Blush -Josie Maran Cosmetics - Color Stick -Petal Pink

At first I wasn't all that impressed with this product, but after using it a few days I have grown to love it. First of all this is a multiple purpose product. It can be used on your cheeks and your lips. I am reviewing this as a blush. The color petal pink is a perfect shade of peachy-pink with sheen. The application is no fuss. It comes is a chubby metal retractable tube, so you can apply the color directly from the tube, or dab the product with your fingers then apply the product with your fingers. The consistency is like a balm. It does feel a little heavy, probably due to the argan oil, so if your have blemish prone skin, this may clog your pores. I have sensitive/blemish prone skin and luckily have not had any problems with clogged pores. After blending it in the color subtle on my tan olive toned skin, but the color appears to be glowing from within. I noticed that the staying power is better than I assumed it would be. Today, even in 105 degree heat the blush was still on after several hours. It smells a little like tea tree oil, which I am not fond of, but the scent doesn't last long. I like the fact that it is also suppose to be beneficial for your skin so you feel like you are pampering your skin while wearing makeup. I compared this to my Hourglass Aura cheek stain in Petal. I actually like the color of this better and it's not as glittery as the Aura cheek stain and it's more than $20 cheaper and lasts longer! Also got this in Rosey, which is more of a brown/pink tone, which was nice, but I prefer this color over it. I would recommend to anyone who likes natural looking makeup that gives you a healthy glow.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Smog

Got this in the "Naked" palette. This is a lovely bronzy taupe shade with subtle shimmer. My favorite for adding depth and dimension, and it works well with my Stila Oasis eyeshadow. Good staying power. Will probably be purchasing again as an individual shade.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks in Pale Pink

Love this color. Flatters my olive complexion. I like using this during the cooler months when I am not as tan. It lasts long, especially if layering with a powder blush.

Love this. I have a tan/olive complexion and this works well for the summer. It gives me a very nice coral healthy glow. The color is very vivid and lasts. I wouldn't use this on my lips though.

Misc Beauty Tools -Sephora - Precision Pore Cleansing Pad
typicalgirls 6/29/2011 11:15:00 PM
Possibly better than my Clairsonic Mia and $144 cheaper. Why? Well this pad exfoliates without being too abrasive. Not that my Mia is horrible or anything, but if your looking for an effective cleansing brush but you're not willing to spend the money this is a great alternative.

Treatments -Ren - Glycolactic Skin Renewal Peel Mask
typicalgirls 6/29/2011 12:51:00 AM
I love all the REN products I've tried. This product is a little pricey at $55, but I think it's worth it. Instead of purchasing a bunch of mediocre products that don't work that well, you can drop a little more money for this product, which works really really well. The great thing about this is that it is very gentle. Surprisingly it does not burn or sting my very sensitive skin. It smells fruity and has a sticky texture. You leave it on for 10 minutes and remove it with a damp washcloth. I actually remove it with Sephora's pore precision pad. After rinsing the residual off my skin definitely looks moisturized and glow-y.

Lips -Hourglass - Aura Sheer Lip Stain in Flush
typicalgirls 6/9/2011 1:51:00 AM
I bought this color along with petal. If I had to choose one, because these are crazy expensive, I'd probably buy Petal over this one. Don't get me wrong, Flush is a beautiful color, but I found this to be very similar to Benefit's Benetint. Kind of a very red/berry tone. Benetint is almost half the price of this. So someone might not see why it's necessary to spend $45 on a cheek stain. However, the Aura cheek is stain very easy to blend and seems to last longer. I think I would get more use out of this tint during the winter.

Blush -Hourglass - Aura Sheer Cheek Stain in Petal
typicalgirls 6/9/2011 1:42:00 AM
I think this is comparable to Nars Orgasm blush, but in a liquid/stain form. It's a peachy/coral tone with golden shimmer. It's very beautiful and sheer, I am olive/tan and this gives me a healthy glow. I love the fact that this stain is easy to blend when you apply it, it does not dry so fast that you end up with a spot of stain on your cheek. The staying power is great. I put this on my cheeks ran in the hot sun, sweated, and it didn't fade. The shimmer is pretty intense, maybe more subtle than the shimmer in the Orgasm blush, I might just reserve this shade for going out. The shimmer does give you an amazing glow though. It'd be nice if Hourglass made this shade without the shimmer for day time use. I like the packaging. It's compact and you don't need a brush to apply it so it's very portable. The thing I don't like about it is the price. It is soo expensive at $45. I hope it lasts a long time for the price. This could end up replacing my Nars Orgasm because I prefer cheek stains to powdered blush. UPDATE: 6/30/11: I had to change my rating. As much as I thought I loved this the staying power is pretty bad, the color seems to fade very fast, leaving nothing but the shimmer/sparkle behind. Too pricy for something with such poor staying power.

