Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Royal Blue
sweetsmell 6/29/2008 5:05:00 PM
I used to want lots of crazy drama from my mascara, but lately I've preferred a more natural effect. I have very fair lashes, so black looks dramatic. This is a great alternative. It's simple, it adds a little length but not a ton, and best of all the blue tint just enhances my eyes beautifully without going overboard. And the other reviewers are right - you don't notice the brightness of the blue unless you're in bright lighting. I'm already on a second tube and the price is sure right.

Lip Gloss -Smashbox - O-GLOSS

I fell prey to this a few months ago when I had something to exchange at Sephora. Well...for once, a hyped-up product lived up to its expectation! Not only is this wonderfully moisturizing even after wearing off, but it also gives my lips a perfect bright pink tint that I love. Plus, it's not sticky, so it doesn't annoy me. I have so many products, but I would want to repurchase this!

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Infallible Lip Gloss
sweetsmell 2/9/2008 1:34:00 AM
I bought this in the shade "Fiery" and, while it looked beautiful on and did, in fact, wear for quite a long time, I ended up returning it. Why? That weird smell. It's not just that I didn't like it; no, every time I tried to wear this, my throat would burn a little and I'd start to wheeze. I've never really had that reaction to a product, but you can be sure I didn't want to make it a habit! P.S. I did find that the Colour Riche gloss in shade "Soft Wine" is very similar to "Fiery", and those glosses do not bother me.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Superstay lipcolor
sweetsmell 4/24/2007 2:12:00 PM
This has surpassed all other long-wearing lipcolors for me. If I want lipcolor that lasts all day and probably into the next (if I don't remove it!) but which also has comfortable wear, this is it. The colors are buildable, they feel extremely lightweight, and best of all, they don't cake after hours. Also, if you eat something with oil (like pizza) and it wears off a little, you can reapply it over the remnants without any gross buildup. I've never been able to do that with any of the other long-wearing lipcolors. I love the light Strawberry scent (as does my SO, who never realizes it's these but always says "your lips taste nice!" when I'm wearing one). Also, I enjoy the fact that I can mix the colors a little before they dry on my lips. Some of the lighter, frostier pink shades look beautiful over the bolder colors. The separately-sold remover product is also very convenient to use. I highly recommend you try one of these if you're looking for a good longwearing lipcolor!

Clinique is definitely not discontinuing this color - it's their #1 seller! Just wanted to put that rumor to rest.

Lip Gloss -Lancome - Juicy Tubes Smoothie - Butterflies
sweetsmell 3/15/2007 5:31:00 PM
In the tube, Butterflies looks like a clear pink infused with gold sparkles. However, it applies almost completely clear, leaving only a hint of color with a beautiful sparkling effect. It made my lips look full and, well, juicy! Has a slight scent watermelon scent. Really beautiful shade.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche - Target Red
sweetsmell 3/13/2007 12:56:00 PM
A Target exclusive color! Target Red is a gorgeous bright red with minute sparkles throughout (but don't worry, they're not the "glitter!" kind). I read somewhere that this is supposed to be based on the color of the Target symbol, and that's exactly what it looks like. It's packaged in a special bright "Target red" casing with a little Target symbol on the top of the case - adorable and eye-catching. Side note, I purchased mine in a special blister pack that included a free coordinating Anti-Feathering lipliner - not sure if it's only sold like that or not, but it was a nice bonus. If you like classic or bright red lipsticks and/or love Target, you should definitely check this out!

Powder -Vincent Longo - Pressed Powder - Translucent
sweetsmell 2/24/2007 1:55:00 AM
The best pressed powder I've ever used. I discovered it many years ago while on the hunt for something not too heavy on the Talc (it seems to make me itch) but which would still control shine, finish my look, and match my ghost-y skintone. This one does it all! It is one of my makeup staples and you will never see me without one.

Mascara -Clinique - high definition lashes
sweetsmell 9/13/2006 11:46:00 AM
I received a sample of this and I'm personally not fond of it. I tried it twice (even after hearing the "correct application techiques") and both times it just made my lashes stick together and look kind of clumpy. The brush doesn't really do much and then the comb part seems to stick them together. Also, I find it a little tricky manuvering the whole half-and-half brush. I will say, though, that I've seen some women put this on and have fantastic results - so I suspect it may be one of those mascaras that works very well for some people and not so well for others. For me, I'll be sticking with my Max Factor Lash Perfection!

