Palettes -Bobbi Brown - Shimmer Eye Kohl Palette
suelll 12/26/2006 3:27:00 AM
I've recently rediscovered this palette. I got it on ebay sometime ago but wasn't very impressed with it and soon after forgot all about it. I usually wear dark eyeliner only on weekends and lately I've just learned to tightline the LM way. Desperate for a cake liner type m/up I swish out this palette and use shu's 20B eyeliner brush wet (yes, not damp) to create a slightly pasty but still liquidy consistency on one of the ink squares and tightline with it. What a discovery! For eyelining the lids I use the talkon side of the brush the palette comes with and again, slightly wet (not as wet as tightlining tho) the brush & stroke the ink a few times and apply. It doesnt budge any more than the gel liners do and i like that I can control the consistency of the ink. And also how thick or thin I want the line to be. The color stays true if you have a good base and have the eye liner in the right consistency. Practice makes perfect!

Makeup Brushes -Shu Uemura - Angled Badger-Hair Eyebrow Brush - 6 OB
suelll 12/13/2006 12:50:00 AM
If I lose this brush I would buy it again. I started with powder lining my brows, then to pencil and I much prefer the former. I will not use anything else despite the high price. I was shopping for a shorter version of any angled badger brush but so far nothing compares to shu's. This brush has the finest tip of all the brushes out there and it gives you a nice thin 'tail' to your eyebrows. I can finally say that I have found my first HG.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Color Riche Star Secret Aishwarya Beige
suelll 11/20/2006 4:01:00 AM
Now i know why it's sold out everywhere, i managed to get 2 at the nearest drugstore to where i live. i wouldn't describe this color as beige, it was mauve but a very toned down kind of mauve on my medium pigmented lips... so it gives a nude look to lips. i used to think i had very pigmented lips until i read the reviews below about this not showing up on more pigmented lips. I didnt have this problem.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipgloss- Cherries in the Glow [DISCONTINUED]
suelll 10/11/2006 2:36:00 AM
I am probably reviewing the old formula one without the gold band. Once on it makes my fairly pigmented lips a little rosier, still see through as it's sheer but very very shiny without any shimmers. I believe this belongs to the more long lasting lip glosses beating stila lip glaze or shu sweet lip gloss. I was expecting more pigments and wanted a nude color but at the d/s i thought nude lustre looked a little too glittery for my taste and raisin glaze looked a tad too dark to be nude for me. I would probably try out more SL in that order nonetheless. NC20ish, olive asian skintone, dark hair.

Powder -Unlisted Brand - MAD minerals - in Light Golden
suelll 8/2/2006 5:31:00 AM
I must admit that the main reason why i gave this product a shot was because of the one review by ali, she seems to like it enough and compared it to JI - we had the same kind of problems. I was faithful to JI's pressed based until I finally gave up on finding my shade and the oiliness even with the primer underneath. I thk it drives my point further in this review to disclose that i also ordered the EM free kit, their yellowest shade 'light' was still pink on me and though semi-matte and matte looks great but my happiness was always short lived - by noon, they do fade starting with the oilier parts. Now, back to the actual review. MM has the most yellow mineral foundational shades i have ever encountered. Most times i find it best when i can find a shade to match my neck, and by mixing 3 parts Olive Light with 1 part Olive Medium - a perfect match and it doenst fade by midday and i dont look greasy or appear to have huge pores. I m quite pleased with my find at around $8 for a medium sized refill baggy (i got it at 20% off)it can easily last more than 3 months and they ship worldwide with reasonable shipping fees. I will most probably repurchase, my bsb minerals are on the way and if their's turn out better than MAD's I doubt, I'll let you know. I almost forget, I apply using a latex sponge i get better control that way compared to a brush. The consistency of MAD is slightly lighter, more like a loose powder compared the EM or JI. HTH!

Lipstick -Shu Uemura - Rouge 4 Lipstick
suelll 7/24/2006 4:43:00 AM
I m reviewing the 956 which is a 'earthy nude' as described by shu website, i have pigmented lips and 956 just makes them look smooth, luscious and naturally better looking. I am unsure if it's moisturizing enough for some as i always use a lip balm underneath first but it isnt horribly drying. However it looks moisturizing and creamy. i am debating a back-up as it does have a wierd taste sometimes and wears off after a meal/ a lot of talking. the 357 which is described as ' Shimmery Strawberry Pink' somehow isnt as creamy as the 956 and is sheerer than i would like. It's quite a task to get it to show on my lips - nude l/l, blotting etc needed but after all the work i love this with smoky eyes. i have fair olive skin BB warmsand 2.5, NC 20++.

i have sampled arabie and this reminds me of it, a little less spicy perhaps but spicy nonetheless and it never fails to make me feel like sneezing. like shiseido's FdB it's got the same sharp spicy-peppery top notes but AS is taking longer to settle down...I am still sitting, waiting, wishing to feel the warmth that is suppose to come with most ambery scent. sigh, good thing tho that is i only got a sample in a swap. sorry SL.

Powder -Jane Iredale - Pure Pressed Base
suelll 6/12/2006 9:27:00 PM
I use a stiff medium sized blush brush i bought from my local 100 yen shop and thats US$1.33 to use for this and apply it section by section. I love everything abt this foundation, i have never broken out from using this and never experience any itchiness or discomfort. Everything abt this is perfect for me and exactly what i wanted in a foundation - wonderful even coverage for redness, conceals acne scars easily, makes my skin better but unfortunately i could never wear it no more, i tried warm silk, while it matches my face to a satisfying degree it was completely different from my neck- too pink! ok, i tried satin - again too pink, amber - white/grey cast, warm sienna - yellow enough but too dark. i guess that's a big hint that i should move on over to another mineral mu brand and it took me 8 months to finally give up. For those of you who find it too shiny/ oily you should consider getting the absence, it really works and was made to use underneath their bases. it made a lot of difference to me at least despite never finding my shade.

