Lipstick -MAC - Slimshine in Intimidate [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
stellastar28 4/26/2008 4:06:00 AM

So loving wearing this at the moment, the texture and feel is so creamy but light, kinda slippy. the shine is amazing i wear this fairly lightly for a semi sheer wash to even out my slightly pigmented lips. This colour is described by MAC as "creamy plummy pink in a cream finish" . I dont find this a gives a matte pigmented lipstick more of a lipgloss look, as the coloue comes of sheer and not opaque. Iam also liking the new sleek metal packaging. Only complaints are how little product you get for £11.50 as it does melt onto your lips so i am using it up quicker than less creamy slightly harder lippies. And also it dont last very long need to reapply every couple of hours. Cant wait to try other slimshines, got my eye on Funshine at the moment. So if only this lasted longer I would give it a five. UPDATE: Oh my god this stuff barely lasts 5 minutes!!! and it completely melted in the tube on my trip to the beach, so now i cant twist it back down into the tube and need to use a lipbrush!!

Eyeliner -Smashbox - Cream Eyeliner in Smashing Caviar
rated 3 of 5
stellastar28 4/11/2008 9:33:00 AM

This is my first cream liner ever, and although i like how it looks initially i find that it smudges very easily. it is a good deep shade of black, very pigmented. I hate the flat liner brush this comes with because it is too wide and makes it difficult to get onto the inner corners. Also if your liner has started to dry out a little this brush will just move it around without applying it where you previously lined it. i would never consider buying this on its own, when i get it in a kit its fine though.

Palettes -Laura Geller - baked collection
rated 3 of 5
stellastar28 4/10/2008 12:40:00 PM

I have this collection in a different color option, got it in uk from QVC. It contains:- Balance & Brighten (FS) Balance & Bronze (FS) Blush & Brighten (FS) in Pink Grapefruit Eyeshadow Trio (Granite, Quartz, Slate) Creamy Black Mascara Lipstick in Berries & Creme Dual ended shadow/liner brush Dual ended powder/blusher brush This cost just under £50 including P&P. Iam a MAC NW30 and use the balance and brighten as a foundation when i have clear skin, and during breakout to set my foundation, I feel that this is a good match to my skintone. been using for six months and still barely half way through. I am keeping the Bronze and Brighten for summer when I have a tan but overall these powders are really good quality and last the whole day on me. I would purchase these separately. The blush is absolutely gorgeous very natural looking flush so easy to use!! cant go wrong. The eyeshadow trio is total rubbish!! there is a pale green a deeper green and a dark blue. This has no pigment just a lot of sparkly shimmer which falls all over the place and looks messy. The lipstick is so gross it is a beige kinda muddy looking shimmery mauve color, I may have been able to this but the smell is so off putting , it smells 100 years old ( the old fasioned cheap fatty lipstick smell) I just cant bare to use this so I chucked! still have not used the mascara, as I have many others from various kits which I have accumulated. The powder brush is usable, but synthetic fibres could be much softer I find this a bit prickly, however the blusher end is softer, but i dount use as I find it a bit too small. The eyeshadow brush is too big for precise application, so it stays untouched, and the liner end I sometimes use with cream liners but find this a bit too flexible to get a thinner line though descent for a thicker bolder look, but it is tricky to use. Overall this kit is rubbish as a color collection because because the colours are all over the place the shadows are cool toned blues/greens the blush is warm golden pink and a neutral beige lipstick, in my opinion are just wrong to be worn together.

Blush -Pout - Flush Blush in Peachy Passion
rated 4 of 5
stellastar28 3/27/2008 2:45:00 PM

oh my god, this is the best cream blush ive ever used, just completely foolproof!! i used to hate cream blushes always found the hard to blend, but these go on so smooth and creamy and apply quite sheer, but are easily built up for a more heavy look. they look so natural no streaks or blotches at all. i have this in peachy passion which looks like a peachy pink apricot color, looks so gorgeous and dewy and fresh on my MAC NW30 skin. some of the brighter colors are a definite winner for tan indian asian skin. cant wait to get flushed pink now. UPDATE these kinda fade away on me after 4/5 hours. so sad i have to take off a lippie!!!

Lip Gloss -Pout - Pout Plump Gold Glitz
rated 3 of 5
stellastar28 3/21/2008 3:14:00 PM

This is a clear lipgloss with fairly large gliter particles, it is not a shimmery irridescence type of gloss. although i have not used it yet, iam a bit daunted by how big the glitter looks in the tube. I have used other pout plumps and they are very thick sticky minty glosses

Lipstick -Pout - Angel Face
rated 5 of 5
stellastar28 3/21/2008 2:07:00 PM

I would describe this as a coral pink shade, this does not look like orangey on me as there is enough pink in it which show through. It is a full cover cream lipstick, very moisturizing and comfortable to wear. lasts a good 4/5 hours with a delicious caramel vanilla kinda scent. really flattering on my MAC NW30 complexion. Gorgeous purple pink metal ridged tube packaging.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Powder Blush - Sand Pink
rated 4 of 5
stellastar28 3/21/2008 1:51:00 PM

I would describe this as a mauve berry kinda shade with a coolness to it, a mid toned pink without shimmer. A flat matte blush, highly pigmented so use a light hand. looks nice and natural on my NW30 olive skintone. Wont buy again as I like a slight shimmer in my blushes also the packaging is dead boring, cheap black plastic (I like pretty stuff like Benefit, Pout, Dior, Guerlain) stupid i know but usually the packaging is a draw for me. Overall a pretty colour for a cute flushed look, shows well on mid toned skin girls or those with a tan. Also rather expensive for a tiny amount. (£16 for a measly 3.2g here in the UK, thats near $30!!)

