Shampoo -Burt's Bees - Rosemary Mint Shampoo Bar
meltywarhol 9/27/2009 10:50:00 PM
I am shocked, SHOCKED I tell you that this product is still on the market. It is just so godawful. I'm not picky at all about shampoo, and I had a sample of this from a little trial size kit (where most of us seem to have gotten them), so I thought I'd go ahead and use it so it wasn't lying around in my bathroom. I even read the reviews on here and thought "It can't possibly be THAT bad." WRONG! It really does leave my hair feeling like it has residue on it, but that's only when it's wet. It feels ok when it's dry, but it's just so DULL looking. If I take a break and go back to a regular shampoo then it's shiny again. I like the idea of shampoo in a bar form with a paper wrapper and no plastic bottle to add to the landfill, but I also am vain enough to care if my hair is shiny, dammit! I hear LUSH makes shampoo bars, so now I'm curious to try one just to see if the concept is better executed, but this one, um no. It IS fine for washing body/hands with, so no need to let it go totally to waste. It also doesn't really smell like rosemary or mint.

Concealers -Physicians Formula - Powder Finish Concealer (yellow)
meltywarhol 9/27/2009 10:09:00 PM
I wanted to try this because I had read that yellow concealers can be useful for covering redness, and my undereye circles are distinctly red/purpleish, plus my skin has a natural yellow cast to it, so I thought it would blend well. And I've had good luck with other yellow concealers (Mary Kay and Benefit) but this one is just no good! It has a very chalky whitish base--maybe what they call "powder finish" is what I call dry and chalky, but it's no good for dry skin, and it makes it hard to blend, and it just looked too white. I had to put foundation over it to make it sort of work, and I normally don't use much foundation at all so that's an extra step I could avoid, plus it was still too white looking in the sun. Blah.

Self Tanners -Victoria's Secret - Bare Bronze Gleaming Self-Tan Body Tint
meltywarhol 4/26/2008 8:23:00 PM
This is a self-tanner with a gel texture, and a visible shimmery broze color, which is nice, since you can see where you put it, but not nice when it comes off all over your towels. Unfortunately, just like the Bare Bronze mousse, this made my legs itch like crazy, so there's something in here that irritates my skin. It smells nice, like coconut.

Self Tanners -Victoria's Secret - Bare Bronze Sheer Self-Tan Mousse
meltywarhol 4/26/2008 8:00:00 PM
I liked how easy it was to apply this evenly, but it's not moisturizing at all so my skin felt dry and tight, and then it came off all over my towel and made a mess and THEN it started making my legs itch like crazy. I thought it might have been because they were too dry so I stopped using it for awhile then when I went back and tried it again, the itch came right back, so clearly there's something in here that irritates my skin. It does smell nice, but oh well.

Self Tanners -Victoria's Secret - Bare Bronze Daily Glow Moisturizer
meltywarhol 4/26/2008 7:55:00 PM
I found this to be way too thick and waxy and impossible to apply evenly. I got this blotchy look on my legs that was not hot. It does smell good though, like coconut. :)

Lip Gloss -Sugar Cosmetics - Sugar Slicks Lip Gloss
meltywarhol 4/26/2008 7:48:00 PM
Not for me. The one I had looked pink in the tube but went on clear with gigantic blue glitter that looked disco-obvious, and felt gritty like I had kitty litter stuck to my lips. They do smell nice, but the quality is average.

Fragrances -Origins - Spring Fever
meltywarhol 4/26/2008 7:07:00 PM
I used to love Spring Fever, enough that I thought it was full bottle worthy and bought it. It smelled like fresh cut grass and lemon and watermelon and it was so fresh and perfect for spring, but alas, it seems that my chemistry has begun to reject it. Like another reviewer mentioned, I had the same reaction to this as I did to Clinique Happy, another one I used to love: the citrus top notes got very harsh and overbearing with wear and I started to smell like a citronella candle. And as much I like repelling mosquitoes, it's not for me. Fragrance notes, according to the Origins website: Origins gathered spring's most uplifting aromas including Artemesia, Apple, Marigold and Linden Blossom and tickled them with tangy Mandarin, lush Cypress and sparkling Watermelon to capture the irresistible sensation of a sunny spring day.

