Makeup Brushes -Sonia Kashuk - Pointed Eyeliner brush
rated 4 of 5

This brush will surprise you. I didn't want to spend all that money on the MAC version and I'm glad I didn't. It's light weight, soft but has enough firmness to get the job done. It didn't hurt my eyes at all nor was it a messy application. You have total control over the brush. It's precise and really applies gel liner as if it was a pencil. The only downfall is that the bristles get stained immediately. I washed it twice but was unable to lift the color. It also ate some product, too. I would repurchase and recommend for a decent alternative to MAC. Especially if you cannot or don't want to spend the money.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo Foundation Brush
rated 4 of 5
turnthisaround 11/26/2011 1:43:00 AM

This is a very good foundation brush. You're able to get into all the contours of your face. It's firm which makes it precise. It is soft and distributes my liquid foundation well. It does not give me an exact airbrushed look but provides great coverage. It does eat some product but I think that's to be expected working with a liquid foundation. I find that it takes longer for me to do my makeup using this brush. It's smaller than what i'm use too. I do like it and it really is a GOOD BRUSH but I might use a flat top brush or bigger foundation brush more. Washing is okay. It takes a little extra scrubbing to get all the gunk out. No shedding, though. Overall, a great brush to have in your collection.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo Bronzer Brush
rated 5 of 5
turnthisaround 11/26/2011 1:36:00 AM

I do not use this for bronzer but for powder. I heard fantastic things about this brush so I had to purchase it. It's very soft and fluffy. Makes it so easy to grab the right amount of power and has a great buffering effect. No shedding and washes well. Dries in a decent time frame and holds its shape. I really like how dense it is because it makes it so versatile. I really look for that aspect in many brushes I purchase. Again, as always, the packaging is a bitch. Difficult to remove the brush. I would buy again and highly recommend.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo Blush Brush

I'm really happy to have this brush in my collection. It's soft and fluffy. It's a little big for my liking but it's always worked well. No shedding, dries fast and in shape. It's maintained it's softness as well. Picks up colors very well, applies smoothly and blends well. There's nothing really wrong with this brush but it's not a brush I rave about. I feel that I can get something better out there. Not that I wouldn't repurchase because I would but I'd try out different brushes at the same time. As most of ecotools packaging, it's terribly difficult to get the brush out. you literally have to grip the brush by its hairs and drag it out. this makes great risk for destroying the brush. It they made the packaging a little more practical, it's be perfect.

Polishes -TheBalm - Better Off Red
rated 4 of 5
turnthisaround 11/21/2011 11:26:00 PM

This came in a kit and I was pretty weary about wearing it. i'm always skeptical about makeup companies who try to do nail polish. Luckily, this polish is pretty great. It's a very retro red. It's not a deep red at all but a nice medium red. It's not exactly in your face or classic looking. As with all of their products, it's very very pinup. It's the color of red pinup girls would wear. It makes a statement regardless. It's fairly opaque with one coat but to really solidify the color, two is best. It's very smooth and thick enough to not be runny at all. It glides on the nail. It's a matte finish but with topcoat, it has a nice shine. It's a flat color, there's no shimmer or glitter, just red. It holds up very well. I wore it for four days and only one very minor chip on the tip. It dries quickly and is not easily smudged. It did seem to peel off unevenly on my bottom cuticle. It looked like I had painted my nails with a sharpie. This is the only reason why I didn't give it the full rating. The brush reminds me of OPI and is very very easy to control. It goes with anything and is appropriate for every occasion. It can give you a bit of an edge at work, be worn daily and for nights out. I love how versatile it is. I would gladly buy more polishes from TheBalm and recommend to everyone.

