Eye Makeup Remover -Mary Kay - Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover
rated 4 of 5
suzyqz1970 5/12/2012 10:53:00 PM

I was cleaning out some of my old samples of various products the other day and I found a small trial size of this remover. I never really used it because I always felt my face was pretty clean after I washed with Cetaphil. But I've been using a MAC eyeliner that doesn't come off with just the Cetaphil, so I thought I'd give this stuff a whirl. This stuff is FANTASTIC!!! FANTASTIC!!!! It removes EVERYTHING with no tugging and as importantly, no stinging to my eyes!!! You have to shake it up and even though it says it's oil free, I still touch up with a little witch hazel after using it. I swear I want to use this all over my face!! After only using it a week, I got on the horn and called up my Mary Kay lady and ordered a full size. This stuff is wonderful!!!

Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Powder
rated 3 of 5
suzyqz1970 3/10/2012 12:51:00 PM

I have been enamored of the Mood Boosting line from Physicians Formula for a while and was anxious to purchase one of the bronzers from this line. I bought this instead by mistake thinking it was a light bronzer. This is really just a pressed powder; not a bronzer unless you are white. I mean, really white. No color at all. Anyway, this is a nice finishing powder to use over foundation and imparts a nice glow w/o being too pink. It reminds me a little of the Bare Minerals Radiance products but not as messy. Again, this is a nice product but in my opinion not worth the somewhat expensive price for this given you can purchase it at a drugstore. I'm also a little concerned that it may crumble since the bronzer I purchased in this line did just that. I'll use it but probably will not repurchase.

Bronzers -Physicians Formula - Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Powder in Bronzer
rated 3 of 5
suzyqz1970 3/10/2012 12:41:00 PM

I've been interested in trying to master the art of using a bronzer (yet) again. I'm fairly pale and am a NC25 in Studiofix and I wear Sand Beige in Revlon's Colorstay. I was afraid that this bronzer would be too dark for me but it actually goes on very sheer and has a lovely sheen to it. The little pink heart adds just enough pinkish tone to the bronzer that I don't end up looking orange. So, I found it to be a great color and this is the regular bronzer not the light bronze either. OK, now here are the cons: expensive for a drugstore product and the dang thing broke up completely inside the compact!!! I had read a few reviews that this was happening but I made the mistake of "assuming" those folks had thrown the compact in their purse, dropped it, etc. This was not my case. I keep my compact in a drawer with all my other cosmetics so its in a stable environment and the thing still crumbled!!! I plan on dumping the entire contents into another container and still use it but the point was, I wanted something easy and protable to use and for almost $15 bucks, that's really unacceptable to me. Beautiful color, crappy execution. Based on the crumbling alone, I don't see myself re-purchasing. Note to Physician's Formula: fix the crumbling issue and I think you've got a winner.

Liquid -MAC - Face and Body Foundation
rated 4 of 5
suzyqz1970 3/9/2012 8:08:00 PM

I waited a few months before I wrote this review because quite honestly, I wasn't terribly impressed. Since you can only buy this online or at a MAC store, I was on a mission my last trip to Chicago to find this stuff. The SA matched me to C2 and I am normally a NC25 in StudioFix. Anyway, I get it home and use it. Meh. Coverage was very sheer and it seemed a little dark at first. It definately had a nice dewy finish though but I was a little concerned due to the fact I'm pretty oily. So, not totally impressed so I put it away for a while and recently started using it again. TOTALLY different experience when I apply 2 layers of this magic elixir!!! Coverage is wonderful! I get a dewy not oily non-caky finish with just a light dusting of powder over it and get this: although it went on a little dark at first, by the end of the day, it looked so natural on that it just looked like I had great skin!! To be reasonably, I'm not trying to cover active acne but I do have an acne scar or two a some mild pigmentation areas. I'm not sure if you're looking for major coverage if this is the foundation for you but I am totally in love with this foundation and I have tried a LOT. It's also pretty reasonably priced because the bottle is so huge. I've had no issues with my oily skin making it slide off my face either. We'll see if that changes come summer. I'm very pleased with the foundation. Wonderful to be able to truely build coverage with this product.

Styling Products -Got 2 Be - Glued [water-resistant] Spiking Glue
rated 4 of 5
suzyqz1970 9/19/2011 9:34:00 PM

Glued indeed. Like spray glue. Not that I'm complaining, but be forwarned, it's a stiff hold which is what I need when i tease my hair. The applicator leaves a bit to be desired though. I've had it clog up on me a few times and I have to work to get the dried hairspray off the nozzle so it will spray better. I haven't found anything yet for the price that does as good as a job as this. Good stuff.

Liquid -Sephora - Perfecting Cover Foundation
rated 4 of 5
suzyqz1970 9/19/2011 9:25:00 PM

I have some friends who currently work at Sephora and I was asking them about a good reasonably priced foundation and one of them recommended this. I really like Estee Lauder's Double Wear because my skin is still pretty oily at 40 but it's kinda pricey. I wear NC25 in MAC Studio Fix and Sand Beige in Colorstay for reference. We both decided that the Claire/Light shade was the best for me for the coming winter months. The texture of this is interesting. It did not go on like a matte type foundation yet it wore a lot like Colorstay for me. It also appears to be buildable which is nice but I would caution going to heavy as it could look masky. I know the previous reviewer noted that it made their skin very oily but I did not have that problem. I did not wear a moisturizer today because I wanted to see how it wore through out the day. It lasted almost all day and into the evening for me with one minor blotting during the day. This gave me good coverage and staying power. The color is just a wee light for me right now but by October I'm betting it will be perfect. So far I really like this foundation.

