Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HiP Crystal Duo (generally)

I bought this in "precious" because I was looking for a shimmery warm pink shadow to accent my blue eyes, and this looked great in the pan. However, when I put it on... 1) the little sponge thing it comes with literally scoops up the shadow and dumps it on your lid 2) It's horribly chalky and doesn't spread 3) the glitter falls everywhere, immediately 4) there is NO color pay-off I'm returning it as soon as I can, it definitely isn't worth the $8.79 CVS is charging for it.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Exact
rated 4 of 5
speedymouse 1/10/2011 10:01:00 AM

This is my staple mascara - I'm not looking for much extra length or volume, just to darken the blond tips of my lashes. It looks just like my lashes, but better, and never clumps, unlike the CG professional waterproof mascara I also use.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Deep Clean Facial Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
speedymouse 12/5/2010 10:20:00 AM

This is an okay cleanser for me - I have oily, acne-prone skin and this doesn't break me out (I can't tell if it actually clears up my skin). I suspect a lot of the negative reviews are the people who didn't read the instructions on the back: you're supposed to lather it between your hands before you rub it on your face. I don't find that it dries me out too much, but I always use moisturizer afterwards and only use it once a day - I use the Cetaphil gentle cleanser in the mornings. To be honest, there are better cleansers out there but this one will do. I like Cerave Foaming Cleanser much better - does the same job at getting my makeup off but doesn't dry my skin! My skin is so much clearer now too that I'm not irritating it with the over-the-top Deep Cleansing stuff.

Liquid -Clinique - Almost Makeup [DISCONTINUED]
rated 2 of 5
speedymouse 11/2/2010 11:56:00 AM

**EDIT** I've determined that it breaks me out in little white bumps all over. My skin has improved so much since I stopped using it. :( I think I've found my HG foundation! I have it in neutral fair, and it matches my fair, yellow-toned skin well. It doesn't provide much coverage, but I use concealer over blemishes and acne marks. I'm still on the fence as to whether it breaks me out or not, but I'm leaning towards that it doesn't. Pros: - goes on smoothly, with no tugging - looks and feels like a second skin - even if I blot, it lasts all day, through workouts and rain - sanitary packaging - doesn't accentuate dry spots - leaves a nice natural, dewy finish Cons: - price - I wish it had higher spf I'm not really a make-up person, so the fact that this wears like iron and I can't notice that I'm wearing it is a HUGE plus.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss in Currant
rated 5 of 5
speedymouse 10/30/2010 5:12:00 PM

I think I've found my HG lip product! I bought this on a whim after receiving a sample in the discontinued color "creamsicle". I almost shied away from it because the color is darker than I would usually choose, but it's really flattering. I have fair, warm-toned skin and highly pigmented lips, and this gives me the perfect my-lips-but-better look. It's glossy but not shimmery, which I love, and not sticky at all. My favorite aspect - no taste at all! :) It's so moisturizing and has no minty taste or feel, unlike most lip balms and glosses. I'll repurchase this as long as they make it. Also, the tube lasts a long time.

Bronzers -Stila - Stila Sun SPF 15 Bronzing Powder - Shade 01
rated 2 of 5
speedymouse 10/29/2010 11:24:00 AM

I have fair, yellow-toned caucasian skin, and bought this in shade 01. Although I have very warm undertones, it made me look like an oompa-loompa even when applied with a light hand. It also made me really oily. I just couldn't get it to work. I bought the Physician's formula healthy glow multicolored bronzer and I like it much better.

Tinted Moisturizer -Aveeno - positively radiant
rated 2 of 5
speedymouse 10/28/2010 11:14:00 AM

This product just didn't work for me. I was looking for a cheaper alternative to my Clinique Almost makeup, and this doesn't compare. Pros: - when I first put it on, it gave my skin a wonderful luster - didn't break me out - medium is a good match for my fair, yellow-tinted skin Cons: - no staying power - streaked and slipped off my combination/oil face in no time, and came off when I blotted - oxidizes orange on me - STRONG smell, although it does fade - doesn't glide onto my face very easily - not moisturizing - accentuates flaky patches I ended up returning it to CVS. A note on the colors - they really should call this product "are you a vampire?" and "light", not light and medium.

