Moisturizers -Ponds - Smooth Perfection Complexion [DISCONTINUED]
npeck 3/10/2007 2:07:00 AM
This is my favorite drugstore moisturizer to wear under foundation during the day. I typically use liquid foundation. This makes the foundation go on smoothly. It has a light, airy consistency which is reminiscent of Smashbox's Photo Finish Primer. To be clear: I love the Photo Finish primer, and Smooth Perfection is NOT that. But since a regular supply of Photo Finish is out of my budget, this is the closest product I've found to it at a drugstore price. Also, I have seen it on clearance at two Targets in different areas of the country this month (03/2007), so it may currently be on clearance in your area if you want to try it out!

Concealers -Neutrogena - 3-in-1 Concealer for Eyes
npeck 3/10/2007 1:57:00 AM
This is my favorite under-eye concealer. It blends well- it's not heavy coverage, but it's enough and I like that (because I like a more natural, no-make-up-on look). The eye cream and SPF in it make it a DEFINITE product to try! I have the Medium shade, even though in make-up I usually wear a Fair-to-Medium shade, so the product shades may run a bit on the light side. (To be fair, I also prefer not to pick a light-ish shade for undereye concealer anyway, as I don't want that part of my face to look highlighted.)

Foundations -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Glow Sheers SPF 30
npeck 3/10/2007 1:46:00 AM
This is a decent tinted moisturizer. I like Healthy Enhancer a lot better, though. Like other reviewers, I have trouble getting the product to spread evenly. It also does not have enough coverage for my liking (it actually seems to have less coverage for me than Healthy Enhancer). On the other hand, I've found that it works very well under a light buffing of Bare Minerals foundation. I'm not a huge minerals fan, so I don't use them very often. I've tried using other foundations under the minerals, and so far, the Glow Sheer seems the best. My skins ends up looking very even-toned yet glowy all day. I wouldn't repurchase the Glow Sheers just for this reason, but it will be a good way to use up the tube already purchased.

Brows -Maybelline - Brow Styling Gel [DISCONTINUED]
npeck 3/9/2007 10:45:00 PM
This is a brow staple IMO. I wear this every day and have repurchased several times. It just adds a touch of color with a good amount of control. I like it better than just using a clear brow styler, because it just gives my brows a polished, crisp look with the extra color boost. My only complaint is that, if I'm rushed, occassionally I will "miss" a little bit with the mascara-like brush and get the gel on my skin. However, this happens with any gel brow styler. With a drugstore pricetag, this is a great product!

Polishes -OPI - Lincoln Park After Dark
npeck 3/9/2007 10:37:00 PM
This color is PERFECT for the current dark-purple nail trends. It is a multi-dimentional, dark purple with a little shimmer to it. I have gotten several compliments from people when I wear it, including from a mom whose teenage daughter wanted to wear the black polish trend. Mom said that she didn't like her daughter wearing black, but that this deep purple was a beautiful compromise.

Misc Beauty Tools -Gillette - Venus Breeze
npeck 3/9/2007 10:33:00 PM
I bought this razor on sale at Target, barely noticing that it had "shave gel bars." So far, I like it better than any other razor I've used (including other Venus types). With the gel bars, I shaved my legs faster than ever. The razor states that you do not need to use soap or shaving foam with it; at first, I didn't trust this claim, so I used additional soap. But not only would I say that you don't need extra soap, I would recommend NOT using additional soap because it is too much. The gel bars are perfect. Like another reviewer commented, the consistency when wet is sorta gel-ish (I'm sorry, but the best thing I can compare it to would be a non-sticky lubricant). I tend to get bumps from shaving, but the gel bars + razor did not give me any bumps and in fact, was better than really good shaving gels I've tried. The major drawback is the price; recommend trying to find sales.

Lipstick -NARS - Tanganyka
npeck 10/3/2006 5:54:00 AM
This is a beautiful sheer plum color on me (NW20). The color, at its full intensity, doesn't stay on very long; however, even when it faded, I felt like I had a plummy stain on. I've never been disappointed with a NARS lipstick, which is so rare.

Lipstick -NARS - Catfight
npeck 10/3/2006 5:50:00 AM
Catfight is a gentle pink with a slight blue undertone (IMO). NW20 with brown hair, green eyes. It provides that perfect naughty-but-nice look- pink, pouty lips.

Lipstick -MAC - Overload

This color looks too orange on me (NW20). I think it's the "cinnamon" part of the description.

Moisturizers -Philosophy - Hope in a Bottle
npeck 3/24/2006 4:52:00 AM
This was just okay for me. I agree with a previous reviewer- I have combo/oily skin, and somehow this moisturizer made my skin feel dry. Even if you couch it as more of a "treatment" than a "moisturizer," I feel that it still isn't great. If I'm going to spend that much on an acne etc. treatment, I expect it to produce consistent results with time. I really did not see much difference between using this product and not using it. While I am crazy about Philosophy body care products, I have not been as impressed with their skincare. I recently started using Bioelements skincare and it has made a huge difference in my complexion.

Treatments (Eye) -Bioelements - Multi-Task Eye Creme
npeck 3/24/2006 4:43:00 AM
I use this eye cream for early wrinkles around my eyes and, mainly, dark circles. For those purposes, I love it- it's the most effective eye cream I've ever tried. After about a week and a half of using it, I had this special moment when I looked in the mirror and realized that I hadn't used my undereye concealer (previously something I wouldn't leave the house without). The area under my eyes looks much more even-toned, less bruised.

Scrubs -Bioelements - Pumice Peel
npeck 3/24/2006 4:36:00 AM
This product makes my skin feel as smooth as glass. It takes a lot of self-control for me not to use it too frequently. I bought Olay's microdermabrasion system, and I really liked that, but I actually like pumice peel better. One reason is that it seems to be much more gentle and comfortable on my skin, rather than the burning/stripping sensation of Olay's.

Cleansers -Bioelements - Decongestant Cleanser
npeck 3/24/2006 4:32:00 AM
After only a week of using this product, I noticed a remarkable difference in my complexion. I've had it for a couple of months now, and it's only about half gone. My pores and skin tone look so much better! Thanks to Bioelements, for the first time I feel like I have "make-up optional" skin (term probably copyrighted by Philosophy). BTW, I LOVE the fragrance.