Mascara -Milani - Distinct Lash
rated 4 of 5
suzyqz1970 8/24/2011 9:01:00 PM

It never fails that when I like a product, apparently so does every other woman in my city. Case in point, I went to my local Drug Emporium to buy a new tube of Cover Girl Exact Lash and all that was left was dark brown. Seriously, one freakin' tube!! So grudgingly, I started looking for something that had the same kind of brush. I found that the rubber tipped applicators work better for me than a traditional brush so that's what I went looking for. I first looked at all the typical brands I shop like Revlon, Maybelline, L'Oreal and then I ran across this mascara by Milani. Well, the price wasn't bad so I thought what the heck. Well for ONCE a gamble on my part paid off big time. I LOVE this mascara!! Excellent color saturation, volume, length, and separation. The formula seemed a little wet but nothing i couldn't put up with for how great this mascara is. I think I have a new love....I will say this, my lashes are not naturally long and lush so for this to make such a big difference is really something in my opinion.

Hair Color -Wella - Color Charm Liquid Creme Haircolor
rated 4 of 5
suzyqz1970 8/21/2011 7:39:00 PM

I've been lightening my naturally dark brown (and increasingly grey) hair for about 2 years now and I have experiemented with several different brands of haircolor. For the price, I get a beautiful reddish-goldish-light brown color with 7WR Tan Blonde. You have to buy a separate 20 volume developer but I that makes it more economical in the long run I feel. I get excellent color saturation and grey coverage. I've used other colors that were lovely but none but the color charm liquid gets me grey covered. If you are used to a thicker "bowl and brush" method of color, this will require a bottle for sure. It also requires a 1 part color to 2 part developer ratio which requires a little bit of thought on my part (never was very good in math) but I feel it's very worth it. My color doesn't seem to fade very badly but even when it does, I'm left with a fairly nice goldish but less red brown.

Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
rated 5 of 5
suzyqz1970 7/15/2011 5:12:00 PM

Yes I will buy it again and again and again!!!! Unbelievable chip proof top coat for me. I read the reviews here and adjusted my application process. I use it just after I've painted my 2nd coat before my nails are even all the way dry. I also take the brush and run it horizontally over the tips of my nails. Once dry, my polish stays on WITHOUT A CHIP for one week!! Now, I don't sit around eating bon bons all day either. I work in the yard, I do housework w/o gloves on, etc. I value it more because of it's chip proof capability than the fact it dries my nails quickly. It also leaves a gorgeous shiny coat to boot.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Miracle 7 Leave-In Hair Mist
rated 4 of 5
suzyqz1970 4/23/2011 9:39:00 PM

Wow! If your like me and your experience of leave-in conditioners is that they tend to be pretty weak in the conditioning department, then you really need to try this!!!! I only need a tiny bit for my fine chemically treated hair. My hair feels like silk after I dry it. Wonderful smell too. I have to be a little careful in the application though because I can see myself over-doing it with this product and ending up with limp hair. It's worth the price to me.

Skincare - Body -Avon - Planet Spa African Shea Butter Brown Sugar Scrub
rated 3 of 5
suzyqz1970 3/27/2011 9:50:00 AM

Avon has such great little gems hidden in their line and this is one of them. Great creamy smell, gentle exfoliation and very non-oily. The only downside for me is that I like some heavy duty skin-scrapping exfoliation when I choose to exfoliate and this doesn't have that. Having said that, it will still work as a decent exfoliant. It turns to a creamy consistency when I use it in the shower and at first I thought it was a cleanser as well. I just love the smell too. Very yummy with a definite brown sugar/cream note to it. I got it cheap, cheap too.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Omega

Love it! Think I found a replacement for Jane's Eye-Zing in Rock Star. Great basic light taupe color. Good saturation of color. Unlike Rock Star, I don't have to even use a primer to get good coverage.

Conditioner -Aussie - Hair Insurance Leave In Conditioner
rated 3 of 5
suzyqz1970 3/5/2011 11:56:00 AM

I can't tell exactly how I feel about this leave in just yet. For me, it has a lot to do with the shampoo that precedes it. When I use a more moisturizing shampoo, I love this stuff. Just enough to make my hair easier to comb through wet and doesn't weight down my fine hair. But, if I use a more deep cleansing shampoo, this doesn't provide enough conditioning for me. I think this would be a good option for someone who's hair tends to get oily at the scalp but normal through the rest of their hair.

Shampoo -Ion - Color Solutions - Color Defense
rated 2 of 5
suzyqz1970 3/5/2011 11:53:00 AM

Meh. It's ok. For me though, it seems kind of drying which is kind of odd. When my hair is still wet, it feels kinda of like it has some kind of coating on it but when it's dry is seems like it's been stripped. Weird shampoo. I can't tell if it keeps my hair color from fading because I don't use it enough because I don't like the way it makes my hair feel. I usually really like Ion products but not this one.

I've been on a tart kick lately and I find these tarts hands down the best I've ever used! These are knock-you-down strong in most scents and the throw is incredible! My favorite scents so far are mainly bakery/gourmand but I look forward to trying some more fresh/herbal type scents for the spring/summer. My absolute favorites are Pumpkin Marshmallow Grahams, Bear Claws, Cinnamon Baklava and Pink Clouds. Pam is soooo wonderful to work with and throws in some generous samples as well. These tarts are a great size too.
