Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Colour Caresse Shine Stain / Shine Caresse
rated 4 of 5
pinkbrush 1/23/2013 5:15:00 PM

I picked up two of these after hearing that they were potential YSL glossy stain dupes, I loved the YSL ones but considering how expensive they were I wasn't about to get more than a few, with the L'oreal you can afford to. These retailed for $13.99 at Shoppers in Canada when I bought them, could of bought them on sale,or cheaper at Walmart, but I was impatient. The colour selection is very nice, I picked up only two just to try out, Pink Perseverance and Pink Resistance (the lightest in the line since I heard these run darker on your lips than in the tube and my lips definitely tend to do that). Perseverance is a very very light, almost undetectable, definitely will not show up at all on some people. Pink Resistance is a peachy/pink (the better of the two for sure), it has shimmers if I am not mistaken. In terms of comparing them to the YSL glossy stains, the packaging is very nice on both, the brush is very similar, and when they go on they feel similar (that wet feeling). The colour is buildable and requires several coats, much like the YSL, you apply one layer, let it dry, put on another and repeat. But the L'oreal ones fall short in the wear, they go patchy and uneven (whereas the YSL just tend to fade). Overall, a nice "dupe" of the YSL glossy stains, I will definitely buy more.

Foundations -Revlon - Nearly Naked Foundation
rated 3 of 5
pinkbrush 1/23/2013 5:10:00 PM

I love the UD Naked Skin, and this has been compared to it so I thought I would pick it up. I got suckered into it for sure because based on how Revlon foundations have suited me in the past and the terrible colour selection/packaging of this product, I would of probably passed on it completely if it wasn't for the hype. I was uncertain about my shade, since I fake tan I go from the lightest shade in most foundations to about an NC25. I've been buying "darker" shades lately to suit the tanned version of my skin. Nude seemed to be a common shade amongst NC25 tones so I picked up that, it looked scary pink in the bottle but translates okay on the skin, it's a close match, I think Shell would of been far too light, Fresh Beige too dark, so if you're NC25 this is the shade for you. I have dryish skin and it didn't cling anywhere, felt light and covered okay, it is buildable. With the accompanying powder (in Light, which isn't all that light) overtop it was too heavy on my skin (looked powdery overtop) and it seems to oxidize a lot (not sure if it was the powder's fault or the foundation or a mix of the two). I prefer UD Naked Skin over this and don't think I will buy this again, but since I am a foundation hoarder and try them all I rarely rebuy a foundation twice (unless I love it). It's a nice drugstore foundation however.

Pressed Powders -Rimmel - Stay Matte Pressed Powder (ALL)
rated 1 of 5
pinkbrush 1/23/2013 4:25:00 PM

I didn't like this at all on my dry-ish skin. The colour selection is poor, the texture is grainy an the packaging is terrible (it doesn't seem to lock a while lot). Plus it irritates my skin. I know lots of people like this powder, but it's not for me.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Moisture Surge Intense
rated 3 of 5
pinkbrush 1/22/2013 2:13:00 AM

I love the original moisture surge, but this one is far too fragranced and in a bad way, chemically. It's nice for dry skin, very hydrating, but I don't like how it never seems to dry on your face, it feels lacky all day long. I only got a sample of this in a gift with purchase, wouldn't buy the full size.

Concealers -Make Up For Ever - Full Cover Concealer
rated 5 of 5
pinkbrush 1/8/2013 2:36:00 AM

I use this to conceal redness on my face, basically that means using it on my cheeks, around my nose and mouth (aka my entire face like a foundation hahah, but I use a lot less product). There is a wide array of colours and it covers really well, long lasting etc. I don't think I will use this under my eyes, the sephora rep for mufe told me it's not a good idea and that it will age you 5 years. If I did I would definitely get a lighter colour because this one matches my skin right now pretty well.

Toners -Caudalie - Beauty Elixir
rated 3 of 5
pinkbrush 1/7/2013 1:41:00 AM

Probably the only product of it's kind that I have tried that make my face feel drier than before I applied it. The smell is nice, minty and refreshing, I know lots of people don't like this about it, but it's probably the only thing that I like, how it smells and feels when you spray it. After it dries down and I have to moisturize my face because it feels so dry the initial fondness dies down. I do continue to use it because I did buy the large bottle and it was expensive, but I won't be rebuying it.

