Cleansers -Philosophy - On a Clear Day Super wash for Oily Skin [DISCONTINUED]
olivehoney 7/14/2006 10:44:00 AM
Overall a good cleanser but i can't see myself purchasing this again. i really don't have acne but I decided to buy this to help prevent breakouts since I moved to Humidity Hell Houston TX. I usually use Real Purity, but thought I'd give this a shot. I really don't like the squeeze tube packaging but I guess it needs it since the formula is very very think. The only thing I couldn't stand was the sulfur in it. If I got it anywhere near my eyes, they would burn and water like crazy for hours...no seriously HOURS! I do have very sensitive eyes though. It really really cleaned the oil on my face though and I hear the sulfur that they put in it is great for this. My sensitive face just couldn't deal with it so i gave this facewash to my mother. If you really do have acne or breakout in your tzone tho, or you have a big problem with oil, and you can stand the slight sulfur smell, this would definitely be a good face wash cause it does exactly what it says. Just try to keep it away from your eyes and never use it to remove your eye makeup while washing your face if you have very sensitive eyes.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
olivehoney 7/14/2006 10:39:00 AM
My alltime favorite HG cleanser by far! I've been using it for about 8 years now (since my sophmore year in highschool...i'm 24 now) and I can't believe I've never written a review for this! It's so gentle and cleanse my overly sensitive skin so well :) It has natural oils which keep my skin so supple and I really do think this cleanser is one of the many philosophy reasons that my skin has looked so great over the years. Not drying at all and doesn't foam up so you know that it doesn't have any of those harsh cheapy lathering agents in it. The smell is great too, very fresh and sometimes I even thinnk it kind of smells like roses abit. Just makes my skin glow. I usually buy the larger 16oz bottle of this and it literally has lasted me forever! I think I've only repurchased this bottle twice in the 8 years I've been using it. You really only need about a quarter size or less to wash your entire face and neck. It also removes eyemakeup like no other without irritating my eyes or making them burn. All and all, i just love this face wash :)

Lip Gloss -Philosophy - The Supernatural Lipgloss in Soft Peach
olivehoney 7/14/2006 10:15:00 AM
This is philosphy's newest edition to their supernatural lipgloss collection. The color is called Soft peach and this is by far one of the best lipglosses I have ever tried!...and I have tons ranging from Mac to Becca. Completely different then philosophy's other lipglosses formulas, not as thick or sticky, but still has the same great vanilla mint scent and taste. The color is very peachy and would look good on almost anyone. Has a very tiny pink shimmery undertone to it, but not that much, nothing overwhelming. The brush is different from my other philosphy lipglosses, but then again I haven't bought a philosophy lipgloss in two years. My last purchase which was the Rose colored one from two years ago had a cloth like, q-tip style lip brush that you find in most glosses (think the lip wand in Bonne Bell and Lipsmackers lipglosses - similar to that), BUT NOW, with this lipgloss they have incorporated a brush that is the exact same brush or very similat to the ones they use in MAC lusterglasses!!! So soft and perfect! Makes the lipgloss apply like butter! The color really woke my face up and the formula lasted without being so so sticky. It was just great! It's definitely going to be my new everyday lipgloss cause it makes my lips look amazing and my whole face look fresh! :)

Mascara -Philosophy - The Supernatural Mascara The Anti-Mascara
olivehoney 7/14/2006 10:07:00 AM
Philosophy's new Supernatural Wrap Mascara is my new HG!!! I swear it's amazing. It's very similar to Blinc kiss Me mascara but sooooo much better :) The brush is alot more suitable then blincs and it seperates out every single lash so your lashes look naturally full and amazing. The formula is a wetter formula like blinc's but i love it cause it never clumps and the brush doesn't come out with tons of mascara. The color is extremely black and just makes your lashes !POP! The formula also gives you just enough time to recurl your lashes after applying before it completely dries and wraps each lash...which is different from blinc, since blinc would stick to my curler when I'd try to recurl. I even went swimming yesterday and it didn't budge. I also got acouple compliments while getting my hair cut yesterday on how amazing my lashes were. Didn't flake at all and removed pretty darn easily with a soft wash cloth, face wash and some warm water. It also covered the whole length of my really really long lashes, so they looked long and black to the very tip. Added just enough volume and my lashes didn't feel like plastic like some wrap mascaras make your lashes feel. For those of you that don't know, what this mascara does is wrap comppletely around each lash forming little protective tubes around each strand. You'll see this when you finally wash it off because instead of coming of in one smeary mess, this mascara slides off like little spider legs cause you're actually sliding the tubes of each lash. The packaging is typical beautiful philosophy with it's lacquered black tube and words printed in bright white lettering. Overall...I LOVE THIS MASCARA! Where has it been all my life? :)