Mascara -Estee Lauder - Projectionist High Definition Volume Mascara

I received this in a GWP and am really impressed!! Made my lashes look longer and separated them so well. I have found this non irritating to my eyes, no horrid stinging or smell. I also like how the brush is like a cone shape and fairly long. I notice to flaking or clumpiness. Overall, my experience so far with this makes me wanna buy again for sure, though i dont know how much full size retails fot in the UK.

Eye Shadow -Smashbox - Fusion Eyeshadow (all shades)
rated 2 of 5
stellastar28 3/17/2008 12:21:00 PM

This was my first experience of smashbox shadows and i was very dissapointed, I have this in merge which contains a green, bronze, a deep mauvey color, a lilac shade and a creamy highlight color. None of the colors are pigmented at all and dont show up on me as you see the color in the pan. I use the lilac as base and mauve as the crease with the creamy color as highlight just under the brow, the best I can get is a descent brightened eye look. But all in all I hardly reach for it, based on this I would be very reluctant to buy smashbox shadows. I also feel their colours are very muted and kinda unappealing.

Conditioner -Ojon - Ultra Hydrating conditioner
rated 2 of 5
stellastar28 3/7/2008 7:57:00 AM

I just cant use this anywhere near my scalp its too rich and leaves it greasy looking real soon after washing. So i only use this on the length of my hair and tips without massaging into my scalp. I feel as though this leaves my hair not very conditioned and limp. doesnt feel good to use. And why pay money for something you dont enjoy or get results with. Its a ok product, but not worth the money as it retails for £18 per 250ml bottle. As for the packaging, my god its awful these tall skinny bottles make it a struggle to get the conditioner out and the thick texture cant be squeezed out through the nozzle, I have to unscrew the whole cap and shake it out. There are many other brands to try, cheaper ones than this for sure, Aveda and L'occitane to name a few.

Shampoo -Ojon - Hydrating Thickening Shampoo
rated 3 of 5
stellastar28 3/7/2008 7:47:00 AM

This was such a dissapointment to me, i have a 250ml bottle which has lasted me 5 months, but it only lasted this long because this shampoo left my scalp really balanced it neither made my roots greasy nor my scalp dry (I get flakes when its dry). So I didnt have to wash everyday as my scalp didnt get overly greasy after 24 hours. I only need to wash every 2/3 days. This has been the most nourishing and soothing shampoo for my scalp so far. But as for my hair well thats a different story!! without the matching conditioner it leaves my hair dry and limp with no body, my hair doesnt feel silky either. There is no glossiness either, but I feel as though this may have been nourishing to the hair. It does feel as though it is in good condition, and the shampoo is rather mild but cleansing without stripping away the natural oils. I have quite fine and fragile hair. This is way too expensive to buy just for my scalp if it didnt leave my hair limp and drab looking I would seriously consider buying again. The packing may look good but is seriously impracticle to use the bottles are far too skinny and tall which means its hard to get out when you reach the last half of the product.

Gels/Soaps -L'Occitane - Extra Gentle Wash for Hands and Body (Milk)
rated 3 of 5
stellastar28 3/7/2008 7:26:00 AM

I got this as I needed a gentle wash for my body as my lower legs are always itchy, dont know why as i dont have any rash or skin problems. My skin isnt dry either. Anyhow i thought this may be down to using harsh shower gels from supermarket. Even whan washing in just plain water i had the same itchy problem. So I thought I would try the most gentle cleanser I could find. And my gosh is this gentle!! it lathers and foams up nice but i dont really find it refreshing!! its too gentle i dont notice anything after using it, my skin isnt particularly hydrated after a shower . Ahh then I discovered it contains Sodium Laureth Sulphate. Which some say is harsh. Overall I just did not enjoy using this it doesnt feel luxurious at all!! I will try some of their scented stuff next or go back to Liz Earle as that doesnt contain SLS. I will finish this off on my kids.

Powders -T. LeClerc - Pressed Powder in Canelle
rated 2 of 5
stellastar28 3/7/2008 7:08:00 AM

This powder is so boring it doesnt do anything amazing at all. I found this to be a flat powder which doesnt have a very sheer feel to it. gives me a matte look. At £25 a compact this is so rubbish the compact itself feels light and plastic. Save yourself loads of money and buy something cheaper Mac powders, whilst nothing special only cost £15.50.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Georgia ] ] [DISCONTINUED]

stellastar28 3/6/2008 12:20:00 PM

I had a MA grab me at Selfridges and ask me what brands i usually use, and do i use benefit, and do i wanna try anything? i gave in and said okay lets try the peachy blush /powder so she started to pile it on with a fan brush all over my MAC NW30 complexion and insisted that it gave me a radiance and glow. It did go on smooth and even. (very finely milled pwder) I however saw no difference whatsoever! Maybe great for porcelain complexions. So I politely made my excuses and left. On my experience of this and other BeneFit products iam just not convinced if their range is for me. Although their counters are one of the friendliest you could visit. Their products would have to be really great to convince me to buy them cos i despise cardboard packaging!!

Lip Gloss -Bourjois - Effet 3D Glossy Lipstick Rose Arctic 15
rated 2 of 5
stellastar28 3/2/2008 5:08:00 AM

this is a light pink gloss with blue shimmer. it is a nice colour and lovely creamy thick texture. though iam not keen on the strong scent. this kinda looks purplish on my lips iam MAC NW30. not very flattering on my warm skintone, and brings out yellowness of my teeth. perhaps would look great on someone with a cooler skin tone.
