Lotions/ Creams -Mary Kay - Satin Hands

I tried this years ago at a MK party - haven't been to one of those in YEARS! I loved it then but just thought it was too pricey. I just received the entire set as a gift for my birthday from my sis in law. What a super gift. I will definitely try this on my feet as well as my hands as I see others have done - sounds great. Can't wait for that satiny smooth feeling.

I used these when they first came out and I haven't used them since - I do maintain my white teeth with Rembrandt toothpaste (4-5 times/week) - then I just use Colgate Total the rest of the time. But I still get told how white my teeth are and people ask if I've had them whitened. If people ever stop asking I know I will buy them again - although I will likely buy the premium strips next time.

HG HG HG HG HG HG HG HG HG HG HG HG HG Okay you get my point - I love this stuff - it has changed my life - at least the life of my hands. I used to bite my nails because they were always chipping and jagged nevermind the mess of cuticles around them. A manicurist recommended this to me and I have not bitten my nails since - we are talking almost 2 years now and my nails have never looked better - nails and cuticles. Bonus - this stuff smells super. I keep a bottle in my nightstand and also in my purse, great to use on long drives (if I'm not the driver of course) - if the urge to start picking at my nails ever does pop up I brush on some sweet smelling SolarOil instead. :)

Treatments -Burt's Bees - Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

This is nice stuff. Got it in my stocking from dh a few years ago. Love the lemony smell. Nice to stash in multiple locations. I don't love it as much as my HG SolarOil by Creative. I am a reformed nail biter with very brittle nails. A manicurist finally informed that I in fact DO NOT have weak nails, I have brittle nails that need lots of moisture. She was right! I moisturize with Burt's Bees or SolarOil and my nails grow and DON'T chip and then there is no urge to bite them! People who have known my messy icky bitten nails are amazed at the transformation they see in my nails, and I no longer hide my hands. :)

Treatments -Biore - Pore Cleansing Strips - Nose

All I can say is once in awhile these are great fun to use! It never ceases to amaze me that even though I do take good care of my skin I can still see that little forest of gunk on that strip I rip off my nose! Whether it achieves anything or not in the long run, I feel like I have made a big accomplishment because I can SEE the effects of this product immediately on the strip.

Shampoo -Aveda - Scalp Benefits shampoo
rated 5 of 5
themama23 5/21/2006 2:27:00 PM

I first bought this shampoo in a gift set for my dh Christmas 2004. HE now requests it whenever he is getting low. The gift set also came with the conditioner and a gel that he loves. His hair is so short I find it hard to justify him needing conditioner but this is his fav shampoo and I love how it smells.

Shampoo -Aveda - Blue Malva Shampoo & Conditioner

Okay so this shampoo and conditioner probably worked quite well but I did not like the smell and that is the main reason I LOVE Aveda products. My hair had highlights and this was the shampoo and conditioner which they recommended to me at the Aveda Spa. I will not buy it again - stinky.

Treatments -DDF - Fade Gel 4

I have bought this product twice. I does seem expensive but you use so little and it lasts a long time. I have recommended this to SO many people suffering from melasma (post pregnancy use only) I came across this while surfing the web looking for something to lighten this patchy dark skin left behind after my beautiful babies arrived. I found the website skin911.com (I have no association with this site other than customer) This is where I purchased my first bottle of Fade Gel 4 and then I got my second bottle from Sephora. It is indeed my HG for repairing melasma and stubborn acne scars.

Polishes -OPI - I'm Not Really A Waitress
rated 5 of 5
themama23 5/21/2006 2:06:00 PM

HG red polish - lasts forever on! It is the perfect red. It doesn't have a pinkish, or bluish or orangey tint to it over time. This is my pedicure color bar none! I am not brave enough to wear red on my fingernails but my toes and my dh love this color. I will not run out off this color - I will repurchase before my bottle is gone.

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush

I love this blush. I bought it based on recommendation of InStyle mag (2005 best products list) So I have had it for close to one year. I have very pale skin and find a little of this blush gives me nice daytime color and let's face it - I don't go out much in the evening but when I do a little heavier hand with this blush seems to work just great. I will buy this again and again.

Conditioner -L'Oreal - ColorVive
rated 5 of 5
themama23 5/16/2006 1:43:00 PM

I had previously been using Rusk conditioners that I purchased from a salon. I thought they were reasonably priced, smelled nice and performed well. So I still think the price and smell of the Rusk conditioners is great but I decided to try L'Oreal Vive for color treated hair after seeing it recommended on a TV show. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT. It even feels rich in my hand before I put it in my hair. My hair is not nearly as frizzy (flat iron damage combined with natural frizzies) since I've been using this conditioner. I have actually gone out in public without flat ironing it because it is smooth enough for running around town. :) When my Rusk shampoo is gone I will likely try the L'Oreal Vive shampoo.

Lotions/ Creams -Eucerin - Aquaphor Healing Ointment
rated 5 of 5

Due to the glowing recommendations I found here at MUA I got my dh to buy this on his last trip to the US. It has worked wonders for my 5yo dd who has extremely dry scaly skin everywhere except her face. Her little bottom always had bright red scaly patches. Her dry skin is gone and bad red scaly patches have improved significantly, we have only used the cream 4 times. Does anyone know where we can purchase this in Canada?

Eye Makeup Remover -Marcelle - Gentle Makeup Remover for Sensitive Eyes
rated 2 of 5
themama23 4/21/2006 4:33:00 PM

Not the best for sure. I am not pleased with this eyemake up remover and will not purchase again. It looks like I get all my make up off at night but each morning I have little racoon eyes - not attractive. Best to date that I have used is Merle Norman Dual Action Eye Make up Remover. The MN does cost more (about $21 Can.) but is worth every penny as it removes ALL eye make up. I wear a waterproof cream liner and it is totally removed easily with my usual MN. Again trying the cheaper product didn't work but it sure is great when they do - I guess that is why we keep trying them.

Cleansers -Olay - Total Effects Anti Aging Anti Blemish Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
themama23 4/21/2006 4:26:00 PM

Love it! I have been using this product for awhile now. I noticed a big difference in my skin with the first tube I used. I then switched to a Clean & Clear cleanser (because I was lazy and picked up what I was able to find at the grocery store) what a difference. I immediately went back to Total Effects Anti-Aging Anti-Blemish Cleanser. My skin feels clean and fresh and NOT tight and dry. I have 35yo combination oily/normal skin. I have regular breakouts and minor scarring from breakouts. Using this with the Aspirin mask 2x/wk is REALLY making a difference in my complexion. Kudos I finally have a HG cleanser.

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
rated 5 of 5
themama23 4/11/2006 2:03:00 PM

You MUA users are a wealth of information. I love my Estee Lauder Lash XL but I have to say this is an awesome CHEAP mascara for natural soft lashes. I will be buying it again. I only put on one coat for fear of messing it up as it went on so well. I will try more coats tomorrow. I don't spend much time really touching my lashes but they are so soft, not clumpy or hard. So far no flaking (5hrs of wear.) Thanks for the awesome information.