Lipstick -Victoria's Secret - Very Sexy Perfect Lipstick in Stiletto
meltywarhol 6/20/2007 11:10:00 PM
This is a slightly reddish deep plum, that is nearly matte, so it's a dramatic color, but unlike most dark colors it fades beautifully, so it doesn't require vigilance with reapplication. Worn over a nude lip pencil, it lasts forever, with the color just becoming softer over time, and I get so many compliments when I wear this.

Lipstick -Victoria's Secret - Very Sexy Perfect Lipstick in Last Kiss
meltywarhol 6/7/2007 4:50:00 PM
Last Kiss is a great red. It's a little cooler, and pinker than the other VS reds, Don't Stop and Slow Burn, so it looks brighter on, but it's still quite wearable, if you can pull off a bright red lipstick. From a distance of a few feet it looks basically matte, but from up close you can see that it has the finest shimmer to it. This is the kind of color that's a wardrobe basic. The lasting power is average: three or four hours if you don't eat or drink.

Lipstick -Victoria's Secret - Very Sexy Perfect Lipstick in Kiss Me
meltywarhol 6/5/2007 10:55:00 AM
Kiss me is a coral-ish pink, sort of like Tease, but pinker, and with a nifty pink iridescence. It is a very pretty color, and the lipstick has a soft, comfortable texture, but it fades quickly, so I found myself reapplying frequently to maintain that pretty shine.

Lipstick -Victoria's Secret - Smooth Talk Creamy Lip Color - Sex Kitten
meltywarhol 5/31/2007 4:12:00 PM
From reading the other reviews, it appears that the "Very Sexy Perfect LIpstick" version of Sex Kitten is indeed a different color now than the original. The one I used is a medium violet color, like when my mom planted petunias, and some were dark purple, some were white and some were a color exactly in the middle, this is like that middle color. It has a bit of shimmer to it, and looks good on me, but I'm not shy about color, and wear a lot of purple. The lasting power is normal for a lipstick: it loses shine after a couple of hours, but the color will stay for about four hours if you don't eat or drink.

Lipstick -Victoria's Secret - Very Sexy perfect lipstick- VIP
meltywarhol 5/24/2007 10:42:00 AM
I have been wearing this color a lot, with a smoky eye and a bit of gloss over it for extra shine, and I get compliments all the time. I'm really more a fan of dark lipsticks, since the pale ones just wash me out, but this one works remarkably well. In the tube it looks like beige with gold shimmer, but on my skin it looks like a soft pink, and it's about as dark as my natural lip color, so it doesn't make me look dead. It just looks sexy! I really love it.

Lipstick -Victoria's Secret - Very Sexy Perfect Lipstick in Don't Stop
meltywarhol 5/18/2007 1:42:00 PM
"Don't stop" is obviously a play on the stop-sign-red color, but it's not really a primary, crayola red. It's a bit darker, with brown undertones, which makes it easier to wear than its neighbor, Slow Burn, which is more of a true red. It's a very sophisticated, creamy color, which is nearly matte. This is the kind of color that is a wardrobe staple, and if I didn't already have a shameful number of lipsticks, I would have to have it. :D

Lipstick -Victoria's Secret - Very Sexy Perfect Lipstick in Love Bite
meltywarhol 5/16/2007 3:22:00 PM
Love Bite is very interesting; when I first tried it on, I kept asking people what color they thought it was, since it seemed to me to be some kind of strange red/coral/pink hybrid. The consensus is that it is indeed a red, but a very soft one, with coral undertones. I would say that it's a red for those who fear bold reds, sort of like Clinique's Summer Rose (which I wore to my wedding), but more orangey. It looks fantastic on me, and I've been wearing it happily for days. The texture is soft, a bit glossy, with some soft shimmer, and the staying power is normal for a lipstick of its texture: it loses its glossiness after about two hours, but the color will remain for up to four hours if you don't eat or drink.

Lipstick -Victoria's Secret - Very Sexy Perfect Lipstick in Slow Burn
meltywarhol 5/11/2007 1:45:00 PM
Slow Burn is a matte, near-primary red that looks gorgeous and sophisticated on me. Of course if you cannot pull off red lipsticks you will know to stay far far away, but I'm a red lipstick kind of girl and I love this one. It reminds me of Lancome Rouge Sensation in Plumage, which is a favorite of mine, and of course discontinued, so when it runs out or turns funky from age, I will be quite likely to replace it with Slow Burn. Like any matte lipstick, the effect can be mellowed by wearing a bit of gloss over it, (but it looks great on its own), and it lasts quite well. I even ate an apple yesterday and still had plenty of visible color to my lips.
