Cleansers -L'Oreal - Pure Zone Continuous Purity (sensitive skin)

Ergh! This stuff burns and has sensitised my skin, leaving scaly dry patches on it. Was disappointed as I love the idea of a mousse and liked the packaging.

Pressed Powders -Christian Dior - Diorskin Pressed Powder
rated 5 of 5

Got this as part of a Dior GWP and only used it for travelling until my Jurlique silk dust ran out and wow, why haven't I used this baby before? This makes my face look 'complete'. I use sunscreen and a TM where my skin feels 'moist', I brush this on and my skin feels silky. Love it and would consider buying it once this sample runs out.

Liquid -Revlon - Age Defying Light Makeup with Botafirm SPF30 [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5

Received this as a full sized sample so it's not a perfect shade match for me. I find this product interesting because being a lighter product, I can't really tell if it's on and I always feel that I need 'a little bit more just in case'. As a result, I always need a powder to set it but will end up with greasy skin at the end of the day. On the upside, no added break outs and is pretty easy to clean off.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear
rated 3 of 5

I only have a sample so I can't comment on the price or packaging. The sample is from a magazine so the colour is too dark but it is not a major mismatch and I blend it with my sunscreeen to lighten it a little. On the upside, the has been no break outs (I had a bad experience with EL's Ideal Matte so was pleasantly surprised by this) and despite the slightly more tanned look on me it makes my skin look better and I barely need concealer. What concerned me was it was so drying that it made my skin scaly. Even a good moisturiser only minimises the scales. As with all long stay foundations, it is a bit harder to remove... I have to resort to microdermabrasion type techniques once a week to ensure that all traces are removed.

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Nivea body lotion for normal skin
rated 3 of 5

I bought the one with the sea minerals. It did the job as my skin felt great but gosh, I couldn't stand the smell! I couldn't wait to finish the bottle!

Lotions/ Creams -Palmers - Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula

One of those old faithfuls that you just go back to when you spot a really good deal at the chemist or just can't be bothered looking for another body lotion/cream. I normally love the smell and texture at first slathering it everywhere. By the end of the bottle, I am sick of the scent and I have to bash the bottle to get some product out, I am also slathering it all over my body just so I can finish and get something else. Definitely one of the best out there, I just can't use it all the time, all year round.

Skincare - Face -Mary Kay - Purifying Freshener Formula 2
rated 5 of 5

I had never used toners before and this was given to me because it was a 'girlie thing' that I'd be into. Within a few days, I noticed a difference in my skin (less oily to the touch, less breakouts) and toners became part of my routine. Paula Begoun gives this a 'frown face' because of the alcohol content but I believe that's what started 'disinfecting' my skin, improving it, without drying it out.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eyeliner - All Colors
rated 4 of 5

Much better than a Stila smudge pot, easy to apply, looks good when I leave the house. Not sure if it's still visible later on in the day but I can definitely see it on my cotton pad when I remove it at night. Mine has gone a little flaky in the jar since it take me ages to get through it but I can still get the results I'm after. Would buy again, if I ever make it to the bottom of this jar. I'm dying to try some more colours.

Liquid -Stila - Illuminating Liquid Foundation
rated 5 of 5
tb_macpherson 6/17/2007 5:42:00 AM

Found a great shade match that allows me to use a little or as much as I like. Any spots I get are hormonal, not because I've used this and people notice how good my skin is. Enough said.

Concealers -Stila - Stick Concealer [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
tb_macpherson 6/17/2007 5:38:00 AM

Colour is okay but it does cake on certain flaws I have making them flaky which is funny as the product itself can feel a bit greasy. I also find that it's hard to use with a brush as the brush just seems to push it around on the surface without blending, I normally have to pat at it with my finger. Not bad, just not great considering how much I pay for it.

Eyeliner -Stila - Smudge Pot in Plum
rated 3 of 5
tb_macpherson 6/17/2007 5:33:00 AM

This was bought for me as a present - absolutely perfect as I love purple and gel liners. I love this colour but using it is not so great, I really do wonder if a 'smudge pot' really is a 'gel liner' as it doesn't glide along the lid like a fluidline and instead of the cat's eye line that I aim for, it normally smudges out at the 'wings' no matter how steady my hand is.

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
rated 4 of 5
tb_macpherson 6/17/2007 5:25:00 AM

I only picked this foundation because it had the colour shade selector and I was sick of approaching sales assistants regarding shade selection. My skin blended into W2 so I bought it straight away. Now, I realise (after buying a Stila foundation) that the shade is a little light for me and because the coverage is a little heavier than I'm used to, it's not one that I can dab wherever I need the coverage. I feel that for me to use this, I have to do a full mask effect so that my skin appears a single shade and unnatural. The solution was to wait until I had used most of it and mix it with the Stila for a winter equivalent. Reaction wise, out of the two foundations I've used this year. This one made my skin feel slightly greasy with slightly more breakouts than the Stila. Because of this, I won't be buying it again but I don't think it's a bad product if you do indeed get the correct shade.

Other -Unlisted Brand - Phisohex Antibacterial Skin Wash
rated 5 of 5
tb_macpherson 6/17/2007 5:13:00 AM

Out of all the 'acne' targeted products out there, this is one of the cleansers that I've found that actually works. Perhaps it works too well as a twice daily use is too drying so I only use it at night to wash off my make up. Although I still get the occasional monthly pimple, it is nothing like the breakouts I used to get when I first started using a daily full face of make up. People have noticed my skin clearing up after using Phisohex, some even thinking that I had switched foundations.

Lotions/ Creams -Jaqua Girls - Buttercream Frosting Sinfully Rich Body Butter
rated 5 of 5
tb_macpherson 3/25/2006 3:04:00 AM

WHERE CAN I GET THIS PRODUCT!?! I am in love!

I only used a sample and when I first applied it, I really thought it was frosting on my skin - it even had granules looking like sugar!! It rubbed in so creamy and hassle-free. All day, people kept asking about the vanilla I was wearing - even I could smell it and I'm never able to smell the products I wear.

Sadly, my local stockists of Jaqua have everythign but the buttercream frosting body butter and they all pale in comparison... *sigh*

Cleansers -Estee Lauder - Perfectly Clean Splash Away Foaming Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
tb_macpherson 3/14/2006 4:31:00 AM

It's early for a review (two days) but I recognise the smell. The 'floral' scent is the same as what they use for Veet depilatory cream! It's probably not a good idea to be reminded of dissolved hair follicles while washing your face.

This isn't foamy unless you use a LOT of water... I use a bit and rub the more creamier texture in. I don't think this cleanser will cause any breakout unlike the other EL products I use (oil free, my @rse). Perfectly clean gives me the squeaky clean feeling that I love and my skin stays dry all day with no greasy feel.

Will update the more I use this.

EDIT: I seem to have a congested pore/skin patch on my right lower jaw and a breakout on my forehead. This could also due to my hormones and the oil filled make up I just threw out.
