 2 months ago & I'm really happy with it. I had to switch to a different brand of foundation because I moved to a more humid city & so the mousse texture of Estee Lauder's Ideal Matte, in Ivory, would just melt off of my face in the heat... not good! I was disappointed about having to swtich since I've always had trouble finding a shade that matched my skintone well. Anyways, I was worried about finding a shade that would match my skin but I found it. Limpide is an even better match that Ivory was! It looks very natural & doesn't cover up and hide your skin, just makes it look a whole lot better! Very easy to apply, goes on smoothy, coverage is buildable. Has SPF 15. Doesn't clog my pores. I finish with the Chanel pressed powder Poudre Universelle Compacte and my foundation will last all day. Great packaging, pump. Will recommend to everyone & repurchase for sure.

Lip Liners -Chanel - Le Crayon Gloss - Pink Praline
rated 5 of 5
smurfkitten 8/20/2006 10:53:00 PM

This was the first Le Crayon Gloss that I've ever bought & I must say that I'm really happy with it! I was looking for something that matched the natural colour of my lips and Praline Pink is perfect. It is super easy to apply, nice texture, goes on very smooth. Looks great by itself or under lipgloss. Great for everyday wear. Comes with a good sharpener. The price is high but the product really is great & will probably last me for a long time so I will definitely repurchase!!

Treatments -Burt's Bees - Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream
rated 5 of 5
smurfkitten 6/8/2006 4:36:00 PM

Awesome product!! The tin is cute & small, perfect for carrying in your purse, the fragrance is yummy, and it does a great job of moisturizing your cuticles. My cuticles get dry really easily, so I always have a tin of this handy. Great price too, it's a lot like The Body Shop's almond oil nail & cuticle balm but much cheaper.

The packaging is amazingly cute:) Immediatly caught my eye. The scent is an interesting, exotic floral blend.. not something I would usually go for. At first it seemed way too floral/sweet for my liking but this unique scent grew on me. Great price and good lasting power for a body spray.

Eye Makeup Remover -Lancome - Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Make-up Remover
rated 5 of 5
smurfkitten 6/6/2006 7:56:00 PM

This is by far the best eye make-up remover I have ever used.. however it is also the most expensive. I'd repurchase it if it weren't so $$$. Removes heavy make-up easily while being gentle to the eye area. You only have to use a small amount of product and there is no greasy residue. I'm a Night & Day contact lense wearer, and so I am always removing my make-up while wearing my contacts, and I have not had any sensitivty problems with this product at all!

Eye Makeup Remover -Biotherm - Biocils Eye Makeup Remover Gel
rated 2 of 5
smurfkitten 6/6/2006 7:52:00 PM

I'm not a big fan of this make-up remover.. I had to use a ton of product each time to remove all of my mascara and eyeliner, and I don't even use waterproof make-up. For eyeshadow alone it works well, but I'm almost always wearing heavy eye make-up. I also had sensitivity issues with this make-up remover. As a Night & Day contact lense wearer, I am always removing my eye make-up with my contacts in, and on occasion this product has caused stinging around my eye area. I've switched over to Lancome's Bi-Facil and I've found it to be more effective and gentler.

Skincare - Body -Fruits & Passion - Lemon Vanilla Body Milk
rated 5 of 5
smurfkitten 6/6/2006 7:41:00 PM

I love this stuff. The texture is really light and on the runny side. It absorbs extremely quickly and moisturizes well while leaving the lovely Lemon-Vanilla scent on your skin, which lasts for a surprisingly long time. The packaging is also really nice. I agree with the first reviewer in that this product would be good for the summer.