Mascara -Almay - One Coat Nourishing-Thickening Waterproof
olivehoney 7/11/2006 9:18:00 AM
Actually a wonderful mascara. I had only tried Almay bright eyes before, but this one was great. Kept my lashes soft and seperated well, didn't clump up, but the formula is quite wet so just don't blink till it dries lol. Once it dries though it's wonderful. I even went to the beach yesterday and it didn't even smudge or budge in saltwater. Was also easy to remove with my Body Shop Chamomille Eye MU Remover and the mascara has aloe and vitamin E to health fortify your lashes. Really wet formula but I would definitely buy again. Plus you get a ton of mascar for the money in that think tube (.4 oz) compared to (.13) in my Lash Perfection. It even held my curl well. For a D/S this is definitely a good mascara.

Mascara -Sonia Kashuk - Mascara
olivehoney 7/11/2006 9:15:00 AM
One of the worst mascaras I have ever tried and I bought the one that comes with the little metal seperating comb. It was awful. clumped horribly, the brush bristles weren't dense enough to run through my lashes and when I ran the little metal brush through my lashes to seperate the mess, everything stated to flake off as it dried while I brushed. The pakaging seemed cute at first, typical all white clean cut...and I may just be being a cry baby, but when I'd twist the clear cap off to get to the littl metal brush, it made a sound that is only comparable to nails on a chalkboard. It was pretty bad. The price is actually pretty high, alittle over 8$ but you do get the metal comb, which didn't do much in my opinion. Just a flakey smudgey spidery mess IHMO.

Mascara -Stila - Major Lash Mascara
olivehoney 7/11/2006 8:49:00 AM
I liked this the first couple of days I had it, thought it could even be HG material but by the third day it didn't have the same effect. At first it seperated well, didn't clump and made my lashes just thick enough to plump them up abit. By the third day it started to clump alittle and I noticed during the day that it would flake off my lashes and make my eyes itch. It also wouldn't hold my curl anymore. Weird...it's almost like my lashes started to reject the formula lol. Just kidding, I'm sure that wasn't the case, but it really did start to perform horribly on the 3rd day. The price would be extremely reasonable if the mascara had been better considering it was only alittle over 10$, but the tube is quite skinny. The brush seemed pretty good though, dense bristles and ran through my lashes nicely, so I think it was only the mascara itself that was bad. The package is hohum...just plain gray tube, but packaging never really means that much to me if the mascara is good. PS: I really wanted Lash Visor and they were completely sold out....that's gotta say something about lash visor.

Lipstick -MAC - Freckletone lipstick
olivehoney 6/27/2006 11:19:00 AM
At first I didn't think this color would look good at all with my black hair and light/medium olive skin tone but it makes my face look so fresh. I never new I could wear peachy tones! The color is a gorgeous natural flesh peach tone that really makes my face look warm and makes any eye look I do pop. The formula is a lustre but there isn't any shimmer from what I can tell. To me it almost seems like more of a glaze formula, but either way it's just perfect and so moisturizing. I also love how all MAC lippies smell like sweet cocoa butter, but that's just me :) For me, this is a total YLBB peach tone for my lips that just makes my lips and face look healthy. I'm so glad I bought this one. If you need an example of the color, look up Jessica Biels look on google for the stealth premeire. I think that's the color she's wearing on her lips and if it's not it's almost exactly the same color and consistancy. Hope that helps :)

Eye Shadow -NARS - Corfu
olivehoney 6/27/2006 11:14:00 AM
I use this color just about everyday! On my olive medium skin tone it's my perfect taupe bronzey shade which just my eyes look so much better. It really wakesmy whole face up. Very subtle shimmer and doesn't seem to crease on my eye lids at all. I also love using it as a base and putting other shadows like my Earth Angels duo over it to really make the colors stand out. All and all it's just an HG color that does sooooo many thing :)

Eye Shadow -MAC - Scene Eyeshadow
olivehoney 6/27/2006 10:57:00 AM
I absolutely love this shadow. Against my almost ebony eye color, it really makes my eyes pop! I'm very olive toned medium skin with black hair and I didn't think this color would work for me at all but it is just GORGEOUS! To me it's kind of a muted matte lavender grayish tone but it's so neutral and easy to use. I can use it all over my lid, in the crease or apply a converter and use it as a great cake liner. i just can't get enough of it. I think I have finally found my perfect gray eyeshadow :)

