Fragrances -Ralph Lauren - Lauren Style

The perfect, no-fail floral. It's a safe scent to buy someone as a gift... kind of like Gucci Envy Me. I can't picture anyone DISliking this scent, although I CAN picture people thinking it is 'blah'. I, for one, love the fresh and preppy floral scent. Don't get me wrong. It does smell a bit generic, but it's... comforting. If you like RL Romance, you'll like this too. And if you think RL Romance is too strong... well, you'll probably still like this one. My only gripe? It has the staying power of a puppy in potty training. If it lasted longer, I'd be in Heaven with this stuff.

Eye Shadow -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Luminous Shadow -- After Midnight
wally7062 5/17/2007 12:18:00 AM
Forget my MAC pigments... these babies are my new HG eyeshadows. And yes, I am being serious. Absolutely PERFECT colors... and I mean perfect... and easy application. Good staying power over UDPP, but they do fade a little without a primer underneath. C'est la vie. After Midnight (the deep blue color) looks stunning with Money Baby (the green color). It was the look I was TRYING to get with the NARS Rated R duo. My only complaint? Each bottle will probably only last me about 5 applications. Don't knock this until you try it!

Lotions/ Creams -Suds and Light - Shea Deluxe Body Lotion - Cake Batter
wally7062 4/20/2007 6:36:00 PM
This was my first Suds and Light purchase. The customer service was amazing and I received my item within 4 business days of paying. Very fast! The consistency of the lotion is amazing, and although the bottle is pretty small, it's worth the price. The only thing I don't really like is the scent. I'm in LOVE with all things cake batter, so I was really excited to try Suds and Light's version of the scent. It smells "okay" in the bottle. If someone said "Here, smell this!" and I had to guess what scent it was, I definitely wouldn't have guessed cake batter, though. Realistically, it smells more like plastic-y popcorn. (Yes, popcorn.) When it's on my body, it smells even LESS like cake batter. And in fact, it smells EXACTLY like Bath & Body Works scent called "Rice Flower and Shea"... which I had, and swapped because the smell was musky and nauseating. Overall, this Cake Batter lotion was meh. Wouldn't purchase this scent again, because it smells nothing like cake batter, but the lotion itself is great, so don't pass up on this brand completely.

Eye Shadow -Flirt - Dreamy Eyes Eyeshadow in Golden Lady

My HG eyeshadow. Identical to MAC's Woodwinked, but better texture and better lasting power. Plus, you get a lot more, and for a cheaper price. What's not to love?!

Masks -Fresh - Umbrian Clay Treatment Bar
wally7062 4/12/2007 10:33:00 PM
A true HG! If you have oily/combo skin with annoyingly large pores and pesky acne in some spots that just WON'T GO AWAY, read on, missy. I received this, in bar form, in a swap. I refused to buy it before trying, and would only swap for it, considering the astronomical $38 price tag. Looking back, it would have been worth EVERY PENNY, had I decided to buy it. Rumor has it, this thing lasts for at least a year, and probably closer to TWO years. Do the math, and this thing costs only five cents per use. The performance of this product (and it's life expectancy) totally relies on HOW you use this. This is just a treatment bar, so don't use this instead of a face wash. Use it AFTER. First, wash your face (I use Purity Made Simple by Philosophy... love it!) and rinse with warm water. This opens up your pores to let the mud from this clay bar get in there and suck out all the gunk. Next, hold the dry bar in your hand and rinse ONE END of it under running water to make it wet. Wetting one end eliminates cracking and keeps it from getting all over your hands (this thing can be messy... picture playing with wet clay in art class as a kid). Rub the wet end of the bar all over your face, as if it were a stick of deodorant. When you're done applying, stand the bar vertically on it's DRY end, wet end UP, to let the wet end dry. This is the most sanitary method of storing it without wasting any product (or so I've found). Let the mud dry on your face and keep it on for at least 2 minutes. Rinse off with warm water, and you're done. My pores were smaller for days after just one use, and within two days, my annoying chin acne was totally gone!

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Zeno

This product is SO not worth the money, if you take the time to do the research. Apparently, the active aspect of the product is the heat. It says that the heated plate warms up the zit, which softens the skin to open up pores, allowing the skin to breathe and self-eliminate any impurities. Think about it... a hot washcloth does the same thing. WITHOUT the possible scarring and burns that some MUAers mentioned below. I tried out my theory, and guess what... a hot washcloth, used RIGHT when you detect the zit, does the exact same thing as this $250 tool. Save your money!!!

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
wally7062 3/8/2007 4:40:00 AM
Oh my gosh, this is a GODSEND for oily or combo skin! I am 24 and have been using ProActiv for a couple years now to help get rid of some little bumpy acne on my forehead and larger 'pop-ups' of acne on my chin and lower cheeks. ProActiv was working okay, but I felt like it took a couple weeks to start working and then after awhile, my face got used to it and stopped 'obeying'! I received Purity Made Simple in a swap and it was love at first use. The smell is fresh, clean and DIVINE (unlike chemically ProActiv, yuck!). It doesn't sud, but you can still tell it's working. It removes all makeup, including eye makeup, and doesn't leave your skin feeling tight after washing. In fact, my skin has never felt softer or smoother right after a wash. I can honestly say that this stuff CLEARS ACNE BETTER THAN PROACTIV! After less than a week of use, my acne was gone and my pores appeared smaller... probably because this does a great job of clearing the debris from pores. To all you oily-skinned ladies using ProActiv to keep your face clear, switch to Purity! It's the best thing you'll ever do for your skin.

