Skincare - Face -Stridex - Triple Action Pads, Alcohol Free
siamesekiss 12/31/2005 7:45:00 AM
Finally! A product that works! I cannot even tell you how much this board has helped my acne and thanks to acne.org I tried this product. Let me say that prior to trying I was on Benzac 10% wash and Erythro pads from my derm. I was still having chin breakouts that were pretty painful about twice a month. Not often but it was annoying. Since using the Stridex th texture of my skin is smoother and breakouts are less frequent. I use half a pad in the morning and an entire one at night after washing my makeup off w/ Cetaphil anti-bacterial bar cleanser. Right before bed I still use an erythro pad before a little moisturizer. The erythro tends to dry me out a tad. I no longer use the benzac wash at all. It's been about 4 months and it seems I only breakout around my period time and it goes away quickly. I highly suggest trying this if you're at your wit's end. Make sure you are getting the one in the red box that is alcohol free. It does a month or so for it to start working so be patient. I gave it 4 lippies only because the SA in it does make my nail polish come off around the tips and I have to squeeze excess liquid off the pads before I use them.
This was a LE color I got at one of the discount stores once the new colors came out. It's a dark eggplant purple that flashes navy blue and dark gray when in light. It's shimmery/pearly but only slightly. The brush streaks the application but two coats of color and you can't tell. It's pretty shiney without the topcoat too. Not a speed dry but it didn't take long to dry, maybe 30 minutes. If you have a chance to CP or swap for this one it's a nice dark color without being too goth dark.
I can't believe I'm the only one to have tried this and thought enough to review it. I got this in a swap and immediately thought I wouldn't like it upon seeing the bottle. It's a white/silver color and pearlescent. I decided once my nails got long I'd experiment with the tons of n/p I own. I put this on, one thin coat and wow! I love it! It gives only a slightly white shimmery color to my nails but it doesn't streak at all on me. You can still see the whites of my nails so it's almost french manicure like. I've posted a pic in my profile. N/P in general doesn't last on my fingernails no matter what brand so it lasting only a day and a half is normal for me.
Shampoo -Bumble & Bumble - Density Therapy Shampoo

This is actually a review of my BF's since he's the one using it. His stylist suggested it to him since he has baby fine hair that has flyaways if he doesn't use a conditioner. He's been using only the shampoo for about a month and really loves it. I can certainly tell a difference. His hair no longer looks or feels oily and has actual made it look like it has a bit more volume. It comes in a soft metal tube which is not at all condusive for shampoos but it's worth the hassle for him. At $28 per tube though, it's expensive! Luckily, as with most men, a tube will last him 3 months. It barely has any smell, a slightly minty smell but it doesn't last.
Gels/Soaps -Kiss My Face - Bubble Wash Grape Jelli

