Mascara -Flirt - Big Flirt Thickening Mascara
xxxPikadoodlexxx 5/25/2012 1:28:00 AM
This product was just okay. I bought it on an impulse alog with the makeup remover and I didn't expect much. The packaging was cute but the wand pretty old school. Overall it really reminded me of Maybelline Great Lash. Thick but not too clumpy ( definitely not smooth or glossy!) and it did make my lashes appear thicker but they lacked definition. This formula adds absolutely no length. When dried my lashes felt rubbery but at least it didn't feel dry. It lasted pretty well too. A little flaking but no smudging. I'll keep it as a back up but I couldn't see using this every day

Hair Color -Revlon - Colorsilk
xxxPikadoodlexxx 8/15/2011 1:07:00 PM
I have been dying my own hair since I was 13 years old and I've tried every dye out there but I always go back to colorsilk. When I was younger I chose it because it was affordable. Now that I'm older it's because it's the only dye I've found that covers my gray without fading. The price and availability is just an added bonus. For being 29 I have lots of gray hair which stands out against my dark brown hair. Most dyes turn it red or fade after a couple of washes but Colorsilk never fades on me. It also doesn't dry out my hair like some dyes. I only have to touch up my roots every few weeks. The only thing I would change about this product is the cheap gloves since I have large hands so they never fit. I always keep a pair of good quality reusable salon gloves on hand.

Lipstick -Cover Girl - Lip Perfection - Spellbound
xxxPikadoodlexxx 3/18/2011 2:37:00 AM
I love this lipstick. I've been looking for bright/hot pinks similar to R&R's Loudmouth and this is a pretty good dup. I've gotten so many compliments on this lipstick. It goes on smooth and even, and lasts for hours which was impressive. The packaging is very nice for a ds lipstick. It doesn't look cheap. I'm not crazy about the smell. It's a little waxy smelling compared to some of my HE lipsticks but it's not strong so I can deal. It also doesn't dry out my lips which is a huge plus since most lipsticks do. You can't beat it for the price- best hot pink ds lipstick Ive found so far.

Foundations -Unlisted Brand - Lucy Minerals Foundation

O.K. I normally do not write a review after using a product just once unless it's absolutely incredible or absolutely horrible. I'm sad to say this product, for me, was the latter. I purchased 4 samples. 3 of foundation (Regular Fair, Light, and the OCC Light (I think this was the oil control version) and one of the "Snow White". I used OCC light on one side of my face and regular formula Fair on the other. I started out with an extremely light application and built up to the coverage I wanted. I give this product 1 lippie for being great at concealing redness with little product but otherwise it looked horrible. Both sides looked chalky even though I have good skin. I left it on for a few hours to see how it wore. I noticed almost immediately it settled around my pores and begin to slide off the tip of my nose. It made my pores look obvious and huge. Granted, they are large around my cheeks but they usually don't look that bad. Also, the chalky look never went away. The longer I wore it the more dry my skin looked. The worst part was washing it off. I use MD Forte II which is a glycolic cleanser which I know can burn but I have been using this product for over a year now with very little stinging. Tonight I put it on and it my skin started to sting and burn immediately. Putting the skin cream on was pure torture. I also noticed after washing it off I now have 3 zits forming. One on the center of my cheek, one on my forehead and one above my lip which is very unusual. The only place I ever break out is along my jaw and even that's rare. The only explanation is this foundation. The zits weren't there before I put it on. Sigh. I'm just glad it came in "try it" sizes and I didn't waste my $ on full sizes.

Mascara -Clinique - High Impact Mascara
xxxPikadoodlexxx 3/3/2011 12:21:00 AM
I really like this mascara. I didn't expect to. Knowing this was not waterproof I was sure this would smudge around my deep set eyes but it doesn't! It doesn't clump my lashes together, and make them look full, long, and natural. It's great stuff. I dont have problems washing it off and it doesn't dry out my lashes. My lashes are in the best shape they've been in a long long time. My only complaint is it's somewhat "wet".. so I always have to go back and clean up a lil around my eyes after applying if Im not really careful. I also like that the brush is big but not too big like some of the newer volumizing mascaras on the market. Definitely will repurchase.

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - InStyler-Tre Milano brand

Amazing amazing styling tool. This makes my hair look red carpet good- yes, that damn good. It's smooth, shiny, bouncy, and perfect. It straightens, curls and volumizes all at once- exactly what I need for my unruly frizzy, wavy, layered hair. It does make an obnoxious sound, it's ackward to use at first, and yes... if youre not careful you WILL burn yourself but I wouldnt trade this thing for anything in the world! I only deducted 1 lippie cause I wish it would heat up faster and the sound is a lil annoying but still.... totally worth it.

Styling Products -Got 2 Be - Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion
xxxPikadoodlexxx 3/1/2011 11:03:00 PM
Words cannot express how much I LOVE this product. It is AWESOME. I've tried a lot of defrizzers, smoothing lotions, gels, etc... none of them can hold a candle to this product. I have thick, long, frizzy, unruly hair. It has been permed curly, permed straight, dyed, bleached, and suffered the wrath of my flat iron every day and it shows. I use two pumps in my hair, let it air dry, then style and it's amazing. My hair is softer, shinier, silkier, smoother, and BOUNCIER than it has been in years. It doesn't dull my hair at all or weigh it down like everything else does. Unlike some reviewers I love the smell. I think it's a bargain for the price since it blows most HE products I've tried outta the water. I just hope they never discontinue this. As long as they keep making it I'll keep buying it.

