Highlighters -E.L.F. - All Over Color Stick

Golden Peach is such a pretty highlight for warm skin tones. I apply this to the top of my cheekbones then set it (otherwise it wears away w/in a couple hours) with a powder highlight. I've been using Hard Candy's baked blush in Pin Up. It's such a perfect combination. I like the other colors, too, but Golden Peach is my favorite.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Color Infallible Eyeshadow Burning Black 13

I hope this color comes to the States soon.!!!! We should band together and start a petition or something! Yayyyy! It's here in the form of Smoldering Plum!! And it's so gorgeous. This and Bronzed Taupe are my faves. Smoldering Plum is perfect for a smokey eye. I apply a small amount on my lids, then blend out with a lighter plum brown shadow in the crease. Finally, blend it all out w/ a warm soft brown as a gradient to the brow highlight. Love love love. If applied gently, can be daytime friendly.

Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Mineral Eyeshadow in Sassy

This is a beautiful soft, shimmery copper shade that is perfect for those days when you only have time to apply one shadow. This is the shadow you would want to use because it gives the eyes a beautiful glow. It's a copper w/out too much of the red or orange tones that coppers usually have. Very easy to wear, to blend and lasts all day w/ ELF mineral primer or UDPP. Will buy again, but I doubt I will have to; you don't need much and there is a generous amount in the pot.

Lip Gloss -New York Color - Liquid Lip Shine in Sungold Pink
rated 5 of 5
poetsdream7 3/22/2012 9:39:00 AM

This is my fave gloss from NYC. I think they discontinued this color since they repackaged the LLS, or as mentioned they may have renamed it, I don't know. They still have them in Dollar Tree and Big Lots so everytime I spot them I pick up a couple. So, now I have at least 7 backups. I love this gloss alone, giving my lips a pretty subtle golden glow, or over l/s if it needs a little something more, or to be toned down. I also love the cake batter smell. Many may disagree, but I think it's yummy.

Mascara -Revlon - Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara
rated 5 of 5

This is a close enough dupe to Bad Gal but not exact. This formula, the original, is much better, IMO, than the plumping formula. I love volume, but hate clumps. This mascara hugs and separates lashes, yet delivers well, luscious volume. Love this as much as my CG Lash Blast orig.

Eyeliner -Milani - Liquif'eye Metallic eye liner pencil -black

Love this! HE quality liner at a drug store price. What's not to love! Very creamy, intense pay-off. I have them in every color except green (they are always OOS, but I will find one!). The gold one is so gorgeous, the blue one has purple reflects! The retractable ones are a bit less creamy, but that's to be expected, and they are still smoother than most. Only downside: EXTREME pain to sharpen. *TIP* Put in fridge for 15 mins (or freezer for 5). It sharpens beautifully.

Mascara -Revlon - Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara
rated 2 of 5

First of all, I used the orginal GL formula when it first came out and loved it! I spotted this in Target and had to get it, because "plumping" can only mean even more luscious, right? WRONG! I'm not into the clumpy trend that seems on the rise these days. From reading other reviews, it seems this mascara is better for those w/ eyelashes that are already rather full. My lashes are relatively long, but w/ average fullness and very light. I don't understand where this mascara fell short of delivering max volume, as the orginal formula did. The brush is nice and big, like the original, but the formula, I think, might be just a bit thinner (?). I don't know. Anyway, this mascara did not work for me. I should have stuck with the original.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Paradise
rated 4 of 5
poetsdream7 10/28/2011 9:12:00 AM

This is my kind of nude. Nude to me means a shade close to my lip color, but much better; "fleshy" colors that look like I have life in my lips, not the blanked out beiges and pale pale pinks that make me look like I'm about to pass over. The colorless "nude" lip trend is on its way out, I think. It just seems so dated by now. My quite pigmented lips are a browny pink color, so this lipstick gives me a polished, finished look. It gives my whole face a boost of subtle color,

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Single - Kitten 257A
rated 3 of 5

