Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - EXTRA VIRGIN Coconut Oil (All brands)
solai 4/27/2011 3:56:00 PM
Got sweaty feet? Hate the smell? Virgin coconut oil is your new best friend! I can't use this stuff on my face because it breaks me out but it's a must in hand and foot care. It takes care of smelly feet, prevents athletes foot and keeps my feet happy and healthy all year round. It also makes a great cuticle oil but for some reason works best when I use it under a moisturiser. One small jar goes a long way as long as you keep the opened jar in the fridge and depot a smaller amount to keep in your bathroom/wherever. A staple product for me.

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Grapeseed oil

Unfortunately, this broke me out. My skin is acne prone but I haven't gotten any breakouts from olive oil or argan oil. If you're prone to breakouts, use with care!

Fragrances -LUSH - Breath of God
solai 4/22/2011 8:53:00 AM
(review for the solid perfume) This perfume starts with a very light and fresh scent and then develops into a deeper, woodsy/musky scent. The description said it's inspired by Tibetan monasteries and as the scent developed towards the deeper tones, you can definitely "smell" the inspiration: I could really imagine being in the calmness of a Tibetan monastery. I wouldn't wear this as a perfume myself because the end notes are too musky and there's probably loads of people who don't like the end notes but I still liked the memories it brought back to me and the calming effect of the scent. Although it's described as a men's scent, I think it's a great unisex perfume as it doesn't smell too manly or girly. I could imagine buying the solid perfume just for bringing back the great memories. Four lippies for the positive experience :)

Fragrances -LUSH - Gorilla Perfume - Lust
solai 4/22/2011 8:40:00 AM
I thought to give this solid perfume a go since I get zits and bumps from spray perfumes. This product is very versatile as you can carry it in your purse, rub it in your hair, dab on any spot on your skin etc. It has a nice conditioning effect on the dry ends of my hair. I have to say that I really like jasmine and this sort of scents in general so it's perfect for me. It doesn't really smell "dirty sexy" to me, but finding this sort of scents isn't easy so I give it a definite thumbs up. The downside is the packaging as you can't push the stick down so you have to be careful with that. Also, I think it could do without the red dye although you can fade it by rubbing in the balm. Other than that I find this product really nice, the price good and the scent a perfect deep floral.

Primer/ Corrector -Korres - Silicone-Free Face Primer
solai 1/3/2011 3:03:00 PM
The great thing about this is that it's silicone free, has a nice lemon pie scent and that make-up applies well over it. However, I have dry combo skin and it definitely didn't do much to improve the staying power of my make-up on the t-zone or chin area. I had hoped it would have helped make-up stay better in harsh winter weather but no such hope - probably even worse on hot summer days. No oil control whatsoever either. This might be a good purchase for someone with dry skin but for me it wasn't anything great. I'll probably use it as a moisturiser in summer. I got this for 19 pounds, which was a tolerable price and I definitely wouldn't pay any more as it isn't worth that much money nor does it work amazingly well.

Masks -Dr. Hauschka - Soothing Mask
solai 11/9/2010 3:44:00 AM
I really like this mask as it's natural and moisturises the skin well. I have combination skin and this works really nicely on the dryer areas but doesn't clog my oily t-zone either. It's only slightly too heavy for the t-zone but moisturises none the less and my skin feels great after taking off the mask. You can use the mask as a moisturiser as well, which is great. I like the fact that the tub isn't too big - that way it lasts for a good while but not too long. If you have allergies or sensitive skin, you might get some itching form this but the same thing applies to all Dr Hauschka products. The only downside of this mask is that it's expensive as hell! That's the only reason why I wouldn't buy it - unless it's on sale

Masks -Dr. Hauschka - Rejuvenating Mask
solai 11/9/2010 3:39:00 AM
I'm not really sure what this is supposed to do. I used it according to the instructions but all it did was to form a sort of uncomfortable film on my face. It didn't really improve the look of my skin, sooth or moisturise. It's way too expensive and doesn't really work all that well. For a moisturising mask, I'd recommend buying the Dr Hauschka Soothing Mask - it works a lot better.

Masks -Dr. Hauschka - Cleansing Clay Mask
solai 11/9/2010 3:36:00 AM
This mask works nicely as a light exfoliator but that's about it. It comes as powder and you mix a bit of water and toner in it to form a paste. In my opinion, the mask isn't all that special and you can buy similar clay masks for a lot cheaper from other organic brands. Not very special, over-priced but exfoliates gently.