Crème -Bobbi Brown - Oil-Free Even Finish Compact Foundation
suelll 6/12/2006 9:08:00 PM
I actually like this product despite all the nasty reviews from the break-out prones. I break-out fairly easily too so i never use this more than 2 times in a row perhaps that is why it hasnt happened to me yet. I use it on days I want to look especially polished like formal occs etc..I like that it somehow matches my skin perfectly, spreads easily (i use fingers) and covers redness naturally, doubles as a concealer on darker acne scar spots plus it doesnt smells funky. this is the second foundation that I'll finish, the first one was shu velvet powder. but all good things come with a price tag. you only get very little product for the high price so i m on the fence on repurchasing, my compact is 30% left and i favor mineral mu more now.

Highlighters -The Body Shop - Shimmer Waves in Peach
suelll 5/22/2006 1:26:00 AM
i had the shimmerbrick in apricot when i bought this and since then i had not touched the shimmerbrick once. i prefer this as i m not that good with mu technique yet and this product gives me some error margin. why, because it's sheerer and the powder doesnt fly everywhere and it's harder to over apply. my opinion of this product is solely based on my comparison of it with BB shimmerbrick in apricot. it doesnt magnify pores and make me look frosty, just love it! i wonder if i should get the bronze as well. i wont repurchase tho as i hardly use highlighter only on occassions but if u dont have one you should try it!

Foundations -Shu Uemura - UV Underbase DF SPF17+++
suelll 5/10/2006 1:19:00 AM
i have repurchased this and am kindda stuck with abt half of my third bottle. the reason i repurchased was because it worked so well when used under the velvet perfect powder foundation unfortunately when i replaced my finished velvet perfect with the whitening powder foundation i didnt like it anymore. so, i stopped from using powder foundation all together and switched to water perfect liquid foundation.
the UV underbase i believe only has a SPF17 PA++ and not SPF17 PA+++ so it is still lacking in a way in it's sun protection. if you read articles regarding sun protection you will know the difference, sorry i have forgotten what it was. anyways, if you buy this from asia it would have a SPF 17, outside of asia the SPF is only around 8 or 10.
i shake the bottle vigorously first and then pump a small amount onto my palm and use my fingers (using a sponge IMO is just too wasteful tho it looks a tad more even) to apply a layer as thin and as even as possible, this is crucial if you apply powder foundation over it to prevent streaks. the mousse goes on very sheer and has a brightening effect. it did tame some degree of redness as it also act as a canvas for a smooth and even application of powder foundation. i wouldnt go out with just wearing this tho. one bottle lasts up to 4 months for me if used daily.
i probably would purchse the velvet powder foundation again to use with this.

Powder -Shu Uemura - Shu Uemura White Recovery
suelll 5/10/2006 12:55:00 AM
i bought the velvet perfect foundation first and then refilled the compact with the water perfect. i cannot find a good way to use this that would not cause blending streaks and cakings. the best result i got was from using this dry with the sponge that comes with the compact. it's not the sponge, i bought a brand new one for the new powder. it's not the moistuzer either, i hv used it with their spf17 pa++ mousse like primer, uv protect spf 25 pa++, various moisturizer but nothing helps. and i even tried using a dampened sponge - made it worst. but nice scent, very herbal like that is before it starts to oxidize and smells of iron.
velvet perfect was much much much better, i normally just dampened the sponge at home and apply it in the car on the way to work whenever i was running late which is quite often. every single time i get beautiful results, blotting always comes when using this by mid day. would not repurchase any of the two, prefer to use liquid now...i'll just skip the extra 10 mins snooze so to look much better.
UPDATE: I stopped from using this for a couple of months because i got tired of looking streaky and shiny. also i couldnt wait to finish the compact but i dont thk i will - ever. i just used it last week and when i got home in the evening i had tiny zits all over my face. i never had that reaction b4 this but thankfully my sisley mask helped. i m throwing it out.

Masks -Sisley - Botanical Facial Mask With Tropical Resins
suelll 5/8/2006 11:41:00 PM
i got one sample of this and used it twice on my t-zone and trouble spots and this stuff sucks out impurities like no other masks that i have used has. i got a tiny zit on my cheek and after one use it was gone! i was so amazed but i dont like the fact that i have to use a seperate eye mask when using this and risk having the not so oily other parts of my face dehydrated while waiting for the 10 mins. i prefer linden blossom mask to this for this reason. would repurchase to use only as a trouble spot leave-on.

Masks -Sisley - Masque Givre - Botanical Mask with Linden Blossom
suelll 5/8/2006 11:32:00 PM
i got a few sample packets of this and i use this on my face including my eyes at least twice a week and in a month's time i noticed obvious results. firstly, i have less breakouts, less of the tiny zits, my pores are smaller now and my skintone is much more even tone. i use the botanical face gel in the morning, then ecological compound, all day all year day care and at night after removing mu and washing with shu cleansing water i put this on for 20 -30 minutes. remove with wet sponge and rinse and then just ecological compound with eye cream. the next morning i wake up to a great face! this, together with a balanced diet i look like i did when i was 25! i would most probably purchase the full sized tube when i get the chance and a lot of $$.*update* I up the rating to a 5. i look forward to using it everytime and sometimes i use it everyday and it's so convenient becaause it can be used around the eyes and only so little is needed and it can be left on for hours as it doesnt dry off, perfect the busy week nights.
