Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Dallas
stephie06 7/16/2007 3:36:00 PM
Personally, I don't like to buy Benefit products because of the all hype, no results factor of their marketing (no offense to any Benefit fans!), but Dallas blush (as well as a few other of the blushes) is one of their redeeming products. This blush gives me a beautiful glow, like I've been outdoors :) I'm AAB NC30 in MAC just for comparison. The packaging is definitely cute, but the cardboard box doesn't seem reasonable. I've had mine for a month and it still is fine, but I know that some of the blushes for other ladies has fallen apart. It's cute, but totally not workable. I'll definitely repurchase though. I love love love this blush! I'm now tempted to buy their other blushes if the pricing wasn't so extravagent!

Mascara -Shiseido - The Makeup Mascara Base [DISCONTINUED]
stephie06 7/16/2007 3:31:00 PM
This is my all-time favorite mascara base!!! The only downside is that the brush seems to clump up too much formula onto my lashes. When that happens, my mascara gets all nasty and clumpy, but I just fix it using a clean mascara brush to take away the clumps. Yeah, I'd like it if it didn't clump up, but a few seconds of my time to brush them away doesn't hurt either. This is my HG base! I apply the mascara base first and before it dries, i put on the mascara. The MA who sold me the base told me to do this and it really does work! My mascra stays in place all day long. It kind of is a pain to take off, but if you just place you makeup-remover soaked cotton ball on your lid for a few seconds, the mascara will loosen and you can just sweep it off. I use MAC Wipes.

Pressed Powders -MAC - Blot Powder - Medium/Dark
stephie06 7/16/2007 3:27:00 PM
Pros: I love how this powder gives my skin a nice matte finish. Also, it eliminates shine and oil. I can re-apply it a few times a day if it's completely necessary, but most of the time, I just use it to set my foundation and use oil-blotting sheets. Cons: First, I dislike the applicator it comes with. Unlike the Select Sheer Powders that come with a nice suede feeling puff (?), Blot Powder comes with a more cotton feeling one that feels too harsh on my skin. I ended up just buying a new applicator from MAC to replace it. Second, if you apply too much, it seems to cake on. That's reasonable but almost everyday I end up with a bit too much on my nose, even if i'm applying it liberally. i have to fix it with Fix+ spray so that i don't look all cakey. Overall, I love this product. I'll definitely repurchase if I have too, unless I find something else I love.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - BADgal Lash
stephie06 6/17/2007 1:03:00 PM
i'm sure y'all know how it is. you walk by a makeup counter of macy's, or some other department store, minding your own business when a cunning sales woman (or man) stops you. that's what happened to me & i ended up with what i thought was an HG mascara. bad gal lash is probably one of the worst mascaras i have used. i've read many good reviews on it, but for some reason it doesn't work for me. i have longer lashes than most asian girls & i thought this mascara would be great. the packaging, along with many of benefit's products, is adorable & marketing definitely is doing there job! also, the sales lady was very convincing that it would look "wonderful" on me. when she applied the product to my lashes (i was already wearing mac loud lash), it seemed to be very voluminous. i went home with my $19 mascara thinking that i was the luckiest girl on earth. when i tried it on myself, my lashes had NO volume, NO thickness, and practically NO color. it was way too liquidy & the large applicator was unwieldy. i definitely will not be repurchasing this product. i've now become suspicious of benefit's products as i bought a couple more items that have less than mediocre results. the packaging is definitely the only good thing about this mascara, in my eyes. maybe i'll reconsider this mascara after it sits in my makeup kit for a while. i've found that just waiting for the mascara to age a little works wonders. if this is the case, i'll revise my review later.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eye-Liner Gel in Blacktrack
stephie06 6/5/2007 12:40:00 AM
fluidline is my most favorite eye liner! blacktrack was the first fluidline that i purchased, and i was instantly in love. i find that applying fluidline with a brush is much easier than using the applicator in a normal liquid liner. the color is true black & hardly smears. i wear it on my waterline & top lid, and it pretty much lasts all day. however, i'll have a smear every now & again on my outer corners, but that's the only downside.