This is under the kids section but I love this fruity scent :) It smells exactly like Dimetapp to me, a grape candy smell. It's not very moisturizing but it lathers really well and rinses clean. The bottle is a squeeze shampoo type bottle with a very small hole at the top, flip top cap. I would say that's the only downside to this product. The top could be a bit better designed but it does the job. The scent lasts only about 15 minutes but if you're looking just to have a grape smelling shower experience, I don't think you'll find a better product.
Primer/ Corrector -Avon - beComing Matte About You
siamesekiss 10/14/2005 10:27:00 PM
This is the newest mattifier from Avon and their beComing line. I've tried every single one that has come out and so far this is the best mattifier Avon has released. It does smell of alcohol which is one of the ingredients however, it did not dry my face out. I applied it in the morning over my Rx for acne and only had to blot once that day, late in the day. It did not leave a white film like the mark mattifer does (The Matter the Better). It's in a squeeze tube, quite a large size but at $15 it's still a little expensive IMO. I'd definitely buy it again and wish I had not just bid on some other stuff on Ebay for mattifying. I think this is going to be a new HG for me!
Goes on slighter lighter than it is in the tube, a muted , slightly sheer dark pink but almost red. Thank goodness it doesn't go on fuschia like many reds do. This is a creme, no sparkles which is a nice change to some of the other CJ out there. As always though, CJ streak and the round tips leave little to be desired but what can you expect for $7?
This looks so great in the bottle, but I was disappointed at how sheer it went on. I used three coats, hopinh the color would end up like the bottle but it didn't. Don't get me wrong, after the three coats it's a very pretty purple/pink w/ very tiny red sparkles. The combo of red doesn't sound like it would go but I swear it looks really cool :) Not gritty at all and I am sure it will last a while like most of the OPIs I've got. As w/ all OPIs though I wish the brush was a bit smaller for easier application.
Styling Products -Alberto Vo5 - Vo5 Miracle Mist Heat Defense Style Spray
siamesekiss 7/4/2005 4:25:00 PM
First off I will say I have almost waist length curly hair that knots very easily and is a little dry from coloring a month ago. This stuff not only smells good but works on detangling. I do not blow dry my hair so I specifically bought it just for softening and detangling. It comes in a small spray bottle and I really like that the spray is a fine mist rather than concentrated so it feels like it covers more hair with each spray. I spray just from about the earlobes down. It rids my hair of virtually all tangles and does not weigh my hair down at all. A definite buy again product for me and I can rarely say that about a drugstore hair product.
Treatments -Avon - Nail Experts Strong Results Length & Strength Complex
siamesekiss 5/28/2005 11:15:00 AM
Nothing has ever worked on my extremely soft and peeling nails until this stuff. I cannot believe a little $6 bottle of Avon could work like this. Not only have my nails stopped peeling but they are MUCH stronger and I am now able to grow them out. This stuff isn't a polish although it comes in a bottle w/ a brush. It's a treatment that sinks in, you use it twice daily. I've got a pic in my profile after using it only two weeks but I can tell you after week three, I am now hooked on the stuff and will continuously buy over and over
Treatments -Neutrogena - Advanced Solutions Facial Peel [DISCONTINUED]
siamesekiss 4/25/2005 8:05:00 PM
I've been using this for about a month, twice to three times a week. Sometimes I leave it on more than the 10 mins that is suggested. I do notice the texture of my skin is much smoother and it looks brighter. I've been breaking out so I can't say whether or not my acne scars have faded. I experienced a little drying but two nights of moisturizing took care of it. It could've been because I was in the sun for a few hours and not the peel. The downside, like many others have said, is that you have to put your fingers in the jar. It really needs to come in a tube. Compared to the Avon peel pads, I'd say I am more impressed with this peel. I'd repurchase again and hope they change the packaging.
Treatments -Avon - ANEW Clinical 2-Step Facial Peel

I had really high hopes for this products even before hearing the hype on the boards. The pads didn't feel like there was much on them but it did sting a little bit towards the 3rd minute in the process. My face was usually slightly pink after I used it. Just finished up the box after using it about 3X a week. First off, this is just a bit much if you ask me. Once or twice a week if fine but it recommends every other day. My skin does feel smoother but the scars have not really faded as much as I thought they would. I didn't have wrinkles to begin with (been blessed with a pudgy face :) so nothing to report there. I'd buy it again since I normally will give something a 2nd try. Maybe my face just needs more than one cycle of treatment. Overall is does do something and I didn't have any extra sensitivity which is good. I'll also say that I use Rx acne wash and treatments and this didn't effect my acne.
Mascara -Cover Girl - Fantastic Lash [DISCONTINUED]
siamesekiss 2/19/2005 8:38:00 AM
This is right up there w/ Full N Soft for me which I stopped by for political reasons about L"Oreal. Anyway, it makes lashes thick but it's not too clumpy. I always use a lash comb anyway no matter what mascara it is. It lengthens slightly but I don't go for length, I have thin lashes so I need fullness. A great quality low end mascara and I will definitely purchase again
Cleansers -Totally Juicy - pineapple pore cleanser
siamesekiss 2/19/2005 8:33:00 AM
This is a non foaming creamy cleanser that rinses great. It tingles slightly and has a wonderful pineapple scent. Comes in a tube but it would be wonderful in a pump bottle. My skin felt really soft afterwards. I can't use it everyday since I have a Rx cleanser for my adult chin acne but it's one I will certainly use on the weekends and/or leave at my bf's place.
I really did want to like this, especially considering the price and having to go out of my way to another city to get. It doesn't moisturize any better than any other conditioner, if anything, it left my hair w/ a filmy feeling. The worst part however is the smell. It smells like a very spicy vanilla and it way too overpowering. I had a headache the entire day that would not go away. I could even smell it on my pillow the next night after I had washed my hair. It's thick and just so strong. Definitely not buying this again :( I had heard so many great things about it, I really can't understand how anyone can tolerate the scent. I wouldn't buy a conditioner just for the scent anyway. By the way, my hair is waist length and wacy/curly, a little on the dry side
