Deodorants -Secret - Platinum Clear Gel

As someone who has had an odor/perspiration challenge for years, I have finally found my HG of deodorants/ antiperspirants. It seems like I've tried just about everything. I had rashes with the products that worked; the 'gentler' formulas just didn't do their job. This product is wonderful; I've been using it for a couple years now, and I haven't had any skin irritation or rash. The gel glides on smoothly and dries quickly, whereas I've found the solid stick varieties to drag on the skin. This does not stain clothes (unlike the white solids). Most importantly, it really works! I just wish there was more product in the container. If you are prone to allergic reactions and are looking for something that really works, give this a try! I give the same high recommendation for Secret Scent Expressions clear gel. I use both, as I enjoy the different subtle fragrances (except anything with lavender or baby powder!). I like switching them up. I always have a couple spares on hand; this and Scent Expressions are the only ones I'll buy.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Pleasures Delight

I'm writing this review from trying a tester several times. I really was looking forward to giving this fragrance a try, especially after reading some reviews on what it smelled like. I have a pretty good nose I think, but each time I tried this, I could only make out a creamy caramel scent. No fruit, no floral. Must be my chemistry. Not long-lasting either. Although I like sweet fragrances, I don't want to smell only caramel. For me, I wouldn't purchase.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Pleasures Exotic

The reason I said I wouldn't purchase again is because it doesn't smell great on me. Not that it's awful, but I really was expecting a somewhat tropical fragrance. On me it was just an ordinary floral; there was no fruit scent at all. I don't need another floral but will always welcome a fruity fragrance! I was disappointed; I was expecting something very different. Not much staying power either. Meh.

Blush -New York Color - Color Wheel Mosaic Powder Pink Cheek Glow

What a great blush! It has an excellent mix of coloring that goes on without too much of one straight color, making it look really natural. I've applied it easily over both powder as well as liquid foundation. It gives a super glow with a pinkish tone that lasts well too. It only takes a light touch with the brush to get a lot of product, though. Highly recommend this little gem. Great product at a great price.

Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Pressed Powder in Translucent
whitelace6 2/22/2010 3:29:00 PM
I chose this because I wanted to try a pressed mineral powder. This is a great basic powder, however, NOT for mature skin. I was looking for just a little glow to brighten my complexion, but yikes, this made my face look chalky. It accentuated any wrinkles, and somehow highlighted my pores - not a good thing! It would be fine for younger gals, but if you have mature skin, I'd say skip this one.

Lipstick -Pur Minerals - Shea Butter Lipstick

Mauve Quartz: I received this in a kit on special with The Shopping Channel. I've worn lipsticks/gloss in mauve for years, so if this is supposed to have any 'mauve' tone, I'll eat my hat. At first I thought it was a sheer brown tone. It was creamy when applied, and I've come to really like this when I want a nude/sheer sort of look. It's actually quite neutral. I'm thinking of trying another shade or two, as the consistency is great. Definitely would buy again.

Skincare - Face -Olay - Sensitive Skin Lotion

Classic Moisturizing Lotion for Sensitive Skin: I have mature skin on the dry side. I was looking for an economical basic day moisturizer, and this is great. It is fragrance, color, and oil-free. Do note that it doesn't offer any sun protection, if you're looking for that. I also like the way the bottle dispenses a little amount of lotion at a time rather than having a lot pour out on you. It leaves my skin soft without feeling greasy. I cannot stand to have my face feel greasy, so I'm happy with this. It penetrates well too. I didn't want to spend a fortune, so I recommend this as a fine no-frills moisturizer. I'll definitely repurchase.

Powder -Pur Minerals - Pressed Powder Foundation

4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup in Porcelain: I wanted so much to like this, especially with all the buzz about mineral makeup. I was very excited to receive the kit of goodies from a special offer at The Shopping Channel. It seemed like a great idea to apply foundation with a brush. The consistency is good, but - whoa - not a great look on mature skin. When I've worn this my face feels somewhat dry & 'dirty', and I want to give it a good washing. I'm lucky not to have problem skin; it's ordinary, no large pores or oily areas. It's more on the dry side. However, this makeup made my normal complexion look awful. It accentuated pores and wrinkles. I'm sure it would be great on younger skin. If you have mature skin, ladies, I would suggest trying it from a tester before deciding to buy. It was a rude awakening for me. I'll stick to a light liquid foundation.

Fragrances -Ralph Lauren - Ralph Wild

I happen to quite like this as a nice fresh fragrance for spring. It's quite fruity, but not nearly as much as some of the Escada fragrances. It's sweet but not overly so, and I smelled a hint of strawberries. I wouldn't say that it's really strong or overpowering. My only complaint is that on me it doesn't last long. I got it on sale in a smaller spray bottle. It's a nice change and makes a great pick-me-up if you like fruity/sweet fragrances, as I do.

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Natural Match haircolor [DISCONTINUED]
whitelace6 2/22/2010 2:33:00 PM
# 5 1/2 N Natural - Soft Medium Brown: This is the first time I've colored my own hair. I wanted to cover up a recent awful color done by someone recommended to me. My hair was sort of a dark caramel with red tones which I hadn't wanted. I chose the N Natural because I didn't want a drastic change. I will say that the color came out darker than shown on the box, however I'm just thrilled with it. It is vibrant, yet not 'ghoulish' (I have very light skin). The conditioner included is sub-par, so one lippie off for that. My hair feels somewhat silky and there is some shine; it's not dried out. A better quality conditioner would have made a great deal of difference. The coloring mixture was a breeze to use, and the cream consistency didn't drip at all. This color did away with the red tones as well as covered the bit of grey I have. It's a rich brown, and looks very natural. I absolutely cannot tolerate sitting in a chair at the salon for very long at all, so I was very motivated to do coloring myself. I wouldn't hesitate to use this again; in fact, it's exactly what I'll purchase. I highly recommend this, with a comment that the results may be darker than what is shown on the box.
