Treatments (Eye) -La Prairie - Eye Luminescent Veil

Ok, my undereye circles must be much darker than everyone else's, because this product didn't do much of anything at all for me. I can see the shimmer, but rather than camouflaging my undereye circles, it seems to highlight the darkness and fine lines. I've tried it on it's own, under concealer, and over concealer, and this product just doesn't do anything for me at all. For anybody with serious circles, Bobbi Brown's corrector is definitely the way to go.

Moisturizers -Guerlain - Issima Hydramythic Fresh Moisturizing Stick
rated 2 of 5
tokyorose 6/10/2005 2:32:00 AM

This is a moisturizer in a solid form. While the packaging is beautiful--a slim metallic blue tube--the contents, unfortunately, don't match up to the exterior. I found the moisturizer to be too sticky for my combo skin, and so fragranced that it gave me a headache. This goes in the trash.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Foul Play
rated 3 of 5
tokyorose 6/10/2005 1:50:00 AM

I have very pigmented lips, and this gloss didn't do much for me. On me, it just went on like a standard pinky-brown gloss (in fact, I have a Rimmel gloss that is very similar in color). It lacks the dimension that I prefer in lip glosses, if that makes any sense. In general I'm a big fan of Nars makeup, but I wouldn't repurchase this product.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Untitled Paint
rated 4 of 5
tokyorose 6/10/2005 1:42:00 AM

I wish I had read these reviews before purchasing--I have fair, warm-toned skin and this color just does not work for me. It looks incredibly pink on my skin and turns all of my shadows a pinky color. I also don't like the tube packaging-- it keeps squirting out each time I open the tube. I much prefer the Laura Mercier eye basics to this. However, the texture is nice and it blends very smoothly.

Concealers -Cle de Peau - Concealer
rated 5 of 5
tokyorose 5/17/2005 8:33:00 PM

This is the best under-eye concealer I have ever used. I have fair skin but very dark circles, so concealer is an absolute must. I have tried literally dozens on the market, from La Prairie, Laura Mercier, MAC, Shisedo, Versace, etc. but this is the absolute best I have found in terms of coverage. I find that application makes a big difference: the SA in Japan, where I bought this, applied a gob of eye cream, far more than I would ordinarily apply, under the inner corners of my eyes and then dotted the concealer on and quickly blended it. I usually set it with a dusting of Laura Mercier's Secret Brightening Powder, and I almost look like I had a full night's sleep. I have repurchased and will continue to do so.

Concealers -Kesalan Patharan - Undertone Light Up
rated 4 of 5
tokyorose 5/17/2005 8:25:00 PM

This is a nice concealer product. I find that the best way to use it is to blend the two colors in the palm of my hand and then apply it. It does give me a perfect color match when I do so. However, I have extremely dark circles under my eyes, and I find that it doesn't conceal as well as my Cle de Peau concealer. On the positive side, the two separate tubes give a very large amount of product, making this a very cost effective item. Overall, I think this is a really nice concealer for women in their teens or twenties who don't have too much to cover up.

Lotions/ Creams -BeneFit Cosmetics - Bathina Body So Fine
rated 4 of 5
tokyorose 5/17/2005 8:15:00 PM

This is a skin cream/highlighter in a solid form, packaged in a flip-top metal box. I love the scent of this, and it gives my fair skin a sexy shimmery sheen. The packaging is just adorable and truly unique. I would definitely repurchase!

Sunscreen -Caudalie - SPF 12 Day Fluid
rated 2 of 5
tokyorose 5/11/2005 4:32:00 AM

I didn't care for this product. It feels too heavy on my combo-oily skin, and made me quite oily. In fact, it's heavy enough to use as a hand cream (which is how I'm finishing my tube). The fragrance is also far too strong for my taste.

Mascara -Shu Uemura - Mascara Basic [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
tokyorose 4/6/2005 6:38:00 AM

I've been using this for years, and it's definitely my favorite day time mascara. As other reviewers have pointed out, it doesn't flake or smudge (imperative for me as I wear contact lenses) and gives a beautifully defined, glossy look to my dark eyelashes. I have repurchased this countless times (in fact, I usually buy a few at a time!). Sometimes I alternate with drugstore mascaras just to save on cost, but I have never found any other product that works as well for me.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Kitten
rated 5 of 5
tokyorose 4/6/2005 6:32:00 AM

I use Stila Kitten mostly to highlight the inner corners of my eyes when doing an evening look. It gives an amazing soft gleam. A repurchase (if I ever run out!).

Blush -NARS - Deep Throat
rated 5 of 5
tokyorose 4/6/2005 6:28:00 AM

This is probably my favorite NARS blush (although I love most of them!). On my fair, yellow-toned skin this shows up as a very natural flush. I actually find this to be more subtle on me than Orgasm (which has more pink and is a better evening color for me).

Highlighters -Bobbi Brown - Rose Shimmerbrick Shimmer Brick Compact
rated 5 of 5
tokyorose 4/6/2005 6:21:00 AM

This is a beautiful product! For some reason I have never been tempted by the shimmerbricks in the past--I generally don't like shimmer on my skin. But I tried this one on in moment of idle curiosity and couldn't believe the amazing rosy shimmery glow it gave to my cheeks (my skin is somewhere between light and fair). It's great for night time, I find it a bit too much for day use. The only thing I don't like about this product is the packaging. Like the bronzer, I find it too large and too clunky.

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Eye Shadow in Vanilla
rated 5 of 5
tokyorose 4/6/2005 6:14:00 AM

I'm generally not a huge fan of eyeshadow--I prefer a natural look--so I love this product! On my fair skin, it imperceptibly brightens and polishes the eye area without screaming that I'm wearing makeup. The texture and quality of the product are also lovely. This is a makeup kit staple for me.

Lipstick -NARS - Tobago [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
tokyorose 3/24/2005 9:19:00 PM

This is one of my holy grail lip colors. I have very pigmented lips, fair skin and dark hair, and this gives me a pretty polished look. It goes on a little heavier than the sheer lipsticks and glosses I usually favor, making it perfect for when I want to look "made up." I usually top it with a pink gloss (Philosophy the Supernaturals in Mauve).

Hair -Kiehls - Hair Conditioner and Grooming Aid Formula 133
rated 5 of 5
tokyorose 3/23/2005 10:36:00 PM

This is my favorite leave-in conditioner. I have fine, thin, curly hair, and many leave-ins make my hair too greasy. This one provides the perfect amount of moisture, helps to tame frizz, and seems to protect my hair against the drying effects of other styling products and blow-drying.
