Foundations -Chanel - Lift Lumiere Fluid
arodwhat 2/22/2010 5:44:00 PM
This is expensive, but worth it. For reference, I am nw 15 or 20 and I have it in the shade ivoire, which is just a little too dark for me in winter. I mix it with le blanc de Chanel(which I love!) and it lightens it up. To apply, I use my philosophy air brush brush. I first put moisturizer on with the brush, then I blend together le blanc with lift lumiere and blend it all over. I set it with a loose powder or BE mineral veil and it lasts all day. I only wear it on weekends so I can't tell if it would break me out if I wore it everyday, but I can say that this is my favorite foundation. I have seen a noticeable improvement in my make up when I have it on. It looks like I'm not wearing any at all. My skin in pictures looks so good too, really dewy and not oily. It doesn't settle into lines or pores either. Probably my new HG! UPDATE: This is an HG for me in fall/winter/spring (I'm a little too oily to use it in summer). It's my fave foundation!

Primer/ Corrector -Chanel - Le Blanc de Chanel - Sheer Illuminating Base
arodwhat 2/22/2010 5:32:00 PM
I received this practically full from a very generous swapper, and it is love! I wore it once alone and wasn't too keen on it, but I have been mixing it with my lift lumiere(also love) and it makes my skin look great! It is dewy but not oily, and with a setting powder, my make up lasts all day and night. I think this was LE but if they offered it again, I would definitely buy! My skin does break out easily, but I can't tell if it really causes break outs because I only wear it on weekends. This product is also great because my lift lumiere in ivoire is a little too dark for me in winter, so it helps to lighten it. If you can find it, but it!!

Palettes -Chantecaille - Syvlie Personal Palette (2009)
arodwhat 2/22/2010 4:30:00 PM
I am considering buying a back up for this, which I rarely do. This palette is so beautiful and versatile. For reference I am a PPP cool toned. I think this is a pretty neutral palette b/c warm and cool girls are digging it. The first reviewer did a good job of describing colors, so I won't. I bought this immediately after the SA did my eyes with it. She first put on the colors in a very subtle way and it just looked classic. I told her I was going out that night, so she added more of the darkest color for a smokey eye, and it looked beautiful! Like the first reviewer said, it looked magazine quality. For people that think it's not pigmented enough, you have to layer it and you will get the look you want. It's meant to be subtle, but can be made bolder after layering. If I want an even more sultry look, I put mac black grease paintstick on my waterline. And the blush is beautiful and high quality. This is the one palette I would take with me on a vacay if I could only take one. It has it all. I really can't rave enough about it.

Tinted Moisturizer -Physicians Formula - Organic Wear

I didn't even end up using this on my face. I tried it out on the back of my hand, and it had a greasy feeling to it. Also, it irritated a scratch that I didn't even know I had until I put this stuff on. The scratch was non-existent, then I put this stuff on and it burned and made it all red. I then read the reviews on here, and someone else said it burned her face and made it red, so I'm def not even attempting the face!

Polishes -Essie - Lovie Dovie
arodwhat 9/24/2009 10:21:00 AM
I haven't bought this product yet, but I intend to. I just got a pedicure using it and it is too cute! The color just makes me feel so...lovie dovie. The reviewer below me is right in saying that you need three coats otherwise it's streaky, but that's okay because the end result makes it worth the extra coat needed. It is almost a pepto bismol pink, but a shade lighter and brighter, which on my toenails is exactly what I want! It makes my feet look tanner somehow, and it is just so girly that I love it. Definitely need to find this color.

Mascara -Chantecaille - Faux Cils Mascara
arodwhat 9/16/2009 8:00:00 PM
An MUA used this new mascara on me the other day (I think it's new this fall), and it is amazing. I have used countless mascaras, and no matter the brand or price, they have all managed to smudge on my oily skin after a few hours. I have settled on L'Oreal Beauty tubes because that is the only mascara that has stayed on until I take it off. That is, until this mascara came along. I haven't bought it yet, but I think I am going to have to because the MUA put it on at around 3 in the afternoon and it didn't come off until 2 in the morning when I washed my face after a night of bar hopping and walking in the rain. It was very easy to take off with just warm water too. This mascara lengthens, thickens, and even has a somewhat shiny finish so your lashes don't like dry or brittle. I also heard that Chantecaille's mascaras can last longer than others (ie-longer shelf life, you can use it for a year and it won't go bad) so I think it would actually be worth it to buy it.

