Mascara -Lancome - Courbe Virtuose (Divine Lasting Curves)
yelloworange 9/8/2007 6:07:00 PM
I found this mascara to be hard and crispy when it dries. I also found it to be incredibly hard to take off. I used Neutrogena makeup remover cloths first and then 2 different eye makeup removers and I still could not get it completely off. But my eyes were sure sore. I guess it gave a little curl but overall for the price it was not worth it. I actually returned it, which is something I don't do often.

Lipstick -Clinique - Long Last Soft Shine in Sugared Maple
yelloworange 9/6/2007 5:26:00 PM
I lucked out on this one. I just received it with a Clinique GWP and I thought "yeah another frosty dark lippy that goes into the bottom depths of the lipstick bin. But I put it on and was amazed. It looks great on me. It's a very warm rosey bronze with a silver-ish gleam that keeps it from looking muddy or too brown. I can wear this with a lot of different makeup looks. It has a lot of pigment but its not too dark to wear in daytime. It's very lightweight on the lips. There are two things about it I don't like. One, it could be more hydrating (feels a little drying as it wears off) and Two, it's got a little too much shimmer. Not too much but a little less and it would be a HG for me. Still would buy it.

Liquid -Prescriptives - Virtual Matte
yelloworange 9/3/2007 2:32:00 PM
I use Virtual Matte in Vellum. I alternate between this and Virtual Skin in Vellum depending on my needs for the day. It definitely lives up to it's name as Satin Matte. If you want a medium to full coverage foundation that glides on and blends incredibly well then this is it. It gives a very polished slightly satin illuminating matte look. Great for work or special events. I don't usually powder over but do touch up the oilys around nose and mouth with PX Virtual Matte powder (level2). Yes, it is a little heavier feel on the face but it is great when you need it. You can always easily sheer it out with a damp sponge. You need very little and I usually just blend it around and out from my nose and mouth with a makeup brush. Does not make me break out. I would think this would be a godsend for people with acne or rough oily skin. Px foundation are far better than any Mac or other high end cosmetics.

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Lipstick- Rose Tea
yelloworange 8/31/2007 10:53:00 PM
I'm pale complected with golden blondish/copper hair and green eyes. I have a warm light yellow undertone with very light mauve tone lips. I looked washed out without lip color but want to be able to do a nude lip. Rose Tea is perfect. It's MLBB but has a kinda sexy bardot look to it. It has a touch of tan (hence the tea part) that keeps the pink from being too, well, pink! Highly recommend for fair ladies. Very smooth and moisturizing but it is a little glossy and little matte. Love it.

Blush -NARS - Deep Throat
yelloworange 8/28/2007 9:40:00 PM
The best thing about this blush or any Nars blush for that matter is the quality. It's a soft lighter peach with a natural radiant soft shimmer that just MELDS with your skin. I have oily skin and want to be able to wear creme blush to give me a more natural, less powdery look but it always ends up concentrating in circles on my cheeks as the day goes on. Nars blushes solves this problem. When you choose the right color for your skin tone it really does look like it's coming from within. These are the highest quality blushes period. For reference I am pale with yellow undertones. I also want to add that most women could make most of colors work for them and they last a long time. HG

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - HydraLight Moisture-Infusing Lotion
yelloworange 8/24/2007 8:42:00 PM
This sits on my bathroom counter. I can't bring myself to throw it away. The smell has been described in many ways but to this reviewer it smells like mold! I am very tolerant of unpleasant smells in cosmetics and skincare but I couldn't get past this one. It has a nice intense moisture feel and I would have liked to use it around my eyes, but that's too close to my nose. Update: Threw it away today.

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - Dream Matte Pressed Powder
yelloworange 8/15/2007 9:54:00 PM
This powder is just as good as high end brand powders. I was so surprised at the quality. It makes your skin look so refined with a natural skin glow. It controls oil fairly well, but I don't think you can truly stop oil from coming out of your pores. You can just alter the way it looks. Still need to blot. Just not as much. The color was perfect and it has a translucent quality that I think will help it blend into skin tone variations.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - BioInfusion Hydrating Conditioning Balm
yelloworange 8/14/2007 4:40:00 PM
This is a knock-off of Biolage Hydrating Balm in the big tub that I purchased at Walgreens. For me this was very hydrating. Just the right mix of Moisture+silicone. I use it about 3 times a week and it makes my medium length highlighted hair soft and shiny. I was surprised. I initially purchased a small trial size so I was able to test it out before buying the big container. I would have preferred a tube...but what can you do. I like it so much better than Biolage. Better+cheaper does it for me everytime!

Blush -Everyday Minerals - Apple
yelloworange 7/21/2007 1:24:00 AM
Apple is a deep powdery pink. I think the color is very pretty....but every time I use it Iooks too makeupy for me. I'm not shy about color either. I think this would work well on someone with medium toned or cool toned coloring. But I'm fair yellow and it just looks a tad clownish. I think the powdery aspect of it has a little to do with it too. I'm used to Nars blushes or PX pressed leaves that meld with your skin. To be fair I have tried EM mineral foundation and even with my oily skin found it too powdery looking.

Blush -Prescriptives - Pressed Powder Leaves [DISCONTINUED]
yelloworange 7/20/2007 5:02:00 PM
Royal Radiance. HG. Sort of a light peachy bronze with violet specks for color balance. Love this stuff. This one I reach for every day. I'm fair and yellowy and this adds a wonderful warmth to my complexion. I use it all over with a skunk brush daily and add a little extra to my cheeks for a blush effect. It gives me a very understated and subtle glow. A lot of times I dust all over then add a pop of another blush on my cheeks. So far it has lasted me about 3 months and I just hit the pan. Worth the money. Prescriptives should get more and better reviews!

Mascara -Prescriptives - Beyond Long Maximum Length Mascara
yelloworange 1/24/2006 11:41:00 PM
This mascara may not clump but it is not worth the price. It is a huge disappointment and all it does for me is send me out looking for another mascara. A little length and no volume at all. Leaves flakes in eyes after removing. Update: PX False eyelashes mascara is fantastic. Traded it and am very happy.

Brows -Paula's Choice - Ultra-Thin Eye & Brow Pencil
yelloworange 1/23/2006 4:12:00 PM
This brow pencil makes a great eyeliner. I'm in my early 40's and am finding that my old makeup routine seems like too much. So I have been looking for products that give me subtle definition. I have green eyes, medium blonde hair, dark blonde brows and fair skin. I use the taupe on my brows as well as my eyes. Very silky, no dragging and I love the fine point! I'm planning on purchasing more and maybe, a darker one as well. HG. Update: Continue to buy this in taupe for brows. I buy two at a time because of mail-order. The point is so fine but unlike Macs Eye Brows fine point brow pencil it doesn't crumble or break off. Plus the taupe color is a little warm but perfectly neutral. The best brow product and color I have found. Update: Well the review is useless now because PC discontinued this product. I thought PC would be different than the big cosmetic companies who routinely discontinue products at the dismay of loyal users because of lack of sales. It's always about the mighty dollar first and not the customer.

Liquid -Clinique - Superfit Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
yelloworange 1/11/2006 1:59:00 AM
Would be my ultimate HG if I could get a shade that matched my skin. I have used the lightest warm color shell and it is a tad too dark and slightly orangey. One thing I really like about it is that it fills in my larger pores around my nose, no need for a primer. Besides, primers always give me rashes. I have fanatsies that Clinique will add more colors or at least reformulate them. Its a fantastic formulation if the colors work for you. Great for oily skin for a natural but covered look. Have tried them all (Chanel, PX, LM etc..) and its the best except for the colors.
