Makeup Brushes -MAC - #150 Large Powder Brush
rebelprince 12/13/2010 1:30:00 AM
Despite it's downfalls, I still appreciate this brush. As far as being useful, it does wonderfully as a powder brush, bronzer brush, and is even great for a diffused and easily blended swipe of blush. I've also used it for powder foundation, and it works beautifully. However, what I'm going to be completely honest about, is that it's easily available in the form of other brushes. There are great powder brushes at all price ranges, so this one isn't really exceptional, even though it is quite good. I find the quality of the hair is generally good (in my opinion), but I'm absolutely sure you don't need to spend $42 on a brush to perform just as well.

Liquid -MAC - Pro Longwear Foundation
rebelprince 12/7/2010 3:46:00 AM
Simply a product that I wanted to love, but it failed in a few ways. The texture is thin and requires a standard foundation brush to really adapt to the skin in the best possible manner, but it can get thick quite easily. However, thinned with a drop of Care Blends oil, it tends to be just about perfect. That being said, I'm not commenting on the formulation when modified by a Care Blends oil. The formulation is pretty dry on the other hand. While I like a natural matte finish, this still feels pretty powdery and my skin doesn't look particularly real. The coverage is medium to buildable, which is to be expected. It doesn't spread as well as I'd like. But the pump is great, the color selection is a bit yellow but still good. I think it could be better, but if you're leaning more oily and you want some strong coverage, this is worth looking at. It's just not as impressive as I'd like it to be. However, it does hold up all day.

Concealers -MAC - Pro Longwear concealer
rebelprince 12/7/2010 3:38:00 AM
I'm not sure about how I feel about the pump because I tend to use one whole pump, but then I use a good deal less of my liquid foundation. But that's not the point. I really like this concealer. I feel like it's got a sheer texture but offers full coverage, and it's versatile. It stays really well, and while that means that it feels a bit dry, it doesn't actually dry out my skin. It just has a drier texture, similar to Select Cover-Up. I think this works better with a blending brush rather than a concealer brush, because this works beautifully when softly blended into areas that need it. I can use this for both my under-eye area and blemishes when they pop up.

Liquid -Giorgio Armani - Luminous Silk Foundation
rebelprince 11/25/2010 3:57:00 AM
Is this product expensive? Of course it is, but it's my HG foundation. I didn't think I'd ever find one where I just applied it and went, "This is it. This is the one." Luminous Silk wears all day on me, and doesn't always need to be powdered. It can actually be worn without it for a slight satiny look. It really feels like a second skin as the texture is barely there and it looks luminous. Quite honestly, the name is appropriate for the product. I love the pump, because it gives you a small amount, and that's really all you need. I don't even use a full pump on my entire face. I use approximately half a pump. I also didn't find this to be irritating on my skin. I can't say much more about it. The price of course, is steep, but you use so little and it's so beautifully packaged and it's practically packaged as well. The product inside is quality and leaves me with flawless looking skin. I can't ask for much more.

Cleansers -Caudalie - Cleansing Water
rebelprince 11/23/2010 11:46:00 PM
This is my go-to cleanser. I don't see myself changing any time soon either. I keep this beside my bed with a bag of Shiseido Facial Cotton. The reason why I love this cleanser? It doesn't require me to do anything but wipe my face off. It literally makes the process so easy that I can't make an excuse as to why I didn't take my makeup off, or wash my face before bed. I love it. Plus, it's totally gentle and the scent isn't overwhelming at all. I also like that it's not too bad for the price. It's a great cleansing water, and it doesn't really break the bank if you know just how expensive high end cleansing waters can be.

Moisturizers -Caudalie - Vinosource Quenching Sorbet Creme
rebelprince 11/23/2010 11:35:00 PM
Beautiful lightweight moisture that packs a punch in packaging that I don't have to stick my fingers in... I'm in love. This product not only works beautifully on my normal to dry, dehydrated and dull skin, but it smells amazing and it doesn't leave me feeling greasy like most creams that moisturize this well. I mean, this has a lot of antioxidant claims and I was thoroughly skeptical, but the truth is, this cream provides total comfort for my skin and it has left it in great shape. Better than before by far. I can't deny results. My dullness has faded, and I don't have dry patches popping up around my nose and on my cheeks. Plus, the price isn't that bad considering that it heralded such results for me.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
rebelprince 10/21/2010 7:43:00 PM
This palette is worth every penny, and well worth the wait for it to come back into stock. If you simply don't have a stock of neutrals hanging out, purchasing this palette will put you exactly where you need to be. All of the shades are gorgeously pigmented, and come in a variety of textures. I'm putting this into my bridal kit. Don't want to do make up ever again without it.

