Crème -Elizabeth Arden - Flawless Finish Sponge-On Creme Make-up
thehepburn 5/3/2005 3:55:00 PM
I forgot what colour I bought this in but it was too pink for my C4/BB Natural #4 complexion. Coverage was practically non-existent for a creme compact foundation. Also the sponge which this come with (I recommend a foundation brush for smoother coverage), anyway the sponge was prone to gather dust. I have no idea why: that has never happened to me before. Words cannot describe how much I hated this foundation. Retails for $28.00 and comes in a large long rectangular compact. Hideous!

Powder -Elizabeth Arden - Flawless Finish Dual Perfection Makeup
thehepburn 5/3/2005 3:40:00 PM
I wouldnt say that this is the worst powder foundation I have ever used but it's pretty mediocre/medium. There are worse p/foundations out there & there are better. I never apply this wet, only dry with a kabuki brush. Coverage is light, barely above a non-translucent pressed powder. I prefer a medium coverage and something warmer than the Bisque shade that I got for my C4/BB Natural #4 complexion.
On another note, I remember when this product first came out about 10 years ago & EA hasnt changed the long rectangular compact at ALL. Get with the program, EA! Retails for $28.00

Sunscreen -Vichy - Capital Soleil Extreme Sunblock Milk SPF 60
thehepburn 5/2/2005 3:15:00 PM
This is a review for the Canadian Vichy SPF60 Lotion for the Face & Body (100ml). According to mora80's notepad, this has an excelent PPD factor of 15. I have been using the Canadian Anthelios 60L for over a year & I agree with all those here who say that the Vichy is less shiny & sticky than the Anthelios. On my normal/dry face, it dried to a matt finish in about 30 minutes. I find the texture much better than the Anthelios & will be buying this instead of the Anthelios from now on. Both are SPF60/PPD15.
jennyferr below gives a good account of the ingredients in the sunscreen. This sunscreen is water-soluble so will dissolve easily when you perspire or swim. Other sunscreens I have tried are Shiseido 55, Ombrelle 45, Coppertone Faces 30, Alba Botanica (unstable), Mustela 25, Bioderma 100, Anthelios 60L, & Anthelios 45FE. My preference so far are the Shiseido & the Vichy.

Lip Gloss -Paul & Joe - Rose Caramel 05
thehepburn 4/25/2005 5:07:00 PM
This is a gorgeous mauve/rose with subtle shimmer. It has medium pigment & a pleasant faint honeydew scent. However, like the MUAer below, the brush on this is glued together so it was difficult to apply. I tried everything & nothing worked. I eventually had to return it which was such a pity since it was a great color on me and the packaging was GORGEOUS!!$18.00 @ Bergdorf Goodman or Sephora

Makeup Brushes -Trish McEvoy - Foundation Brush #43
thehepburn 4/14/2005 12:03:00 AM
I am a Foundation Brush Ho. I have 6 foundation brushes and I have to say that the TM is my least favorite of the one I have. My main problem with it is that the bristles are too long and doesnt give me the control that I like. I much prefer a slightly bigger, stiffer head like those on a MAC or Lancome foundation brush. (IMO, those two are the best on the market.)
Having said that, the TM brush gets the job done. The brush is very soft to the touch and easy to clean. I have used it for both cream and powder foundations and it worked fine.

Lip Gloss -Givenchy - pop gloss
thehepburn 4/2/2005 6:28:00 PM
I got this in Boost Copper, a bronzey rose with high frost. It reminded me of NARS Lip Lacquers because it was very pigmented/opaque. The Givenchy color selection is terrible for a C4 like me. There were three light pink glosses that looked exactly alike. My lips are too pigmented to wear glosses like that. No brownish pinks like MAC Lust which is what I usually wear.
One other thing worth mentioning is that this gloss has a STRONG burnt sugar scent like a Bonne Bell Lip Lite. It is weird having a $22.00 French lipgloss smelling like a $3.00 drugstore gloss but since I like Lip Lites, it was okay with me but might displease someone who is expecting a more typical perfumed/violet scent more typical of French Cosmetics.

Lip Gloss -Givenchy - Pop Gloss-455 Boost Copper
thehepburn 4/2/2005 6:24:00 PM
I STRONGLY disagree with the reviewer below. While Boost Copper looks like SL Raisin Glaze in its package, it is really a bronzey rose on application. I have both and did a close comparison: Boost Copper is more opaque/pigmented, darker, and less orangey. Anyway, I do love this gloss: it's a very elegant sophisticated lipstick-like look and it reminds me of NARS Lip Lacquers.

