Lip Gloss -Mary Kay - Lip Gloss- Almond Glaze (#3145)
rated 5 of 5

I love this gloss. The taste/scent reminds me of a cupcake and the gloss goes on smooth and creamy, not sticky at all (compared to some other glosses I have used). Almond Glaze is a pinky-nude "my lips but better" color. It is just a hair darker than my actual lip color so it is perfect for a natural look. I especially like that while it leaves my lips soft and shiny, it is not shimmery or sparkly. Shimmer is good, but not all the time. Would love to try this gloss in other colors.

Lip Gloss -Mary Kay - Velocity shine It! Lip Gloss in Caramel Apple
rated 5 of 5

A delicious gloss! This tastes and smells exactly like carmel apple. Carmel apple is a shimmer pinky beige color that is very natural looking and is not sticky at all. As other posters said, you twist the bottom and the color dispenses through little holes in the top. The first time you use it you have to twist quite a few times to get the color out, but don't quickly twist a bunch of times in a row or too much color will come out. I really want to try the "Very Cherry" also. :)

Eye Makeup Remover -Mary Kay - Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover
rated 5 of 5

A wonderful eye makeup remover! I wear shadow, liner, & mascara everyday and this gently removes all of my makeup - I do not have to fiercly rub or scrub at my eyes. The remover does not leave my eyes red, stinging, or irritated, nor does it leave them greasy. Great great product! (have posted my review in both categories)

Skincare - Face -Neutrogena - Healhy Defense Moisturizer Sunscreen SPF 30
rated 5 of 5
1MegMeg 4/14/2003 10:02:00 AM

UPDATE: After speaking with some dermatologists at work (I work in a medical institution) and reading some journal articles, I am slightly concered that Healthy Defense does not provide ample broad spectrum coverage. Yes, it certainly provides some, but I am unsure if it is enough. Skin cancer runs in my family so I (obviously) want to protect my skin from sun damage as much as possible. I have since started using DDF Organic Sunblock, which has a much higher % of physical sunblock than does the healthy defense.

Since I live in Florida, I wanted something higher than SPF 15 for the summer. I was using Oil of Olay complete, which I love, but it does not come in anything but SPF 15. I decided that Healthy Defense might be a good option - and I was right! I purchased this in untinted and I love it. It goes on smooth and moisturizes well, but does not leave my face greasy or shiny nor does it break me out. It has a faint scent, but it seems to dissipate quickly. Will definitely repurchase!

Masks -Totally Juicy - Grapefruit Peel-Off Masque
rated 1 of 5
1MegMeg 4/6/2003 10:26:00 AM

The grapefruit peel-off masque was on sale at Target, so I thought I would give it a whirl. While it did not sting at all as I was putting it on. It hurt SO much peeling it off. It felt like I was pulling duct tape off my face. My skin is no sensative *at all*, but after this masque it was red and blotchy, almost welt-like! My skin seemed marginally smoother & my pores were a tiny bit smaller, but I will definitely not be using this again. I just did not see enough of a difference to warrent ripping off my epidermis. This was very inexpensive, but there are much better products out there!

Moisturizers -Clinique - Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
rated 2 of 5
1MegMeg 4/4/2003 9:56:00 AM

My skin is pretty oily, but I think it is starting to change because lately it has been a little less oily than normal. Because of this, I wanted a heavier moisturizer at night. I had a GWP of MSE, so I gave it a whirl. Didn't like it at all! The gel consistency didn't feel like it soaked in at all, but rather it just left a sticky film on my face. It does feel cool and silky when I spread it on, but within 10 minutes my face was tight and dry feeling again. I will not be purchasing a full-size container of this.

Concealers -Laura Mercier - Secret Concealer
rated 1 of 5
1MegMeg 4/3/2003 9:43:00 AM

Very disappointed in this concealer. I really wanted to like it because it was awarded "Best Concealer" by Allure magazine, but it just didn't work for me. No matter how much eye cream I used, the secret concealer was still very cakey (and I have oily skin). My skin is not golden at all and I do have trouble with makeup looking orange, but this seemed to be the correct color in the store. I was definitely wrong! The color changed to a funky orange throughout the day. So I had cakey orange strips under my eyes. Not nice! I will definitely stick to my Clinique City Cover Compact Concealer - 100x better and less expensive!