Eye Shadow -Rock & Republic - Veil
xxxPikadoodlexxx 3/1/2011 12:40:00 AM
Thank God for this shadow. For almost 2 years I have been searching for a dupe of Lorac's "Beige" shadow (discontinued) in color and quality and finally I think I have found it. It's a neutral ivory color... "bone" color I guess you'd say with a matte finish- perfect for under brow highlighting on my NW15 skin when I'm doing a natural eye look. Some people have said this is chalky but I didn't find it chalky at all. It went on light and smooth and blended easily for me but I could see it looking chalky on darker skin tones as it is very light and matte. I love the packaging and it's a fairly large shadow. I'd definitely buy it again.

Lip Gloss -Rock & Republic - Luxe Lip Gloss in Loudmouth
xxxPikadoodlexxx 3/1/2011 12:33:00 AM
I desperately need to find a dupe for this color, it's PERFECTION. A beautiful bright hot pink. Not too dark, not too bright and still very pigmented. It looks incredible against my fair skin and dark hair. I'd dare say it's the best thing I have EVER seen on me. Period. Like all R&R glosses the quality is exceptional. It's texture is smooth, light, and not sticky. They remind me of Mac without the heavy stickiness. It has a lovely sweet vanilla flavor that isn't over the top. I wouldn't blink an eye if I had to pay full price for this because it's worth the extra few bucks.

Lip Gloss -Rock & Republic - Preppy Punk
xxxPikadoodlexxx 3/1/2011 12:28:00 AM
LOVE this gloss. It's a very sheer gloss with a slight pink/lilac shimmer. It doesn't add much color but I love the glow it gives. I deducted 1 lippie because my only complaint is I wish it had just a touch more color. It goes on smooth and doesn't dry out my lips or cake up. It feels light and smooth- not sticky. The sweet vanilla taste is nice too.

Blush -TheBalm - Hot Mama
xxxPikadoodlexxx 3/1/2011 12:05:00 AM
I typically shy away from shimmery blushes since they make my pores stand out but this is one shimmer blush I love. In fact it's probably my most used blush. Actually I'd say it "glows" more than it "shimmers". It's a pinky apricot color with gold shimmer. It blends easily and has nice pigmentation- not too much, not too little. It really brightens a dull face up. The packaging is ok. I'd prefer a sturdy plastic case like Nars, but this cardboard packaging can really take a beating. I love the fact that it closes magnetically- I never had to worry about the lid coming off in my MU bag and getting product everywhere which has happened way too many times to me. I'd recommend it to anyone with light to medium skin tones.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational Lipcolor in Plum-Tastic
xxxPikadoodlexxx 2/28/2011 11:57:00 PM
Meh. I loved the color of this lipstick on the shelf but applied it looked really tacky against my fair skin and dark hair. Too much shimmer for me. It went on smooth and has decent lasting power but it dries my lips out horribly. I prefer moisture rich lipsticks. The other three reviewers had darker skin than me (NW15) so maybe it's just me but I won't be repurchasing this.

Liquid -L'Oreal - Visible Lift Serum Absolute Advanced Age-Reversing Makeup
xxxPikadoodlexxx 2/28/2011 11:47:00 PM
For a drug store foundation this is a pretty good foundation. It's medium coverage, blends easily and dries nicely without any shine. I found it applies best with fingers and blended on quickly like a TM. Sponges and brushes make it looks streaky, splotchy and uneven. I haven't had any breakouts with it and it lasts fairly well (only need touch ups with powder a couple times day). It doesn't do much to mask my large pores though so I top it with a loose powder which helps. My only complaint is it does make dry skin appear very very flakey so I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with dry skin or anyone prone to acne. The packaging is great since it has a pump and the cap fits snuggly. One of the best DS foundations I've tried.

Cleansers -MD Forte - Facial Cleanser I
xxxPikadoodlexxx 2/28/2011 1:02:00 AM
This was my first glycolic acid cleanser and I don't see any need to try anything else. I have since moved on to MD Forte II but I am glad I started at Step I. Two things you will notice when you first use this product is that it doesn't have the best smell, and it stings but don't let that stop you. With continued use the stinging will go away, and the smell more tolerable. It's well worth it. No other cleanser has done what this has done for my skin. My skin is smoother, I have less redness now, less breakouts and less dry flakey skin. This of course is in combination with the Step I facial cream. You may experience an adjustment period. Two weeks after starting Step I i experienced a bad breakout, but since then I have had an overall reduction in blemishes. Since I'm only 28 I can't really say yet whether it will help you look any younger, but it will make your skin healthier.

Powder -L'Oreal - Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral powder
xxxPikadoodlexxx 2/22/2011 3:13:00 PM
I am really still on the fence with this product. I'm no newbie to mineral foundations and my biggest problem is finding an affordable product in a color light enough to match my NW15 skin that doesn't yellow when applied over my moisturizer. I purchased this product (the loose and pressed version) in Soft Ivory which is very pale. It's a great color match and I haven't noticed any yellowing which is a major plus. Coverage wise it offers the best coverage I've found in a mineral foundation yet. It's very similar to BE Bisque concealer actually. My only real concern is dryness. Most mineral foundations have made my skin oily whereas this one seems to have a drying effect on my skin so I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with dry, flakey skin or to anyone with acne as it tends to make my occassional pimple more oxvious. The packaging for the loose powder needs some definite improvements. I'd prefer a more shallow cap so I can tap the powder into it. The brush could be done away with completely IMO since it's not up to my standards (although still much softer than brushes I've received with similar DS products and could be used with minimal irritation if I had to) or at the very least detachable. The brush as it is is too short to reach into the cap and swirl the product around so it definitely needs to be longer. Luckily I have my own brushes which can reach the inside of the lid but this might pose a problem for women who don't. I'd probably switch the product to a more convenient container as soon as I have an empty available.
