Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush

With the NARS Orgasm Blush, I heard so many great reviews in magazines and from friends that when I went to go and buy it for myself I was still feeling a little skeptical. After actually testing it and deciding that it didn't seem all that bad, I went ahead and bought it on a whim, thinking that the store lighting wasn't helping me make up my mind and that I needed to really try it out for myself. I ended up going home, putting it on and saw in the mirror that my face was reflecting light! After a careful inspection I saw that the blush actually contains little flecks of gold, which is something I don't expect to find in my blush. I still shunned it though and went out for the day hoping that I didn't blind someone with my reflective cheeks. Later when I went to go touch up my makeup, I saw that my cheeks looked so blotchy and that the gold flecks had just made my face appear like I had just come from the circus! The thing about this blush is that even though it is quite a versatile and flattering colour, the gold flecks in it might not suit some people. The texture of the blush itself it very nice aswell, which is what I expect from a company like NARS, but in the long run it might not suit combination or oily skin in hot/humid weather.

Lip Gloss -Maybelline - shiny-licious in crushed candy
rated 3 of 5

This gloss is not that special. It look very pretty in the and feels lightweight on my lips as well as gives them a little more 'omph' than a clear gloss ever would, but I'm still on the fence about it. It gives my lips a healthy looking glossy look but it doesn't seem to last all that long. I found that the tip of the pen can get quite messy but apart from that this gloss goes really well with just about any lip colour. I most likely wont repurchase again since to be honest I'm that great a fan of gloss and this one to me isnt all that special, but I will admit it is very versatile and easy to use.

Lip Treatments -The Body Shop - Lip Butter - Shea
rated 4 of 5

This was the very first lip butter by The Body shop that I ever bought and finished and I will say that I always have a pot of it somewhere. The smell is delicious but not overpowering and the same goes for the taste. The packaging is simple and the pot itself can fit just about anywhere. I find lip butters by The Body Shop reasonably priced and don't find them to be that much of an investment. Out of all the lip butters that I have tried this one is definitely near the top of the list! It keeps my lips well moisturised and feeling great and I will definitely repurchase again in the future!

Lip Treatments -The Body Shop - Lip Butter - Mango

I love The Body Shop's Lip Butters! The mango taste and smell are wonderful and my lips felt moisturised and look great too. The price is reasonable and so it the packaging but I wouldn't buy it again as I personally prefer the Born Lippy Balms by The Body Shop instead ;)

Lip Treatments -The Body Shop - The Body Shop Lipscuff
rated 3 of 5
3lla 2/7/2009 5:29:00 AM

To be honest there is nothing that special about this product. I could easily do the same thing that this product is intended to do with simply my toothbrush and lip butter. Lipscuff does not stand out from other lip products that I have previously used and I would rather save my pennies for something much more useful than this.

Lip Treatments -The Body Shop - Pink Grapefruit Lip Butter

bleh! I usually love the lip butter from The Body Shop and this was horrendous! It ended up clumping togehter in the pot after a few uses and then also dried out my lips instead of moisturisd them. What a waste. I'll stick to my usual lip butter next time.

Powders -Smashbox - Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder
rated 5 of 5
3lla 2/7/2009 5:06:00 AM

This has to be one of the best investments in makeup I have ever made! I bought Halo in Light as what Smashbox determines as light is a near perfect match for skin, and so I went ahead and tried out the powder. The first time, I applied it wrong and with a bad brush no less so I ended up looking cakey and near orange. After that I thought that maybe I had once again invested in a crappy piece of makeup, but I was determined to love this product and after speaking to a makeup artist about application I once again tried Halo and VOILA! My skin looked luminous and didn't feel dry or cakey at all! The great thing about his powder is that I can use it by itself or over a tinted moisturiser/foundation and it still manages to look great after a 16 hour day. Another thing is the packaging. The twist release system is ingenius! I can get the right about of powder with each application but the only problem I have with it is that the packaging itself is very big and can get messy when you're travelling around. As for price, this stuff is very pricey, but the results are worth the investment.

Lip Gloss -Smashbox - O-GLOSS
rated 3 of 5
3lla 2/6/2009 4:42:00 PM

To be honest I thought this gloss was a waste of my time. I bought it thinking that it would be as good as O-Glow, and damn was I wrong. It managed to turn my lips into a sort of fuschia colour which did not look nice at all. And then after all that, it came off within an hour. The gloss itself is ok, it feels hydrating and I will admit my lips felt very soft after wearing it, but I would rather not have my lips be bright pink on a daily basis.

