Conditioner -L'Oreal - Nature's Therapy Mega Moisture Nurturing Creme
rhg1 6/20/2007 12:51:00 AM
I was hoping to replace my beloved Masquintense (Kerastase) with this since Kerastase is so expensive in the U.S. No such luck. I'm surprised other reviewers likened this to Masquintense. I have fine/abundant, long, highlighted, dry slightly frizzy, slightly wavy hair. (whew). This product is a thick heavy cream. I washed with their moisture shampoo and followed with this, leaving it in about ten minutes. After I rinsed and air-dried,my hair felt coarse and not at all soft or silky. This did do a fair job eliminating some frizz and puffiness but nothing more than a good drugstore intense conditioner will do. Masquintense leaves my hair very soft, weightless and slippery reduces frizz and takes away puffiness. Its my favourite conditioner on the planet. and oh did I look. This conditioner was a big disappointment. Oh the scent--fruity very similar to salon selectives from days of yore.not pretty but not unbearable.

Lotions/ Creams -Korres - Body Butter - Guava

I read and heard a lot about this in London before I left (I've relocated to America) but I never got around to trying it. I saw small tubes at Sephora and bought one for myself and one for my sister. Its smooth and rich and pleasantly scented (tropical-coconut and I'm guessing guava). It ridded me of parched elbows in two days. And my sister, who always had extremely rough and parched hands now has beautiful smooth skin after a few weeks of use. She used to use nivea hand cream or other drugstore handcreams. They gave her no improvements, only temporary softness. She's absolutely thrilled with it. And so am I. Contains:Guava, Shea butter, Sunflower oil, Almond oil,Avocado oil, Quince extract, Red grape polyphenols, glycerine.

I'm surprised there aren't more reviews for this one. Its always sold out when I go to buy it and my manicurist says its her clients' favourite. Perfect sheer milky beige. Warm not cool undertones. Best beige I've ever found. Nails glow and look as others have said beautifully groomed. A little sexy too since it makes my newly tanned hands look more tan. Love it.

Cleansers -Orlane - B21 Purette Purifying Balancing Gel

This is a beautiful cleanser. I gave up on rinse off cleansers a long time ago because they dry me out and or break me out. Tried everyting and began using cream and cloth cleansers which require little cloths and some faffing about. This is a liquid gel cleanser that rinses off.It doesn't dry or cause spots.Leaves skin fresh and soft.It also removes eye makeup. A little goes a very long way so though its pricey I can see a tube lasting for quite some time. Just Excellent. UPDATE: NOPE after a few weeks use my forehead broke out in bumps. this always happens to me when I use a cleanser that is too drying.skin doesn't seem dry after use. but its too drying. --im combination

Lotions/ Creams -Elemis - Intensive Hand Repair Aroma Spa

This is just gorgeous stuff. I've never really been keen on hand creams they often feel awful and appear to do nothing, but a good friend recommended this to me. Absorbs BEAUTIFULLY, and immediately makes skin look smoother and younger. Not a huge fan of the bergamot-i think--scent but it works so wonderfully well I can ignore it.p.s. has made a HUGE difference to my nails too. whiter and less brittle.all around remarkable.

Foundations -Unlisted Brand - Brenda Christian - Remedies Foundation

Strange stuff. Very runny liquid that eventually sets and does indeed change to match skintone. However I find the final result too sheer for my taste unless the foundation is also changing to match the shadows under my eyes and redness around my nose. Doesn't highlight dryness or dry patches but doesn't give me the coverage i want, and I'm very used to sheer now.Regret purchasing, but if you're looking for extra sheer this may be for you.

Crème -Chanel - Teint Compact Creme Universel SPF15

So beautiful while it lasts. Skin looks so smooth and clear and perfect and makeupless. But as others have said this does not set and doesn't last. Also makes t-zone considerably shinier.

Concealers -Giorgio Armani - Skin Retouch concealer
rhg1 10/15/2004 8:05:00 PM
Thrilled.I stopped using concealers under my eyes years ago because of the way they make the skin look-- dryer and more lined than normal. This does not emphasize fine lines and melds very nicely with the skin. The trade-off is that although it offers some coverage its nothing like the coverage of most concealers.Fine by me.Love the tiny compact.

Concealers -Stephane Marais - Concealer

Solid coverage.Long-lasting.A very smooth and non-greasy finish. But like most concealers (apart from GA's) this will highlight otherwise invisible lines under the eye. Fine for the rest of the face.

Liquid -Stephane Marais - Fluid Foundation
rhg1 10/15/2004 7:48:00 PM
Nope. Super slippery feels powdery- i'm guessing silicones- cream in tube. Extra sheer.THe same coverage as YSL's tinted matte moisturiser (but without the pleasant texture and pretty finish). Seems to emphasize every surface bump and pore and catches on any dry or even slightly unexfoliated areas. Expected so much more.

Treatments -Modern Organic Products (MOP) - C-System Reconstructing Treatment

Heard wonderful things about their C-System products. Totally unimpressed. Like many of their products this leaves hair puffy and coarse looking this also gives unpleasant weight. Hair may not be more damaged but it certainly looks it.

Shampoo -Modern Organic Products (MOP) - C-system hydrating shampoo
rhg1 7/26/2004 12:31:00 PM
Hmm. Had a lot of recommendations for this. Easy to work through damaged hair. Leaves a conditioning film that doesn't rinse. Also leaves hair looking very puffy and coarse. Acrid citrus scent. So far the only MOP product I like is their lemongrass shampoo.

Scrubs -Dermalogica - Daily Microfoliant
rhg1 7/1/2004 5:04:00 PM
Nope. This product is too dehydrating. I ignored it for a long time because I thought it would be much like Kanebo's powder exfoliant. Same unusual and fun format-powder in plastic bottle that is mixed with water. This is much creamier than Kanebo's and not as sensitising. But it is still very dehydrating. After using every other day for a several weeks my skin looked much rougher and even broke out which never happens to me.I much prefer the very creamy gentle exfoliants of say Clarins or Guerlain.
