Styling Products -John Frieda - Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon Finishing Creme
vmathew 2/14/2007 1:56:00 PM
I keep coming back to this product from the more expensive brands. I have layered, thick wavy hair and this helps to calm the dry ends after blow drying. A little goes a long way. If I follow-up with the finishing spray it sets the style. I don't think this is a Holy Grail, but it does the trick for a good price.
I have used this on wet and dry hair. It is more of a finishing product for me, versus a gel to style from scratch. I agree with the others that it will shape just about anything. I have this up for swap.
Conditioner -Nature's Gate - Chamomile Repleneshing Conditioner

This is a basic all purpose conditioner. In the winter I need a bit more conditioning so I rotate with other products.
Shampoo -Nature's Gate - Chamomile Replenishing Shampoo
vmathew 2/7/2007 4:52:00 PM
This is a great gentle shampoo which works and is reasonably priced. I rotate it with other products but is my standard all purpose shampoo.
This is an effective cleanser, but too drying for me in the winter. I have switched to the "yellow" version. I like the fact that this is an all natural product, the fragrance is minimal, and it helps tone down the blemishes.
Moisturizers -Desert Essence - Jojoba Oil - 100% pure
vmathew 2/7/2007 4:45:00 PM
This is a very light weight and gentle but effective oil which is great especially in the brutal winter months. I use it before showering on my legs so they dont' dry out in the shower, and on my scalp occasionally at night so that when I shampoo in the morning the dryness has loosened.
Styling Products -Paul Mitchell - Extra Body Daily Boost
vmathew 12/30/2006 10:29:00 AM
What is the purpose of this product? Yes, it lifts the roots, but it makes my hair feel weighted down, and it doesn't really style anything. Will be taking this back at my next appointment.
I wanted to like this also, but it does nothing for me. The Nude is actually more flattering. It's up for swap...
Treatments -Paula's Choice - Extra Strength Blemish Fighting Solution
vmathew 12/4/2006 3:38:00 PM
My experience with previous benzoyl peroxide products was not good, so I hesitated to go ahead w/this one. But based on recommendations below, I went ahead and purchased a sample. My cystic acne has almost cleared up. I need to make sure I put the smallest amount possible just over the spot, or my face gets red and irriated. I will definitely purchase the full size.
Styling Products -Matrix - Curl Life Body Shaping Foam
vmathew 11/9/2006 8:14:00 PM
This product was recommended to me by my hair stylist. This body shaping foam, aka mousse, rocks! It is a combination of a foam, but it seems like there is a gel in it too as it has great holding power and isn't crunchy. I have medium thick, curly hair and this is the first foam that I can use without my hair fluffing out. Would definitely repurchase.
Skincare - Face -Desert Essence - Tea Tree Oil Facial Cleansing Pads
vmathew 8/19/2006 9:32:00 PM
I agree w/everyone else's comments. The one thing I noticed on the jar is that it said to wash this off with cool water. So I've been doing that and it gets rid of that awful smell. I will say it works, and sometimes I just concentrate it over breakouts versus using like a Stridex (wiping over face). (Edit) I also tried the Aloe Facial Cleansing Pads, but the fragrance is REALLY perfumy, and don't work as well IMHO.
I totally agree with the others about the miraculous effects of this product! Yes, my face feels like it's going to burn off for a few minutes, but the results are well worth it.
Cleansers -Desert Essence - Thoroughly Clean Face Wash with Sunflower and Kelp
vmathew 7/10/2006 3:09:00 PM
I switched to this after using Paula's Choice Products. Note that there are 3 different types of Thoroughly Clean Facewash products by Desert Essence. The one I'm reviewing is yellow. There is some tea tree oil in here, but no strong fragrance to go with it. This cleanses without drying and rinses clean. It's summer now, so I will see what happens going into fall.
Cleansers -Paula's Choice - One Step Face Cleanser-Normal to Dry Skin
vmathew 7/10/2006 3:07:00 PM
I used this as my standard cleanser in the winter months as it was very gentle. However I didn't feel like it really came off without a toner. I switched to Oil of Olay cleanser and that works better in the winter months without drying out my skin (which PC did at times).
This was my standard cleansing brand in the warmer months. However, my skin kept feeling clogged and once I stopped using this it cleared up. I read on another post or on the boards that one of the ingredients was actually clog-promoting (if that's a term!). Mine's up for swap now.