Lipstick -Neutrogena - MoistureShine Lip Sheer in Shimmering Blush 30
rated 3 of 5

On my fair golden coloring, this shade looks like the barbie lipstick I used when I was 4. If you a cool-toned blond it would probably look great on you. I like the texture and if I see them on sale I'd definitely try it in another shade!

Bronzers -Physicians Formula - Powder Palette Multi-Colored Face Powder Light Bronzer
rated 5 of 5
speedymouse 10/9/2010 11:35:00 AM

I ran cross-country and track for seven years and never wore sunscreen, and had a wonderful sunkissed glow. Now that I've wised up and started protecting my skin, I wanted a product that would give me that look. THIS DOES!! I tried stila's bronzer before this and it was too dark and orange, but this gives me a wonderful spent-the-day-in-the-sun look. I have light, very yellow-toned skin and this is nice and peachy on me. It has buildable coverage. Of course, I use my own kabuki brush instead of the dinky little one that came in the bottom of the compact. I sweep the brush on the side of the compact with the two pink dots and do my cheeks and nose in a W-shape, and then use the completely brown side for my chin and temples. I'd highly recommend this to a fair gal looking for a natural glow. NOTE: I don't use to actually get "tan", I'm just looking for a bit of warmth. If you want to fake a trip to St. Tropez look elsewhere, because this is quite light and subtle.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Combination Skin Moisture Oil Free
rated 4 of 5
speedymouse 6/4/2010 12:28:00 PM

This is the perfect summer moisturizer for my oily skin. It doesn't do any miracles for oil control, but I don't mind blotting. It slips on nicely without any pulling on my skin, and a little goes a long way. This is definitely not a winter moisturizer for dry skin, but it's not meant to be. Plus, it doesn't break me out!

Pressed Powders -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Blends Translucent Oil-Control powder
rated 4 of 5
speedymouse 5/1/2010 4:01:00 PM

This doesn't control oil all that well for me, but I inherited oil-slick tendencies form my mom so not much does. It does add a nice polish to my skin. I don't know how to describe it - it doesn't give any coverage for my acne marks, but my skin looks more even. I use a fluffy brush that came as a special with my mineral sheers compact to apply it, not the dinky little thing that comes in the packaging. It sets my tinted moisturizer well, and I also sometimes just wear it over concealer. I have to use blotting papers after two or three hours. I don't find that it looks chalky or powdery if I buff it in well. It feels nice on my skin too.

Concealers -Clinique - Acne Solutions Clearing Concealer
rated 3 of 5
speedymouse 4/28/2010 5:42:00 PM

I was looking for a slightly higher-end but not to expensive product to replace the physicians formula green/light concealer I used for ages, and was hoping to get something that would enable me to just wear concealer and powder instead of having to fuss with foundation. I'm not thrilled with this. I have a lot of dark drown spots from acne, and this is better than nothing but doesn't cover them well. It makes whatever zit I have look flakey, though I've only used this for two days so I don't know how well it's shrinking the zit. It also dries on your finger before you have a chance to apply it - you really have to work fast. I'll keep on using it and will post an update; I have to wait ten days before returning it, because I bought it at Sephora with a check. If the salicylic acid really helps the zit or fades the spots, I'll keep on using it. If not, I still will since I'm broke. Maybe when I can afford it I'll invest in Amazing Concealer, it's the only thing that I've heard unanimously covers acne marks. EDIT: it does nothing for zits, and still turns that shade of orange. I've replaced it with Almay's skin-clearing concealer, which doesn't oxidize on me.