Highlighters -Yves Saint Laurent - Touche Eclat No 1

Well, I dont really know what to say. There have been days when this magic oen makes me looks alive and stunningly awake, and then there have been days when ths pen hasnt done anything at all. On the good days my face looks radiant and alive. I use it under my eyes with some concealer aswel as a highllighter. The golden pen looks gorgeous in my makeup bag but the price makes me wonder if it is really worth it. I guess I will have to continue using it and see how it turns out overall.

Moisturizers -The Body Shop - Vitamin E Moisture Cream
rated 4 of 5
3lla 2/6/2009 4:31:00 PM

This cream is perfect and lightweight for everyday use on my skin. It doesn't clog the more oily areas on my face and it hydrates the drier areas very well. My skin feels plumper and smoother aswell as much softer after I began using this product. It does not feel heavy but instead refreshing and light, and this cream also creates a smooth, beautiful base for my makeup. I am sure I will buy it again!

Foundations -Yves Saint Laurent - Perfect Touch Radiant Brush Foundation
rated 3 of 5
3lla 11/12/2008 8:04:00 AM

I love this foundation to bits! It makes my skin look so fresh and doesn't weigh it down so I feel like I'm in my own skin. It also keeps my very dry skin looking wonderful throughout the day. My only problem is that they have such a limited amount of shades to choose from. At the moment I'm using shade no.6 and it seems to match nicely but it's quite dark sometimes. My sister uses shade no.4 so I tried that on my own skin and it was too pink. I'll head on over to the shop and try out shade no.5 to see how it is, and hopefully it will match my skin better than the one I currently have. EDIT: This foundation after a while began to break me out and actually made my skin without makeup look dull. What a shame because shade no.5 was quite a nice match to my skin. Maybe if I move to a different climate I'll try this foundation again, but for now it's 3 lippies

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #187 Duo Fiber Face Brush (Stippling, Skunk Brush)
rated 5 of 5
3lla 9/22/2008 10:29:00 AM

I bought this brush the other day because I thought I really deserved a splurge and heard so many great reviews about this brush. Now it is quite expensive, but it definitely makes up for the cost. I have been using my 187 brush to apply my MAC Full Coverage foundation in NC30 since I found that using a normal foundation brush just made me look cakey and felt incredibly heavy on my face. MY WORD my skin look amazing after applying Full Coverage with this brush. Seriously amazing. The bristles are soft and versatile enough to make this brush good for blushes, but I haven't tried it with a blush yet. I'm saving for the smaller size stippling brush by mac to use with a good cream blush. It is definitely worth buying, just make sure you take good care of it as the bristles are more than likely going to fall out if you don't regularly clean them.

Makeup Brushes -Pout - Foundation Brush
rated 4 of 5
3lla 9/11/2008 5:12:00 PM

Seeing as this was my first and only foundation brush I can't really compare to say MACs 190, but I really do love this brush. Ive had it for years now and still not a single bristle has fallen out ! It applies my foundation (MAC studio fluid spf15 in NC20) without any streaks and makes my face look natural and ethereal. The pink handle is adorably cute and the bristles are a good quality, and seeing as it's quite cheap compared to other foundation brushes I guess I should go get another one! The only thing that annoys me though is that they seem to collect foundation very easily in the bristles so then I have to clean the brush regularly only to find my sink turning into bits of my MAC NC20 foundation! I just wish it wouldn't waste that little bit of my foundation, but in general I recommend this brush.

Mascara -Maybelline - Define A Lash
rated 4 of 5
3lla 9/11/2008 5:04:00 PM

Quite a nice everyday mascara if you're a student who isnt supposed to wear makeup to school. I bought this in brownish-black since I wanted something that looked natural, but still stood out a bit yet not to the point where teachers begin to call me Tammy Faye. The wand is quite easy to use, the first time I used it I poked myself in the eye with the bristles but I pretty much do that with every mascara I own. It separates very nicely, giving my sort stumpy lashes some definition and volume. I do get concerned about the mascara wand from time to time though....there are days when I really think it will break but it somehow just bends and keeps applying wonderfully. A good buy for people rushing around who want to make their eyes stand out just that little bit.

Lipstick -MAC - Satin Lipstick - Myth
rated 4 of 5
3lla 9/11/2008 4:52:00 PM

Perfect for a nude lip look for those who want to look fresh and natural or have a sexy smokey eye. I first took a look at this lipstick in the store thinking it looks white, but it spreads to a beautiful creamy natural skin tone on my lips. I'm a sucker for cute packaging, and just the fact that MAC lipsticks come in adorably cute sizes just made me love this lipstick even more. It makes me look so icy and enigmatic yet not so intimidating when I go out. Gorgeous. Will definitely buy again even if it is a little bit pricey. It's worth it.
