I have bought this liner in both Spiced Chocolate (an almost shimmery, deep bronze color) and Plum Drop (more of a maroon shade in my opinion). Both of these liners, as previously mentioned, are more sheer than most I have tried (Revlon Colorstay, Clinique Quickliner, etc.) BUT once applied, they can be "layered" to deepen their pigment and have been long lasting on my lids. What I really do like about these liners is that they apply so, so, so smoothly and don't tug or pull on my lids at all, which is a refreshing change from most liners. These are perfect daytime liners and I have been using them both often for a more subtle, muted look. Out of the two I have tried, I would definitely recommend the Spiced Chocolate over the Plum Drop because it is more pigmented and truly is a more unique bronze color that really makes my hazel eyes pop!
Accessories -Bath and Body Works - Wallflowers Wall Plug Home Fragrance
tnlfraz0820 6/3/2009 8:55:00 AM
I have shopped at BBW for years and have always passed these by, but recently decided to give one a chance since they were only $5 at the semi-annual sale. I bought one wallflower in the coconut lime verbena scent and plugged it in our (small) kitchen. At first, I couldn't smell anything at all unless I leaned in close to the actual wallflower, but within an hour or so, a light, but noticeable fragrance had made its way around the room. Now, three days later, each time I walk into my kitchen, there is just a light, fresh smell, barely noticeable, but pleasing enough that I am ready to go buy more of these. I am curious to see how well the wallflowers would work in larger spaces, such as my living room. I think everyone's experience with this product will vary, depending on the scent you purchase, the size of the room its plugged in to, etc. However, I like these so far and will rebuy for the sale price! (Probably not for the full price though!)
I was at Sephora on the lookout for a clean, fresh fragrance for summertime and happened upon this one. I was drawn to the clean, simplistic bottle (although it's so chunky!), but what I really fell in love with immediately was the smell itself. On me, it starts out as very clean, almost an aquatic scent, and I get a hint of cotton in the initial scent. After it dries down on me, I think it almost smells floral, but nothing fruity or powdery. I am glad this perfume comes in such a generous size, because I've been spraying it on constantly! I did take one lippie off since the lasting power is not quite what I'd like it to be, but overall, I'm in love! I have a feeling this one will be used quite often this summer!
This cream shadow was one of the worst I have tried. It creased horribly on my eyelids, even though I used only the tiniest dab possible. I had to apply several layers to see even the tiniest hint of shimmer, but each layer creased so....it wasn't really worth it! I tried this product with one of MK's new summer shadows on top, and the eyesicles did absolutely nothing to enhance the color or lasting power of the shadow. I'm glad I just tested this out at a MK party and did not actually purchase!
Lipstick -Clinique - Butter Shine Lipstick - Apple Brandy
tnlfraz0820 4/18/2009 10:30:00 AM
I can't believe I haven't written a review for this yet! Apple Brandy is a delicious, sheer red (with blue undertones) that is completely wearable. For reference, I am using MK Mineral Powder foundation in Beige 2 and have medium-blonde highlighted hair and hazel eyes. Apple Brandy looks beautiful when paired with neutral eyes or a light shimmery shadow (I usually use the lighter strips in my BB shimmer brick when I use this lippie). I would definitely repurchase this lipstick because it applies smoothly, doesn't bleed or feather and is very versatile!
Highlighters -Bobbi Brown - Shimmer Brick Compact Copper Diamond
tnlfraz0820 1/25/2009 5:22:00 PM
This is the second shimmer brick that I have bought (Bronze was my first) and although I like it, I can't say that I love it as much as the one I had bought a few years ago. I agree with previous reviewers, this compact contains more gold tones than copper. It gives me a light, golden hue on my cheeks and works well on eyes, however I don't think it is nearly as pigmented or shimmery as my Bronze shimmer brick is. I also find the packaging beautiful and sophisticated, however it is a bit chunky in my makeup bag. Overall, I do like this shimmer brick, but I wouldn't repurchase it, even if it wasn't LE. Ladies with fairer skin or those looking for more subtle shimmer might like this better, but this only got me craving a new Bronze shimmer brick (which I just bought this weekend!)
Lotions/ Creams -Vaseline - Intensive Rescue Healing Hand Cream
tnlfraz0820 12/26/2008 5:29:00 PM
I really like this hand cream. It is definitely not as moisturizing as my L'Occitane shea butter hand cream or Beauticontrol's extreme repair, but it still does a nice job of smoothing my hands without being greasy! So, I save my heavy duty creams for night and pack this one in my purse for daytime (when I usually want to use hand cream anyways!) I too wish the chubby little tube was either smaller or filled with more product, but I will deal with it for the low price, high quality and accessibility of this product!