Treatments (Eye) -Lancome - Resolution Eye D-Contraxol
thehepburn 4/1/2005 2:36:00 PM
Not a miracle product but I never expect miracles. I would say that this is a good eye cream for women in the 30-early 40s which is the market this eye cream is directed for. I am 37 so am the right age for this product. I thought a noticed a *slight* softening of the faint lines under my eyes which means that this eye cream has done more than most eye creams I tried. Also did not cause any milia which I am prone to. Some people might not care for the strong perfumes scent which is typical of a Lancome product. I have a new BB Extra eye cream I am about to try next so I doubt I will be buying this anytime in the future but I would not be really adverse to rebuying (It would depend on my mood since this aint exactly cheap).

Powder -Estee Lauder - So Ingenious Powder Foundation
thehepburn 3/28/2005 4:57:00 PM
I really dont understand some of the reviews here. On the EL Website, it clearly states that this is recommended for NORMAL SKIN only.
This powder foundation gave medium coverage for me and currently retails for $35.00. I thought this was just an average powder foundation, not as good as MAC Studio Fix which is more than $10.00 less than this.So I will not be rebuying.

Lip Gloss -Dirty Girl - Lip Gloss in Pink Lemonade Serenade
thehepburn 3/23/2005 5:01:00 PM
I can't resist flavored lipgloss so I got this gloss on the spur of the moment. I paid $14 for .10 oz which makes this a very expensive lipgloss. It comes in a retro tiny vial like the Delux Beauty glosses with a sponge wand applicator. The gloss is a medium natural pink similar to Neutrogena's First Blush and does indeed smell like artificial lemonade. I probably won't buy this again since it is so similar to the Neutrogena.

Lip Gloss -Giorgio Armani - All Lip shimmers
thehepburn 3/19/2005 12:23:00 PM
$25.00 for .20 oz Is it worth it? My answer would be "no" although its a very good gloss. My favorite part is the very pointed brush tip. I have several brush wand lipglosses but none are tappered to such a fine point so that the gloss will go on with *such* precision.
My main beef is with the color selection. There were probably 15 colors to choose from but I really only liked about 2 of them for my C4 complexion. Most of them were these metallic shades which is not at all my thing. #9 is a sheer cool shimmery pink; its much cooler than anything I would usually buy but they were out of #12 which is a peachier pink. On my dark pigmented lips, the gloss barely shows up as a pale shimmery pink but when glossed over a neutral lip liner, it gave me a 1960s Mod Look which I liked. For those who like their lipglosses unscented, these lip shimmers have not even the slightest scent. I did notice that I had some sprinkles left on my lips after the gloss was mostly gone, just like with most drugstore sparkly lipgloss.

Moisturizers -Lancome - Aqua Fusion Cream
thehepburn 3/18/2005 1:30:00 PM
$34.00 for 1.7 Jar This is a review for the Cream version without SPF for Normal to Dry Skin. (I don't understand all the reviews here for the Lotion for Oily Skin version that are here.)
This is an oil-free moisturizer. The consistency is a light-blue gel-cream that feels very light. I thought it was a good light day cream for normal/dry skin. The only problem I had with it is that it is heavily perfumed. I have tried many Lancome moisturizers over the years and actually prefer the perfumed creams they offer but this is one of the most heavily scented that they have ever made. It is *almost* overwhelming. I was able to bear it but the people who are sensitive to fragrances will hate it.

Cleansers -Bobbi Brown - Extra Balm Rinse
thehepburn 3/17/2005 5:27:00 PM
I am a big fan of Bobbi Brown. I have been using her stuff for over 15 years but this is one of the few BB products that I didnt absolutely love. I have used 2 different containers of this and noticed a difference in textures. One was a *very* hard gel that was very hard to scoop put; the other was softer and was cloudy like vaseline. I dont know what was up with that?
Anyway, this cleanser has a citrus smell and can sting your eyes because of it!! It heats up as you rub it on your skin and foams when wet. It cleaned very well but I still preferred Shiseido Benefiance Foam and Boots Cleansing Balm for my dry skin. I also went through the 7.1oz for $50 very quickly so it's certainly no bargain to boot!

Lipstick -Lancome - Rouge Sensation - Bisque
thehepburn 3/13/2005 8:53:00 PM
Got this as a GWP lipstick TWICE!! This is a warm beige nude lipstick, just slightly too light for me (C4 with dark pigmented lips) but that didnt prevent me from almost finishing the tube. Sadly, I always kind of liked the concealer-as-lipstick-look.