Lip Gloss -Urban Decay - Lip Junkie - Crush
rated 5 of 5
turnthisaround 11/18/2011 2:19:00 AM

I got a sample of Crush from the Roller Girl palette. I love it. It really compliments the palette itself and couldn't go more perfectly with it. Along with that, it's a great product itself. It's similar to MAC glosses, texture wise. It's a thick consistency and the color is very pigmented. It is fairly sticky, slightly less than that of MAC. It's a beautiful hot pink shade without being too overpowering. The color it very wearable. It can be worn during the daytime with plain/neutral eyes and played up for evening with heavier eye makeup. I'm quite fair and this looked great. I can imagine paired with the wrong coloring or makeup, this would look very clownish so take that all into consideration. The staying power is very good. It lasted a few hours just fine but didn't really make it through eating. I love the cool, tingling effect but didn't really notice any plumping. then again, i'm lucky enough to have decently full lips naturally. My lips obviously stood out much more, which gave the appearance of plumper lips. I will happily buy a full size gloss.

Polishes -Orly - Androgynie
rated 2 of 5
turnthisaround 11/17/2011 12:44:00 AM

I was very excited to try this polish. It looked so multidimensional and holorgraphic-like. I was let down. Application was messy and the formula was more runny than what I usually get with Orly. It wasn't streaky and all the glitter very much showed through. In theory, this is a great polish but in use, it gets tiresome quickly. It has circular, chunky glitter - though not excessive but it makes it look very preteen. It just generally looked like a glitter mess. It also chipped after three days with normal daily hand use and this was with topcoat. Taking it off was hell, too. It was extremely stubborn and left glitter residue on my nails that nail polish remover couldn't get off. I had to scrub my nails with a cotton ball. All that glitter combined with that was like sandpaper to my nails. I do regret buying and would only recommend wearing for a very short time. Putting it on for a night out or if you change up your nail polish often, this would be for you.

Mascara -TheBalm - Cheater
rated 5 of 5
turnthisaround 11/15/2011 1:46:00 AM

This is one of my favorite mascaras. It was in a kit I purchased and I was very happy to see it was full sized. The tube is nothing short of retro, as to be expected. It's not bulky, which is nice. I was worried upon seeing the brush but I was very pleasantly surprised upon application. It separated, fanned out/feathered, gave volume, some length and truly did make my eyes look very very pinup. I could not believe it. The staying power is amazing, too. didn't smudge, transfer or flake at all. what really makes this mascara is; "A fabulously volumizing formula enriched with Panthenol, to strengthen and condition your lashes. " What more could you ask for in a mascara? I would pay full price for this anytime and recommend it to anyone who's into the retro/pinup look. even if you're not, this is great for a night out/special occasions. Whenever it does run out, I'm going to repurchase.

Lipstick -Calvin Klein - Delicious Luxury Creme Lipstick (all colors)
rated 4 of 5
turnthisaround 11/15/2011 1:29:00 AM

I was lucky enough to find Rose Berry in Tuesday Morning (TJ Maxx type store but more homegoods based.) The tube for this lipstick is very sturdy but very bulky and is literally impossible to see the actual lipstick color. It doesn't even have a swatch sticker on the bottom, like most lipsticks have. I managed to find one already ripped open to preview the color - seems someone was as annoyed as I was. the color itself is beautiful. A nice, natural medium pink. It went on so soft and smooth and is highly pigmented. The staying power is fantastic. It managed to last all day. It faded gradually throughout the day but the color itself was still very noticeable. It moisturized my lips very well. Because it is so creamy, a tube would run out quickly. I picked it up for $4 but the retail price is $20. You get such an insulting amount of product for the actual cost. Don't use it on a regular basis because you'll use it up in a matter of weeks. this is why I couldn't give it a full rating. For the texture and color payoff, this is worth it's naturally high price tag. I do think you're paying half for it's ridiculous packaging but it would be great for traveling because it is solid. Overall, I would buy this again if I were to find it at the discounted price. Maybe I'd purchase at full price once in a while. I do recommend this. If you see it, give it a try.