Mascara -Bourjois - Pump Up The Volume
wally7062 2/18/2007 2:13:00 AM
I was actually surprised to see all the sub-par reviews on here, because I'm usually the picky one who writes the sub-par reviews! Haha. I will confess that I can't help but like this mascara. I received it in a swap and was really impressed by the volume it added to my lashes. I have really long lashes that are thin and blonde, so you can imagine how much I yearn for volumizing mascaras! In addition to volume, this mascara also added some length that I didn't really need, but didn't mind. I digress. This mascara is actually one of the best ones I've tried. I was SO disappointed with the Christian Dior mascaras, as they didn't live up to their hype at ALL and did no more than a cheap drugstore mascara. Benefit Bad Gal Lash smudges more than it's worth and does NOTHING for my lashes' volume. Bourjois, however, got it right. The volume is comparable to that of Kiss Me mascara, and actually looks like it covers your lashes in little tubes. Maybe it's the spiral brush. I've found that if you start the brush at the base of your lashes and wiggle it a little, it separates your lashes something fierce, and looks really great. No clumping for me after wiggling the brush a little. I would certainly repurchase, as this is the first high-end mascara that has actually given the volume it promises. EDIT: I forgot to mention that this mascara DOES have a semi-nauseating 'flowery' smell (that lasts all day, trust me)... kind of like that green ketchup they tried to come out with once... it just doesn't work. But if you can ignore it, it's not too bad.

I wanted to love this, since I love all things Juicy. But frankly... this stuff smells like liquid hooker.

Absolutely GROSS. Thicker than molasses, it came out in CHUNKS on the wand. I took mine back, convinced that I just got a dud, but the salesperson informed me that hers was chunky like that too. Ugh! :(

Clothes -Juicy Couture - All Products
wally7062 12/29/2006 11:48:00 PM
I don't understand why so many of these reviews are negative... I love Juicy and their quality FAR surpasses other clothing and purses of the same price. To say "Juicy is fug" or whatever the comments are (lol) doesn't really help people who are reading these reviews in order to buy! Everyone knows what Juicy looks like, so I don't think those comments are too helpful. In an attempt to give helpful advice to those MUAers considering purchasing Juicy Couture, I give it two thumbs up. I've had a Daydreamer purse for almost two years now and it's held up PERFECTLY. I put that thing through HECK, so the fact that there are no frays, smudges, or anything else is quite impressive! My $400 Coach purse hasn't held up NEARLY as well as my $200 Juicy bag. Go figure! And the clothes are excellent quality as well. Although my black velour zip-up hoodie has arms that are a little too short for me, the quality of the thing is absolutely amazing. Triple seams wherever there is stitching, no fraying, no shrinking in the wash, and the color hasn't faded one bit in twenty washes. Juicy is expensive, but you CERTAINLY get what you pay for. I would definitely buy again... and I'm 24. ;)

Fragrances -Ralph Lauren - Romance
wally7062 12/22/2006 3:53:00 AM
THE classic floral scent. It's right up there in my favorites with Christian Dior J'Adore Dior and Gucci Envy Me. Definitely THE safest fragrance to give as a holiday gift, etc. Lasting power is good, but don't spray more than two quick sprays, or you'll smell like you bathed in it. On a positive note, that means the bottle will last you quite awhile! My roommate dropped mine on our bathroom floor two years ago and, no joke, it still vaguely smells like Romance in there. Oh well, at least the smell is a good one!

Fragrances -Chanel - No.5
wally7062 12/22/2006 3:49:00 AM
Blegh. I have never been in a funeral home, but if I had, I can imagine it would have smelled like THIS. No joke. I agree with the below posters who wanted to love it because, after all, it's Chanel No. 5! How completely classy would it be to wear it? But alas, it smells like dead people. Sorry! Not for me. Maybe in fifty years.

Self Tanners -Neutrogena - Neutrogena Self Tanning Foam
wally7062 12/22/2006 3:39:00 AM
Horrible product. Even 8 hours after drying, it was rubbing THROUGH my white shirt and showing up as streaky stains on the fabric! My friend used it, went to a bar, and within minutes, it was dripping down the inside sides of her tank top, as if she had yellowish armpit sweat. I've used so many STs and for some reason, this one is the WORST!

Lipstick -MAC - Satin Lipstick - MAC Red
wally7062 9/7/2006 3:17:00 AM
Trusting MAC as the authority of everything makeup, I believed that "MAC Red" would be the perfect, bluish, fire engine red. Unfortunately, when I put it on my lips (I have somewhat pale skin, blue eyes, and blonde hair), it turned a reddish fuschia. Instead of that 40's pin-up girl/Betty Boop red, I got something more along the lines of... Debbie Gibson magenta. Plus, it bleeds! I've had it on for less than ten minutes and the area below my lower lip looks like I just got off the ski mountain, it's so chapped looking. My only hope is to layer this over a brown-based liner or to swap it altogether. ::sigh::