Lip Gloss -BeneFit Cosmetics - Her Glossiness - Life on the A List [DISCONTINUED]
arodwhat 9/16/2009 12:23:00 PM
This is my favorite color of all of the Her Glossiness lip glosses. It is a pink/peach color that brightens your look. I actually ran out and I will def be buying it again. I did take off one lippie because it is somewhat sticky so on windy days my hair tends to get stuck to it.

Crème -Chantecaille - Future Skin
arodwhat 9/16/2009 11:46:00 AM
This stuff is AMAZING! First off, I do not wear any liquid or cream foundation all over my face, ever. My face is so dry and breaks out easily but at the same time gets really oily so it's always been difficult to wear any foundation besides my BE mineral foundation. When I go to get my make up done, the MUAs always have the worst time putting on foundation and are always so surprised by how flaky and gross my face becomes with it. It's a waste of time and embarrassing and it ruins my makeovers because I just got home and wash it off! Well, I went to the Chantecaille counter over the weekend and the MUA asked if she could put this foundation on me. I was skeptical and I said fine, you can try, but it's not going to be pretty...but it was! She used Porcelain on me. When I looked in the mirror, I was amazed at how smooth my skin looked. At $68, this stuff is not cheap. I was uneasy about spending so much on a foundation since I don't even wear it, but now, Future Skin makes me excited to put on my make up! I have been wearing it for the past couple of days with no break outs(and I break out easily!), and no dry, uneven looking makeup. It's just smooth sailing. I apply it the way the MUA applied it which is, gasp, with my fingers! I know that's a big faux pas (since I'm reviewing a French line I thought I'd throw a little French in there), but I actually think it applies better on my face that way. I use a Q-tip to get a small amount, then use my finger to put a dab on my forehead, cheeks, chin, and nose, and then I just blend away. I set it with the Chantecaille loose powder in Light, and I'm good to go. It gives me a dewy look and it lasts all day. Definitely going to buy again but hopefully it will last awhile since it's so freaking expensive! UPDATE: Two months later, and I am still loving this stuff. I get compliments pretty much every time I wear it! It has a way of making my complexion look flawless(which it's not), and it makes my other make up and appearance look pulled together. Def recommend:)

Bronzers -Chantecaille - Chantecaille Capri Powder Bronzer
arodwhat 8/27/2009 10:27:00 AM
LOVE this bronzer! I was on a bronzer kick around ohh, five years ago, when I realized that in pictures I looked WAY orange. I thought I looked awesome until I realized that I really didn't. So I swore off all bronzers, and just went along in my pasty ways. Fast forward five years, and somehow I stumbled upon the reviews of Capri and I was like hmm, could it be? Could this be a rekindling of my love for bronzers? It sure sounded like it. Well, I was lucky enough to swap for this, and it IS. It is true love. Capri is so natural looking. It is not orange at all but actually looks like a tan that you might get if you were out in the sun for an hour(using sunscreen of course!:) ) It is a true light brown with maybe some slight pink to it? I am pretty pale with cool to neutral undertones and this suits me perfectly. I think it would be okay for warmer skin tones as well though. I def would swap for this again, or even purchase if need be.

Eye Shadow -BeneFit Cosmetics - Creaseless Cream Shadow/ Liner in Marry Up
arodwhat 8/5/2009 9:52:00 AM
I actually received this full sized product as an extra in a swap (had only been used once--so nice!), and I love it. I use it mainly in the crease with my Kevyn Aucoin Pristine Eye Prime Color all over the lid, and it is beautiful! I also match it with the pink from the CD Earth Reflection quint for another beautifully natural look. This stuff seriously doesn't crease on me, and pretty much everything does. I was skeptical because it's a cream eye shadow, but when I put this on, it doesn't crease all day. It doesn't crease when I wear it out at night. I can even wear it to bed (I know, a total no-no) and then wake up in the morning and it still hasn't creased! I will definitely be trying other colors of this product because I love it...