Powders -Mary Kay - Loose Powder
rated 5 of 5
1MegMeg 4/3/2003 8:22:00 AM

This powder is excellent. It is very finely milled. So fine, in fact, that the extra loose particles just float around in the air like dust, they never fall on the counter. I have this in ivory, which is a fair yellow-based color. This powder goes on very sheer, looks natural, controls shine, and doesn't turn orange. My complexion is not golden at all so lots of makeup tends to look orange on me. I will definitely repurchase. You can't beat this for the price - $12.50!

Eyeliner -MAC - Powersurge Eye Kohl
rated 5 of 5
1MegMeg 3/28/2003 8:16:00 AM

Of all the eyeliners I own, Powersurge is definitely my favorite. This dark tarnished gold color looks amazing on my dark brown eyes. It really makes them glow and stand out. Even though my complexion is not very warm (more neutral) this color looks great! As with all other kohls, this goes on smoothly - no tugging or dragging necessary. When I use my current one up I will definitely repurchase.

Lipstick -Clinique - Long last Lipstick - Bamboo Pink
rated 5 of 5
1MegMeg 3/22/2003 4:47:00 PM

Bamboo Pink is a gorgeous pinky nude with silver shimmer on my neutral PPP complexion. It is pink enough to brighten up my face, but not overly pink. The silver shimmer adds dimension to the color and makes my lips appear fuller. Even though this is the Long Lasting formula, it is quite moisturizing and does not cake up on my lips. Another winner for Clinique!

Lipstick -Clinique - Colour Surge Lipstick - Pure Posh
rated 5 of 5
1MegMeg 3/21/2003 6:33:00 PM

UPDATE: I am SO glad that I purchased this. This lipstick is perfect for spring and summer time. It is very multipurpose and I have gotten tons of compliments on it.

Pure Posh is a gorgeous nude shade with berry undertones and golden shimmer in it, which leaves my lips full and pouty. The color is very vibrant (even though it isn't a bright color) and lasts a long time. Additionally, the lipstick conditions my lips and leaves them soft and very moisturizered - not dry at all.

Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - Aromatherapy Grapefruit Peppermint Invigorating Body Wash
rated 5 of 5
1MegMeg 3/21/2003 11:34:00 AM

I love the scent of this. It is clean, crisp, and citrusy - the perfect thing to wake me up during an early morning shower. The scent seems to be just as strong on the pouf and in the shower as it is in the bottle. However, the scent does fade on me after a couple of hours. That's okay though, I don't really want to walk around all day smelling like a citrus grove. Additionally, the body wash lathers well and does not dry out my skin. A winner for me!

Lip Treatments -Desert Essence - Lip Rescue w/ Shea Butter
rated 5 of 5
1MegMeg 3/17/2003 2:36:00 PM

I have tried TONS of lip balms (probably between 25 and 30) and this, hands down, is the best! Why is it the best, you ask? Let me tell you. :-) It is in a sanitary, easily totable tube (rather than a pot that you have to stick your grimy paws in). It goes on smooth & creamy, yet it is not sticky or gooey at all. It is very soft and silky. It does not have an offensive taste or smell. It is great to wear under lipstick or lipgloss. It is not tested on animals, nor is it filled with funky chemicals. It has all-natural ingredients. And the last reason it is the best lip balm is because it is CHEAP! I think I paid $2.50 for this at my local health food store. That is marginally more than chapstick and you get a product that is 100 times better.

Lotions/ Creams -Neutrogena - Norwegian Formula Hand Cream
rated 1 of 5
1MegMeg 3/17/2003 9:26:00 AM

I had high hopes for this since I really like Neutrogena body lotion, but this hand cream did not, at all, meet my expectations. A *tiny* bit goes a long way, but the consistency is still very thick and greasy - more like vaseline than cream. However, whether I rubbed it in or attempted to let it dry, this cream never sank in and it left my hands very sticky! There are much better intensive hand creams out there in the same price range.