Mascara -Max Factor - Lash Perfection
sweetsmell 9/13/2006 11:39:00 AM
This is the stuff that has made me monogamous to only one mascara! Intrigued by the idea of the rubber brush, I first bought a tube when it was still in the limited-edition preview packaging. I knew it was love at first swipe - this stuff makes my lashes look long, separated and gorgeous with only two coats and NO clumping! Most mascaras I used I would need to comb through with my Tweezerman metal comb after, or else face possible clumps (even the ones I liked). Not here! And even better was when the real product hit the shelves - it comes in a dark blue, which is my favorite mascara color because it's still glamorous and sexy without being too heavy on my fair lashes. (Sometimes black can look a little too harsh, but brown really doesn't do enough.) I've already been through a full tube and am almost done with my second. You bet I'll be buying another!

Lipstick -Clinique - Colour Surge Butter Shine Lipstick
sweetsmell 11/6/2005 7:08:00 PM
I'm loving this new line of lipsticks. They're extremely moisturizing in a way that I have not experienced with other lip products. Usually, even my favorite lipsticks dry on my lips after continuous wear. It's not something that bothers me; it's just a fact of lipstick-wearing life. The Butter Shines, however, do not cake! Even with hours of wear, reapplication, or after they've been wiped away, my lips feel very soft, as if I'd had on some kind of emollient balm. They're very easy to apply since they are on the sheerer side (though some colors, like Cranberry Cream, will give you a nice dose of pigment) and they make your lips look moist, not cakey. They may bleed a little if you don't use a lipliner (L'Oreal's clear lipliner is great with them!), but they're so easy to apply that you can easily just wipe off and start over. Finally, the packaging is super-cute: each tube looks like a long, elegant bamboo stick. I give these major thumbs-up and can't wait to see if they introduce more colors.

Lipstick -Paula's Choice - Constant Color Lip Paint
sweetsmell 10/21/2005 1:09:00 PM
I got one of these when they first came out. I chose the Honey Rose shade, and it never fails to elicit compliments when I wear it. It's sort of a warm-but-not-brown terracotta pink; very pretty. The product itself I am also pleased with. The application is easy and it dries quickly; it doesn't cake after hours of wear and it certainly does last a long, long time on my lips while still looking fresh. Thumbs-up from me, although I will caution that it's definitely more for those who don't mind a "matte" look or feel.

Lip Gloss -Sally Hansen - Diamond Lip Treatment - ALL colours
sweetsmell 2/17/2005 12:21:00 PM
Truly beautiful, inexpensive, LOVELY product! This wears surprisingly well for a gloss, and while it's perhaps a little stickier than the average gloss, you never feel like you have glue on your lips. The "diamond shine" name is no lie - this will sparkle like nobody's business! The scent is fun; sort of a raspberry-vanilla, and the applicator makes it easy to apply. I received several compliments from different men while wearing this. Definitely one of the best new drugstore products in a while.

Lipstick -Clinique - Colour Surge Lip Lacquer Demi-Matte Metallics in Pop Idol
sweetsmell 1/25/2005 3:21:00 PM
I love this enough that I realized I really should write a review about it. I like all of these Demi-Matte Metallic lip lacquers for their long yet comfortable wear, but Pop Idol is by far my favorite. In the jar, it looks to be a deep metallic berry, but on the lips it becomes a gorgeous metallic raspberry fuchsia which is extremely flattering on me. It can be layered to get more or less color, depending on what you want; either way, the color stays on and doesn't dry up, cake, or feather. Great product, great color.

Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Ganache for Lips
sweetsmell 1/11/2005 11:28:00 PM
I had never heard of this, but being a food-scented product lover, I was excited when I received it for Christmas. I love it! It really does a good job of moisturizing but doesn't cause rebound-effect dryness, the ingredients are excellent and, most of all, the scent is just delicious. I received the Cocoa Peppermint one and it is true to its name. Absolutely delicious and a real treat of a product!