Misc Beauty Tools -NARS - eyelash curler

Got suckered into buying this because it was black. Not really worth the price. I had better results with the Shu Uemura eyelash curler, but this one it's equivalent to a drugstore curler.

Cleansers -Ren - ClearCalm Anti-Blemish Clay Cleanser
typicalgirls 5/9/2011 2:17:00 PM
I have extremely sensitive skin that reacts to pretty much everything except for Cetaphil's gentle cleanser. In addition to eczema, I have blemish-prone skin. I was in search of an anti-acne cleanser that would help deep cleanse my face without irritating it or over drying it while helping reduce blemishes. I came across this cleanser while browsing Sephora's website. After reading the reviews I had to try it. The price is a little more than what I'm usually willing to pay for when it comes to a skin cleanser. $32 for 5oz is a lot. However, I am glad I broke down and purchased this because this clay-cleanser has really helped with keeping my acne at bay. I also have been experiencing less mid day oiliness. This being an anti-acne cleanser, you'd assume it would be drying and you'd need a moisturizer to follow. But that isn't the case. In fact, ever since using this I've felt that my skin has felt more "normal" than it has in the past. I can actually skip the moisturizer and my skin doesn't feel tight or dry and as I mentioned before I don't have the mid day oiliness. Another great thing about this is that the brand focuses on being all natural. If you're having a problem with acne, but have difficulty using anti-acne skincare because of irritation give this a try!!

Lip Gloss -Aveda - Lip glaze - Morning Rose
typicalgirls 5/4/2011 6:56:00 PM
I got this as a gift. Probably something I would have never come across if I didn't. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this stuff. First off, it's not a tacky-gooey consistency like a typical gloss. This gives your lips a very subtle and natural sheen. The color is gorgeous. It's a mauvey-berry tone which suits my tan/olive complexion. I've been searching for the perfect natural pink-tone lip product that gives the right amount of natural color that would brightening my face. In addition to being a beautiful color, it's not drying at all. I hope they never discontinue this.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Aztec - Indian Healing Clay
typicalgirls 4/20/2011 11:37:00 PM
Whenever my skin breaksout really bad I use this as a mask mixed with enough apple cider vinegar to make it into a paste. I leave it on for a few minutes and even though it doesn't get rid of my deep pimples, it does calm the rest of the surrounding skin around them. It gets rid of excess oil and shrinks pores. I have very sensitive skin and using this once in a while doesn't irritate my skin at all, but I'm sure if I used it more frequently it'd irritate it. It's so inexpensive, you really can't lose trying it out. I would highly recommend using this mixed with apple cider vinegar.

Eye Primer -NARS - Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
typicalgirls 2/9/2011 3:04:00 PM
I rarely use eyeshadow, and if I do I wear very subtle shades. Usually by 2nd hour of wearing eyemakeup, you can't tell I even applied it. Since buying this my eye makeup has looked fresh even at the end of my usual 12 hour shift. I also use black eyeshadow to line my eyes and when I wear this underneath it last forever and I don't have smudges on my bottom lids.

Eye Shadow -NARS - Nepal
typicalgirls 2/9/2011 2:59:00 PM
Another NARS favorite. This is an absolutely gorgeous everyday color. It goes on as more of a sheen than a shimmer-giving a nice healthy glow. It kind of a rosy-champange-taupe shade. I have a naturally "tan" looking skin with olive undertones and this does not give me the appearance of red irritated skin as others mentioned. I love this shade so much!

Lip Gloss -NARS - Chihuahua

Pretty pink color and the consistency is not tacky or sticky. I always loved nude pink glosses, but they usually make me look ghastly since my lips are pretty pigmented. THIS COLOR IS PERFECT. Hope this never gets discontinued.