Lip Gloss -Beaute Cosmetics - Luminous Volume Gloss
rebelprince 10/20/2010 11:51:00 PM
Beauté seems to make some of my favorite products, and this product is no exception. The texture of this gloss is lightweight, but it stays so well. I never seem to worry about this gloss fading anywhere near as fast as my other glosses. The other benefit of this gloss is that the color is interesting. It doesn't layer on very heavy, and is indeed a sheer gloss, but when light hits it, it actually seems to have a stronger pigmentation. I'm not sure how that works, but it's what I've noticed. The shade range is gorgeous, especially for wearable looks. The finishes on all of these are creamy, even if they have a really fine shimmer, you can't really detect it. There is a plumping effect, but it's subtle. I still prefer it to other plumping glosses, though. As far as the price, yes... it's a bit steep, but I'd pay that for a gloss that I simply don't worry about and can always depend on.

Moisturizers -Chanel - Hydramax+ Active Moisture Cream
rebelprince 10/20/2010 11:44:00 PM
So, this cream is completely luxe and I adore it for making my skin feel like it's being treated with a luxury product, but the truth is, it's a lot of money for a product that I don't really need. Normal to dry skin would enjoy this, but for the price point, it wouldn't be the first thing I'd recommend. It does make your skin feel really soft and I didn't notice it causing any blemishes or clogged pores. The high point of this product is the fragrance because it smells absolutely gorgeous, but again, some people might find that to be a drawback. Bottom line: not a bad product that smells wonderful, but not as impressive as I'd like it to be for the price.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Embryolisse
rebelprince 8/9/2010 3:33:00 AM
In my personal opinion, this is a great product for occasional use. The reason why I say this is that it's very emollient and possibly problematic for people who are prone to clogging. The reason why I like it, though, is when your skin needs soothing and needs something to repair it when it's dry, flaky, or irritated, this works like a charm. I only use it once in a while, but I find that when I'm working with skin that needs some healing, this works really well to apply once and actually see results.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Powder Brush
rebelprince 7/25/2010 12:27:00 AM
I bought this brush partially for the price, and partially because I already own the 5 piece brush set and I thought the brushes were great. This brush, like all the others, was incredibly inexpensive for the quality of the brush. The brush is full, but not too dense, which is perfect in a powder brush. This brush allows for the sheerest distribution of powder, and it's so incredibly soft and luxurious, that I end up grabbing for it more than my MAC powder brushes. I also use this for sheer layers of bronzer and it's performed well in both categories. Not only would I buy it again, I intend to purchase a few more for my kit.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo Foundation Brush
rebelprince 7/24/2010 8:17:00 PM
I'll keep this short and sweet. I went ahead and purchased it because the price was incredibly inexpensive. The brush is synthetic so it's ideal for creams and liquids. I've tried it with both and I like it with both. The brush itself is soft and the handle is a great size, without being too long or too short to work with. There isn't a single thing I dislike about this brush. I'd suggest it to just about anyone who doesn't want to spend a great deal of money on an effective foundation brush. I intend to get a few more of these for my makeup kit.

Moisturizers -Boscia - Vital Daily Moisture SPF 15
rebelprince 7/6/2010 12:45:00 AM
This product isn't necessarily perfect, but it does what it sets out to do pretty well. The moisture is lightweight but my dry skin seems to like it well enough. It absorbs very quickly and leaves a soft, slightly luminous finish. It's hardly matte, but that's not really a problem. As long as it doesn't look greasy, right? It doesn't reek of sunscreen like most moisturizers with SPF, and this moisturizer provides protection from both UVA and UVB rays, as it has Octinoxate and Avobenzone. The packaging really is what makes me love this product. Because of the pump, I don't overuse it at all, and the airless aspect of it also helps keep the product itself preserved, as Boscia doesn't use any preservatives. I'd buy it again and again, mostly on the fact that it works if you need something for daytime that you just smack on and you're not going to get excessive sun exposure.

Moisturizers -Boscia - Oil Free Daily Hydration SPF 15
rebelprince 7/5/2010 11:50:00 PM
I think what I wanted to like about this product is exactly what deterred me away from this product after a very short period of use. The real problem here is that they're anticipating skin that gets oily before you even go from cleanser to moisturizer, because this provides no moisture. It left my skin that becomes normal/combination in the summer feeling dry and tight. I was hoping that it would provide just a touch of moisture, but I was thoroughly disappointed. I feel like even for oily skin, this wouldn't really work. It doesn't provide anything but SPF 15 and mattification.

Blush -Beaute Cosmetics - Liqui-Gel Stain for Cheeks & Lips - Flouron #500
rebelprince 7/1/2010 8:30:00 PM
I love products that multi-task. There is nothing that makes me happier than having a product that I can do my cheeks and lips with, but very rarely do the shades actually coordinate properly. I find that if I use some products on my cheeks and lips, one ends up looking garishly overdone. That's not the case with this. I find that it works as the perfect stain all around. It gives you a gorgeous flush and then enhances your lips beyond all reason with a natural looking stain as well. The price tag of $29 seems threatening, but it actually works far better than similarly priced products that have similar claims. I would recommend not applying directly from the wand but rather applying to the back of your hand and applying sparingly because this product can layer very quickly and turn very bright. However, I can't say that I don't love it.