At first, the small brush of this mascara annoyed me since I was used to larger brushes. However, the tiny brush does help me to better reach the tiny lashes at the corners of my eyes. As previous reviewers have mentioned, this mascara alone isn't really enough for an all-out made up look, but it does the job for days when you want a natural look or if you are planning to use another mascara after it to pump up your lashes. I will finish my tube and then continue my quest for my mascara HG.....
Well, I absolutely loved this light, fresh, kind of watery floral fragrance for summer until my mother sniffed it and told me it reminded her of the scented Tampax tampons we have in our cabinet. That kind of ruined this for me because once she pointed it out, that is what this really does smell like (to me at least.) However, if you are looking for something unobtrusive and light you may want to give this a try and hopefully it won't smell that way to you!
I agree with previous reviewers that this is the perfect olive green! It looks great with my hazel eyes and medium blonde highlighted hair. I also love how this shadow has subtle gold shimmer in it, so it doesn't end up looking too muddy or matte. I usually wear this in the crease with wheat (pearlescent beige) as a base, but I am curious to try it with prize (soft gold shimmer) to see how that turns out. Overall with all Stila shadows I have tried, I absolutely adore it and will repurchase if I ever run out!
Usually I'm not a big fan of the color blue in general, but this looked so bright, so vivid and fun that I had to give it a try. This polish was definitely sheerer than I expected, especially for OPI, however two coats on my toes did the trick. The payoff for my hard work was a bold, royal blue that looks a little sassy and a lot of fun! I'm not sure if I would use this on my nails but if so, I think it would probably look best with short, or square shaped nails.
Wow! This shadow is quickly becoming one of my new favs for fall. For reference, I have hazel eyes, medium blonde highlighted hair and am currently using Mary Kay's mineral powder foundation in Ivory 2 and this shadow works great for me. I usually prefer to use twig in the crease of my eye, with either wheat or sun (my personal pick) as a base. Applies and blends like a dream, and is long-lasting when used with UDPP. Would definitely repurchase.
Moisturizers -Biore - Nourish Moisture Lotion SPF 15
tnlfraz0820 7/29/2008 1:53:00 PM
Let me begin by saying that I absolutely adored Biore's Pore-Minimizing lotion with SPF 15 and I was completely devastated when I stopped by my local ds to pick it up the other day and found it gone! So...I thought I'd give this new lotion a try. Like my previous fav, this is also oil-free, but it does seem to be a little more moisturizing which will definitely be a plus during the colder months, however it is a bit much for my extremely wacky seasonal skin right now. Although this lotion doesn't have the yummy watermelon scent that the pore-minimizing lotion had, it smells okay, kind of a crisp, herbal scent that masks the sunscreen smell. This lotion absorbs okay, but does leave my skin a bit shiny, so some kind of powder or foundation is a must for me. I also haven't had any problems with irritation, stinging, etc. To sum things up, this definitely isn't my pore-minimizing HG but it's definitely a reasonable substitute considering it's availability and low price (especially considering that this new bottle is 3.4 oz versus the 1.7 oz size of my old fav). Would most likely repurchase this lotion.
Let me get this out in the open right off the bat - I am fairly new to mineral powder foundations of any brand (except for my experimental phase of bare escentuals) and I usually do not really go for Mary Kay makeup since it seems so expensive for mediocre results (in my opinion). So, needless to say, I wasn't expecting much with this, but I love it! It gives my face a smooth, almost airbrushed quality and this foundation doesn't feel heavy or look cakey once on. My one slight gripe is that my shiny tzone will still glow through this stuff, but I just use an extra heavy hand in that area and it usually looks okay. Although I have been stealing this from my sister's makeup bag, I'm now planning on getting my own!
Blush -Maybelline - Dream Mousse Blush in Coffee Cake
tnlfraz0820 6/8/2008 6:00:00 PM
It has become my summer quest to find pretty and natural looking bronzers for my fair, N4/NW20 skin since I try to avoid tanning beds and the sun at all costs. Even though this is classified as a blush and not a bronzer, it still gives me a pretty, peachy-bronze glow that looks very natural. I really like this formula for whenever I'm using tinted moisturizer (usually Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Enhancer) and have found that it tends to apply more smoothly over liquid rather than powder foundations. It also has just the right amount of shimmer and stays pretty well on my normal/combo sensitive skin. Plus, the little jar is just so darn cute! If I ever run out, I would possibly repurchase, but most likely wouldn't just since I always like to try new and different products.