I found the pigmentation on this very weak, as many reviewers did. I tried it on top of techno, the purple WnW "jumbo pencil", which has really terrible pigmentation, as well. Well, the two together perform beautifully. The pencil gives the shadow a pretty iridescent sheen. Try it. It's not super pigmented, but it's definitely an improvement.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Idol Eyes - Creme Shadow Pencil - Distress
rated 4 of 5

I agree with a previous reviewer that these don't set, but they aren't meant to set. Like the NYX JEP's they are creamy and a bit greasy, and set beautifully if applied sparingly, a thin layer, w/ a shadow placed over them. My faves are the dark blue and gunmetal shades, which are great bases for a smokey eye, and will enhance any deep, smokey shadow you place on top. They are no more "greasy" than the NYX JEP's.And, except for one of the pencils, they are every bit as pigmented. There aren't as many to choose from, and all of them have a slightly metallic finish (which I really like), as compared to the JEP's. These pencil shadows are well worth trying, IMO. They are accessible and very affordable, so what have you got to lose?

Eyeliner -E.L.F. - Shimmer Eye Liner
rated 3 of 5
poetsdream7 9/4/2011 9:28:00 AM

If you're looking for staying power, these liners are not the way to go. They have a pretty sheen and they're creamy & pigmented. And...they make incredible bases, which is the only thing I use them for. Since they don't set like other long lasting liners, there is plenty of time to play around and get your placement right. They are really good, considering the $1 price tag. Just don't expect more than they are capable of.

Blush -E.L.F. - All Over Color Stick in Golden Peach
rated 5 of 5
poetsdream7 8/27/2011 10:54:00 AM

This is my fave highlighter. I already have 3 backups of this product. A bit obsessive, I know, but it's so tiny and the historical odds are, if I love something it will be discontinued...so I buy backups. And it's only $1, so not likely to break me to buy as many as I want. Anyway, this is the ideal color for my skintone. Not too frosty and light, as many highlighters tend to be. I'm light-med skintone, leaning more med. The other color sticks in the line are to pinky or too white & frosty. This one is perfect. The shimmering facial whip in this color is nice, too. But I prefer the stick.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Studio Angled Contour Brush
rated 5 of 5
poetsdream7 8/18/2011 12:29:00 AM

I totally agree w/ northernrainpour; this brush is the ideal brush for blending concealer under the eyes. I bought this brush nearly a year ago and have used it maybe twice. It is way too big for my smallish eyes. It does a great job blending, but I prefer smaller brushes. The shape is made for tapping on then blending in concealer; also cleaning up the outer corner of the eye. I'm going to buy a couple more just to have them on hand. My new Love!

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Spark it Up Eyeliner in Tigers Eye
rated 4 of 5
poetsdream7 8/9/2011 2:54:00 PM

This eyeliner is a beautiful shimmery (not glittery) bronzey gold(or topaz) browney shade. Hard to describe b/c it is pretty unique. Gives neutral office looks a little glamour. It's creamy enough to use as a base. If you depend on staying power from this liner...don't It's not smudge proof, but that's not one of it's claims. If you smudge it then set w/ a shadow, it will last, and it gives shadows a subtle sheen. I consider this one of my standbys. I have plenty of long lasting eyeliners, but for some reason this one smudgy little pencil will always have a place in my heart.

Eye Shadow -New York Color - Individual Eyes 938U Union Square
rated 3 of 5
poetsdream7 8/9/2011 7:58:00 AM

I bought this palette because I liked the bronze shadow, and I was curious about the primer, which some say is pretty good (It is!). Now, I have tons of bronze shadows, so I really didn't need this...I just wanted to buy something that day...well, you know how it is. Anyway, the bronze shade is very pretty. The eggplant shade is nice, but not deep or strong enough to be a definer shade, for me, anyway. I would use it on the lid, for a smokey purple look. All in all, this was a random, impulse buy. Not something I really needed. I don't regret the purchase, as I reach for this nice, neutral palette quite often, especially for work (I work in an office). But, I doubt I would repurchase. There are other, better neutral palettes out there.