Eye Makeup Remover -Neutrogena - Oil Free eye makeup remover
rated 2 of 5
turnthisaround 11/13/2011 3:26:00 PM

This product does remove/make it easier to remove eye makeup. This is why I didn't give it a one rating. On the other hand, it also makes it a point to move product all around the eye, making it harder to remove. This also strings the hell out of my eyes, leaves my vision cloudy and leaves a greasy film. I can't understand the greasy part due to it being "oil free." The corners of my eyes were irritated as well. I'm NOT going to damage that fragile skin and get crows feet early because a makeup remover is poorly made. I had to use baby wipes to clean up this removers mess and to clean up the remainder of the makeup. i've had better luck with the baby wipes and vaseline. Obviously not repurchasing and would not recommend.

Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
rated 2 of 5
turnthisaround 11/13/2011 6:13:00 AM

Such a shame I bought this without looking into these reviews more. I see so many people raving about this on here and I decided to buy it. My OPI top coat typically strips color and I wanted something more fast drying. the only positive(s) I give this is that it is fast drying and it doesn't strip color. I first used it on my toes and woke up with sheet marks. I waited HOURS before going to bed as well. My toes never chip color anyway, so I can't really say this product helped with that. It didn't really add any shine and the shine the actual polish gave appeared lessened by the addition of this top coat. I decided to use it on my fingers to see if it would make my polish shrink. It did. It left the very tips of my nails shriveled and rough. And already on one nail, it peeled the polish off leaving some white tip exposed. I literally haven't even done anything. i've been sitting around for the past few hours. It also didn't add any shine. So in a matter of six hours, my manicure is already being destroyed. This has not happened with my OPI top coat, ever. Hell, even with cheap top coats i've never experienced this. I'm so angry to have wasted my money on this. It's $10 and for what? I'm even more angry at having subjected to my awesome polish to this crap. Don't ever buy this.

Blush -MAC - Wonder Woman blush in Mighty Aphrodite
rated 5 of 5
turnthisaround 11/10/2011 3:26:00 PM

I was lucky to have found this at a cosmetics outlet. Of course, the packaging is great and i love the wonder woman idea. It's sturdy enough and doesn't feel very cheap, which is always nice. I really like the two colors that can combine idea. Together, they make a rosyish pink that's very pigmented. I accidentally grabbed too much and almost looked like a clown. Not this this is the blushes fault at all but mine for not being careful with applying. So using a light hand is needed. It's blendable and by the end of the day, i was left with a light pink glow to my cheeks. For lighter skin this is a great blush. For darker complexions, you'll have to be careful upon applying/blending. This could work for olive skin tones but for anything darker would be very tricky. I'm quite sad this is LE but if/when i do run out, I will find a way to buy again.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Shroom
rated 5 of 5
turnthisaround 11/10/2011 3:14:00 PM

This is a great highlighting shadow. I'm quite fair so the color matches my skin very closely, therefore it's not very vivid. It does add a great shimmer and helps to brighten up my eyes. It's not too noticeable but when it catches the light, you see it shimmer and the light color. It's very flattering. for darker skin types this would be even better because the color would really pop. For fair skin types like myself, you might end up a little disappointed but you have to take it for what it is. It's a great addition to my collection and I would repurchase.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Knight Divine
rated 4 of 5
turnthisaround 11/10/2011 3:09:00 PM

Great color with good pigmentation. Easily blends and lasts. It's a very dark grey when applied and perfect for a smoky eye or to add some darkness to a look without overpowering it. I did notice some fading by the end of the day but it wasn't anything too drastic. I always use UDPP and my lids are normal so I don't usually have eyeshadows fade too much...so I was a bit surprised to find this one did noticeably. It's nothing that would keep me from using it again or repurchasing. I'm quite happy I have this and I recommend it to everyone of every skin tone. You really can't go wrong with this shade.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Idol Eyes
rated 1 of 5
turnthisaround 11/10/2011 3:03:00 PM

What a waste of money. No pigmentation, had to swipe several times to get any color at all to show up. when it did, it was a nice, light blue with a good amount of sparkle. Cue three or so hours later and the color completely vanished. All that was left a glittery mess on my lids that fell off into my eye. It was as if I just put glitter on my eyes. My lids are normal and I always use primer so I'm really at a loss for words. DO NOT BUY.