Mascara -Rimmel - Scandal Eyes
rated 1 of 5
pinkbrush 1/5/2013 12:33:00 AM

With so many new mascaras being released and I try out many of them, it's often hard to find anything new or different that really stands out, this mascara is not an exception. I found this very average. My mom asked me for this for Christmas, I told here there is a whole world out there of great high-end mascaras, but she insisted on a Rimmel one because the ones she had used in the past were great. She isn't really "into" makeup like I am so she couldn't tell me which ones she had used. I purchased one for myself too so that I could see if it was anything amazing, it wasn't.

Bronzers -St.Tropez - Self Tan Bronzing Mousse
rated 5 of 5
pinkbrush 1/4/2013 5:46:00 AM

This product changed my life. I am pale naturally, about nc15 and my face never sees the sun (I live in Canada). I had such a hard time finding foundations that suited me, because they were all too pink or too dark. I love St Tropez Bronzing Mousse, it gives me nice tanned looking skin. The funny thing is, I can definitely notice a difference in my skin colour, but no one in my family has ever noticed, I think it's cause I look "normal" this way. I apply it and give it as long as possible to dry. I typically do it in the evening, sleep on it (leave it dry for as long as possible before I go to sleep, couple of hours at least). It does come off on my sheets, but nothing washing it won't take away. Then I shower in the morning, it does tone down a lot, and will tone down over the days and you have to re-do it of course to keep it up. I find it stays on me for about 5-6 days. I haven't gone through a bottle yet, I have the large 400ml bottle, but I will definitely buy it again. I use the mitt (and am on my second one because I don't mind it holds up very well). For those of you who find it's not dark enough, there is a "dark" version you should try out. It comes in a blue bottle.

Liquid -Urban Decay - Naked Skin
rated 5 of 5
pinkbrush 12/23/2012 8:39:00 PM

For reference I have dry skin and this foundation surprisingly works on me even though it's demi-matte, as long as I wear a good moisturizer and primer underneath (otherwise I find it does show on my skin and gets too powdery clingy). The shade selection is very good. My colour with sunless tanning is a 4 (exchanged it from the 3 that I bought earlier), normally I would be a 2. The coverage is good and buildable, I would say medium (on the high end).

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Clump Crusher mascara
rated 4 of 5
pinkbrush 12/13/2012 2:33:00 AM

I like trying new mascara, it's fun and inexpensive. I am a huge fan of the Cover Girl lashblast, so this one stuck my interest. It's a bit of a dryer formula, which I like. The brush is curved so it helps to lift your lashes, dries quickly, doesn't flake, I like it.

Bronzers -Tarte - Park Avenue Princess
rated 4 of 5
pinkbrush 11/25/2012 2:09:00 AM

Love the packaging of this! I got this as a mini with dollface blush. It's a nice subtle bronzer (with shimmer) for those with pale skin, and looks great as a blush too.

Blush -Tarte - Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Dollface
rated 3 of 5
pinkbrush 11/25/2012 2:08:00 AM

I got this in a set as a mini with park ave princess at sephora. I had purchased the full size about a year ago and returned it because the colour pulled more peach on me than the pink that shows in the pan. The blush is nice, but it doesn't translate as the same colour on my cheeks.

Liquid -Yves Saint Laurent - Teint Touche Eclat Foundation
rated 5 of 5
pinkbrush 11/25/2012 2:06:00 AM

Those with dry skin, you will love this! This feels very light on the skin and makes your skin glow. If you want high-coverage ,this one isn't for you, but the finish that it gives it's totally worth it (just add some concealer underneath if need be). Highly recommended.

Concealers -Maybelline - Dream Lumi Touch
rated 4 of 5
pinkbrush 9/27/2012 11:35:00 PM

This is a great undereye concealer, I have this in the colour "radiant" which is very pink tones (helps counteract blue veining well). The only thing I wish is that the applicator was better, I am not too keen on the click up plastic applicator, would of preferred a doe foot or a paint on type.

Pressed Powders -MAC - Studio Careblend
rated 4 of 5
pinkbrush 9/27/2012 11:33:00 PM

I have this in medium plus and light plus. I am around an NC15 but when I was tanned in the summer I used medium plus all over my face, when I am pale I use this one as a bronzer. I got light plus recently to suit my natural skin colour (aka winter skin). This powder is great on dry skin, it doesn't cake, feels nice and works well on it's own (light coverage) or as a setting powder. I prefer this over the mineralized skin natural because that one breaks me out.