Eye Shadow -Kevyn Aucoin - The Prime Color Creme Eye Shadow in Deceit
arodwhat 8/5/2009 9:44:00 AM
I am actually commenting on this product but in Pristine, a light champagne color. I love this stuff! It is a beautiful, natural color with a nice shimmer. It doesn't crease, and it lasts all day! I put this all over the lid with Benefit's Marry Up in the crease, and it is such a great look. The applicator can be kind of a pain if you click it too much, but you just have to click once, wait a second to see if anything comes out, click, repeat. If you click too much and then wait, that's when you have product overload. I think the product as a whole is very sleek and fancy looking. It is expensive, but I think it will last awhile, and I will definitely buy it again because it is a staple for me. I did also buy this in Deceit, but I tested the color and it was too warm for me, so I immediately put it up for swap.

Treatments (Eye) -Philosophy - Eye Hope Advanced Anti-Aging Eye Cream
arodwhat 7/31/2009 9:52:00 AM
Ugh, this stuff is the worst! I got it as a sample in a swap and was excited to try it. The first night it was fine. It's pretty thick, so I liked that for night time. The second night, I must have gotten a tiny bit in my eye somehow, so all night my eye was itching and burning. When I woke up, my eye was bright red. I have used plenty of other eye creams before and this has never happened, and I'm sure I've gotten the others in my eyes and just never noticed because they didn't cause a reaction. Needless to say, I will def not be purchasing it.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Midnight Cowboy Rides Again
arodwhat 7/29/2009 9:48:00 AM
Eee, so I love the color in the pan. And that's where my love for it ends. I put it on this morning before work for the first time--big mistake. I have glitter all over my face and it won't come off! Maybe if I worked in the circus, putting it on before work could possibly get me a promotion. I mean, I love the circus, but in an office setting it's best not to look like you are about to make children laugh (or cry?) for a living. I don't think I will ever be using this again, even for night time. I feel like maybe younger gals could get away with the glitter and it would look good, but it just doesn't work for a mid-twenty-something.

Eye Shadow -Chantecaille - Protect Paradise Eye Compact
arodwhat 7/25/2009 11:45:00 PM
I received this in a swap due to a very generous swapper, and I am so grateful that I did! It looks so beautiful in the pan that I almost didn't want to use it, but thankfully, I did. I seriously am so happy about this palette that I feel like I need to find another somewhere just for back up in case this huge palette ever does run out. I must admit, due to all of the positive reviews on here, I was expecting something amazingly different with the eye shadow colors, and at first, I was a little disappointed. I put it on and I thought, "This is just a grayish color like any other, nothing too exciting." But I was way wrong--it IS amazingly different. You can build on the color and it looks beautiful. It is so smooth and really does go on like a dream. You can go light on the brush, and it has a more daytime look; put on a little more shadow, and you can have smoking eyes. I put the main color (gray/blue) all over my lid, then I also put it in my crease and go a little heavy in the crease with it. Then, I use the peach color over top of the gray just on the inner half of my lid for highlighting. Lastly, I use the turquoise color to lightly line my top and bottom lids, and also put a little turquoise in the crease. Finish it off with some mascara and you have a great look. I LOVE this palette. And it doesn't hurt that the compact itself is beautiful as well.

Eye Shadow -Christian Dior - 5 Colour Eyeshadow - Earth Reflection 609
arodwhat 7/25/2009 11:29:00 PM
I LOVE this quint! I received this in a swap due to a very generous swapper and out of the two CD quints that I now have, it is def my fave. Out of all of my eye shadow palettes in general, it is one of two favorites. All of the colors go on so smoothly and you can really work with it to look natural for a day look or more bold for night time. I would still like to try Iridescent Leather, but I really think that this might be the best quint that CD has, at least for me.