Moisturizers -Lavera - Mint Moisturizing Face Fluid
solai 10/29/2010 2:35:00 PM
This moisturizer isn't very thick but it doesn't absorb very well. It stays on top of the skin for a while and made my skin feel sweaty. It works under make-up, though, but doesn't prevent shine. The worst quality of this moisturizer is that it smells like a foot balm! The scent is really strong but fades after a while. It's an ok moisturizer for combination/oily skin but doesn't hold shine. I haven't yet come across any natural moisturizer that would, though. I wouldn't buy this again for the strong scent and because it absorbs slowly and feels uncomfortable on the skin for some time.

Moisturizers -La Roche Posay - Effaclar H Compensating Sothing Moisturizer
solai 10/8/2010 1:56:00 PM
Although light in texture, this cream was definitely too moisturising for my t-zone. I'd recommend this to someone with dry skin but if you have oilier skin that gets dry easy, this might be too moisturising. However, this might be good for rough winter weather, so I might give this another chance later.

Cleansers -Korres - Milk soap for stressed skin
solai 9/25/2010 3:52:00 AM
This soap bar can be used both for cleansing the face and body. I use it as a face soap. It's recommended for stressed skin but it can be a little drying if you have dry or very dry skin. I'd recommend this for normal to oily skin. It doesn't dry out my skin if I don't use it way too much and hasn't caused any irritation or breakouts. It has a very nice milky scent to it and the lather feels very soft. When you rinse it off, however, the skin becomes "squeaky" but I find this happens when you use any kind of a bar soap on your skin. It removes make-up nicely (even mascara, non-waterproof) but for really heavy duty cleansing I'd choose another product. This soap is really handy for travels and can be bought as a pair with the calendula soap. It's not for everybody but if you want a bar soap for travels or any other reason, this is a good choice.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Now Foods Celadrin Skin Renewal with Hyaluronic Acid Anti-aging
solai 9/25/2010 3:36:00 AM
This moisturiser smells very strongly like a vitamin c fizz tablet. After using a while I could smell a hint of vanilla in it, but it still smells pretty strongly like a vitamin drink. It's good for dry skin and absorbs pretty easily but definitely has no anti-aging effects or any other effects to that matter. All in all, it's just an average moisturiser with a strong scent. I stopped using it because the scent was so overpowering and really unpleasant. Even my husband minded the scent - it's that strong! I don't recommend buying this.

Masks -Montagne Jeunesse - Anti-stress Face Tonic with Plant Collagen & Pelvetiane Seaweed
solai 8/17/2010 7:08:00 AM
I like this mask because it has a seaside smell to it that reminds me of holidays. I'd imagine some people wouldn't like the smell (a mix of sea water and seaweed) but for me it's uplifting and relaxing. The mask itself tingles slightly when on the face, probably because of the menthol derivant it contains. If your face gets red easily, like mine does, don't put this on before going somewhere - it makes your face slightly red. I use this after any stressful day when I'm at home and want to relax.

Masks -Montagne Jeunesse - Dead sea anti-stress face tonic with Dead Sea minerals
solai 8/17/2010 6:56:00 AM
This sheet mask contains a lot of menthol. It has a cooling effect and my skin felt fresh but I could barely keep it on my face even for five minutes. The burning menthol liquid was too much for my skin. If you have sensitive skin, this mask is really going to give you trouble. The mask didn't really do anything apart from the fresh feeling after washing off the burning menthol liquid.

Sunscreen -Eucerin - Sun Fluid Mattifying SPF 50+
solai 8/13/2010 2:09:00 AM
What exactly is mattifying about this product is completely beyond me. The fluid is sticky and makes your skin shine like you just slathered it with oil. It doesn't feel irritating at all, though, so I'd say it's a good choice for DRY sensitive skin but not if you're the least bit oily. The product is quite fluid so it's easy to apply and doesn't leave a white cast. Make-up lasts moderately well with this but since it's so greasy, it's not the best for wearing under make-up. My skin is just slightly oily on the t-zone so I'd imagine someone with really oily skin couldn't use this at all under make-up. I think this ss is good for winter use if you don't want a heavy cream and for dry or irritated skin. Don't buy it if you're oily - you'll just waste money.