Conditioner -Aveda - Damage Remedy Restructuring Conditioner
olivehoney 6/27/2006 10:55:00 AM
This conditioner is amazing to my baby fine but tons of it head of hair. My hair just seems to love it and soak it right up. It's quite expensive but when I use it, it's so concentrated that I literally use about a dime to nickle size, emulsify it in my palms and apply it from my roots to ends. It covers my whole head and I have very long mid back length hair. I leave it in acouple of minutes, rinse and voila. I can run my fingers through it wet and my hair feels so soft and healthy after I blow dry. I don't know if it actually heals split ends....I don't think any condish can actually HEAL them, but I have noticed less breakage and if I use it right after a hair cut, I definitely don't notice any split ends at all for quite awhile...atleast till I go to the beach or go swimming :) Either way this condisher makes my hair feel buttery soft and shiny, really healthy looking and shiny is a must for my naturally dark black hair. I don't have the shampoo but I use it with Aveda Scalp Benefits Shampoo which seems to make a nice neutralized base for this conditioner. This could be the reason that it works so well or feels so concentrated on my hair. I will definitely continue to use it and keep you guys posted :)

Shampoo -Aveda - Scalp Benefits shampoo
olivehoney 6/27/2006 10:48:00 AM
I just moved from New Mexico to Houston TX and my hair and scalp was freaking out cause of the humidity. I just never knew that it could have been a scalp condition. My aveda stylist recommended that I make a switch from my normal Sap Moss and suggested this. My hair feels ssooooooo much better now. I even love the scent which is kind of strong but smells like sage. My hair is baby baby fine but I have a ton of it and this stuff seems to lather moderately well. But then again I never judge a shampoo on how it lathers since most shampoos lather up well due to cheapy lathering agents which really do nothing but foam up and make you feel like your cleaning better. As a matter a fact the better shampoos I've bought in my life didn't really lather well at all. Anyways. This shampoo leaves my hair clean but still moisturized and balanced. My hair looks shinier, I've had less hair fall out it seems when I brush and blow dry and it feels extremely soft. I haven't tried the conditioner yet but this is the perfect combo with my Damage Remedy Daily Conditioner. It cleans and prepares the perfect neutralized base for my Damage Remedy which I think helps it make my conditioner work even better. Bottom line my whole hair and scalp feels way less congested and healthier...and I, and all my friends can really tell the difference. Will definitely continue to buy or use in my routine.

Treatments -Philip B. - Lovin' Leave-In
olivehoney 6/27/2006 10:39:00 AM
I am absolutely loving this product! And I have used a ton of brands. In my cabinet i have tons of leavins including Jonathan Glossing Leave-in, Terax Life Drops, B&B Rinse Out Leavein, Paul Brown Treat Elite, Aveda Currescense...so needless to say whether it's a cream or a spray I am a total leave in conditioning junkie. They finally started carrying Phillip B at my ULTA in Houston and I have been lemming it for years! Decided to buy it and I even think the price is pretty decent considering how much product you get and how concentrated it is. The consistancy is a tiny tiny bit creamy/watery but I love that cause I hate when leaveins are too sticky. The smells is very organic, somewhat tomatoey but I can definitely smell a bit of lemon and chammomile in it. It really smooths out my hair which is baby baby fine but very very full, I have a ton of it, and in Houston's humidity and heat it frizzes very quickly since I have a natural wave which I straighten. This protected my hair from heat styling well and left my hair super soft ans smooth with just the right amount of shine. I even use it as a finishing product to smooth out any layers. It also helped on my "no wash days" as a refresher. It even seems that when I use it between washes I can actually go an extra day longer if I needed to without washing my hair cause it still feels soft and able to style without being greasy at all. So far I'm loving this leavin and will continue to use it an update. Doesn't also hurt that the packaging has those cute little hearts on it too ¢¾ :) he he he.

Moisturizers -MD Formulations - Moisture Defense Antioxidant Spray
olivehoney 6/20/2006 11:52:00 AM
This product is great. This helps keep my skin so healthy and makes me look fresh. Works great as a pre-spray before applying my bare minerals foundation and mineral veil. It really helps the bare escentuals line last all day long on your skin. I just apply my rever-upper then spritz with this and it gives me the perfect healthy base :) Plus you get soooo much product! It seriously will last a long long time. No strong smells and the sprayer sprays evenly too.

Lip Gloss -Becca - glossy lip tint-frappe
olivehoney 3/31/2006 1:46:00 PM
I just recieved my first Becca lip tint in Frappe and let me tell you I love it! It's exactly as everyone described it, a pretty warm milky apricot color that totally just wakes up your entire face. It's not very very pigmented but I love that about it cause it just gives you the right touch of color and makes you look so fresh faced. Everytime I wear this it just wakes my face right up and my friends tell me I look like I'm glowing. Yu'll just love it, and I really doubt that this color would look bad on anyone. It's definitely one of those YLBB colors. Either way it's definitely one of those lipglosses that will always be in my rotation. The packaging is so sleek too and the consistency of the gloss is great, not too sticky at all and doesn't have any awkward scents or tastes. Just plain old GREAT QUALITY gloss!
