Stick -Vichy - Dermablend Ultra Corrective Cream Stick

I use this as a concealer underneath my eyes to cover my dark circles. I wouldn't use this on my face as a foundation as it's very thick and I don't use MU on face anyway. This products is thick, works well as a concealer or a spot cover but as the colour options are limited it would be difficult imo to find a good colour match to use it a spot cover unless you'd use it to blend with something else. I'm still using it (that's why I gave it 3 lippies) but has no intention of buying it again. If you are in a jam, buy it but as a concealer and never cover your whole face with it. I blend it under my eyes really well and add YSL touch eclat to take the edge away. As soon as I find something better, I'll throw it away! Mine is opalin 12, which is quite light for my light to medium olive skin but that was the best match.

Concealers -Yves Saint Laurent - Touche Eclat No 2

Yes,please. An HG for years. Tried many others without satisfaction. Perfect for my light to medium olive skin tone. A top notch products. Very glam presentation. I panic when I don't have a spare! Even with the chemical laden ingredient list, well worth the compromise. Need need need. Recommend. Strongly.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Dead Sea The miraculous Source, Malki
rated 1 of 5
ninjalips 3/20/2011 3:54:00 PM

Because I'm totally impressed with Malki black mud soap I wanted to try their natural mineral body lotion. Not good. Ingredient list was short which is always a plus for me although it had perfume. Actually it didn't cause a reaction. It's just not a good moisturiser. It feels very rich upon application then kind of disappears leaving behind a clammy feeling. hard to explain but certainly not pleasant. I tried it as a hand cream with same results. Feels like it's hydrating but a few minutes later, still parched. Well, can't find an HG every day, eh? And no, I won't repurchase. Ingredients; aqua, glycerin, vegetable glycerides, butyrospermum parkii, maris sal, cera alba, papaver oriental, panthenol, parfum

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Dead Sea Spa Magik Aligmud Active Seaweed Mask
rated 4 of 5
ninjalips 3/20/2011 3:41:00 PM

Results are great. Finding out how much product to use is a bit tricky. But when you do it's lovely. Better than most masks I tried. Soft, clean skin. Can be messy but really worth it. Best to use bottled mineral water like Volvic or Evian in my experience as you avoid the chlorine in the tap water. Recommended. Bought it many times and will continue.

Lip Treatments -Dr. Hauschka - Lip Balm - pot
rated 5 of 5
ninjalips 3/20/2011 3:34:00 PM

I love this Dr.H lip balm. Although I'm not crazy about the pot version the stick didn't work as well. I like to massage this balm at night for a few minutes and I do think that it lessens the tiny lip lines that can form around lips. it plumps lips as well therefore is great to use before applying lipstick, balm, wait, blot, colour. One negative for me is the lavenderish smell as I despise lavender smell. There's no lavender that I can see in the ingredient list but there we go. Still, great product, a staple for me, even with the smell, the effects are too good to stop using it. It also lasts a long even with daily generous use. Recommended.

Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Moisturizing Lotion
rated 2 of 5
ninjalips 3/20/2011 3:23:00 PM

'Blah' lotion, caused a rash on my face, sits on top without getting absorbed, not good for sensitive skin, don't get the hype, trying to finish it as a foot/massage cream, wouldn't buy again for sure.

Lip Liners -Shiseido - smoothing lip pencil in BE701
rated 4 of 5
ninjalips 3/20/2011 3:20:00 PM

I bought this to replace my Mac Spice liner as it's a very close, neutral colour. Shiseido lip pencil doesn't have many ingredients, didn't irritate my throat--which is an issue for me with lip products--has a diffuser/blender kind of brush at the other end of the pencil which I personally didn't find useful but it's a good brush especially to correct small mistakes in application. I use this liner even when I use red lipstick as I'm not a fan of perfectly applied reds with a red line. Too contrived and harsh. One down side of this product is that it doesn't last as long as Mac does and there's the nuisance of sharpening it quite often, every couple of uses. It's not cheap for a lip liner but the staying power is good and although it's not as durable as the Mac, still lasts a while. I would buy it again and I recommend it for people who are after a neutral colour that would be compatible with different skin tones. For reference, I have light to medium olive skin tone with dark eyes and eyebrows.

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Tom's of Maine
rated 4 of 5
ninjalips 3/20/2011 3:08:00 PM

This is a natural roll-on deodorant in calendula scent which is not so much a scent but light and refreshing. It comes in a 88.7 ml roll-on tube and I use it forever, it lasts a long while. It's very effective as a deodorant and it doesn't have aluminium to block pores for anti-perspirant effect. I haven't been using the traditional anti-perspirants for many years now and I can say the difference is huge. I feel fresh and lightly scented rather than doused on with chemicals. I recommend it. Any roll-on that is based on mostly natural properties would be miles better than the chemical ones anyway but this particular one is a good place to start. Ingredients; propylene glycol, aqua, aloe barbadensis, hamamelis virginiana, zinc ricinoleate, glyceryl laurate, zinz citate, hectorite, chamomilla recutita, coriandrum sativum, natural parfum, cymbopogon schoenanthus, citral, limonene, geraniol, linalool, citronellol, amyl cinnamal

Skincare - Face -Trilogy - Rosehip Oil
rated 5 of 5
ninjalips 3/20/2011 2:54:00 PM

I've been using this little bottle---and many more before that---for a few years now. It's an effective anti-aging serum, easy to layer underneath other oils or richer creams, refreshingly light to use on its own in summer, dropper bottle is very hygienic, the price is what you'd expect from a quality product and one bottle lasts me around two months with once, sometimes twice daily use. I tried a few other rose hip oils but I think Trilogy is superior quality and the results you get are much better as well. It's great to help with those little lines around your eyes. I put it on a slightly damp face after spraying my skin with my Avene thermal water to preserve the moisture and don't always need to hydrate after that. I strongly recommend it especially for sensitive skin like mine which reacts to many anti-aging serums and creams.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - green baby organic baby oil
rated 4 of 5
ninjalips 3/20/2011 2:44:00 PM

Green baby baby oil is a lovely product for massage. It's free of all the nasty chemicals, has a distinctive but not unpleasant smell. A little goes a long way. It's great to massage legs and calves especially after lots of exercise. Simple product, good results. I even tried it on my face. My super sensitive skin didn't react--shockingly--but it's best suited I think for the body as it's a little on the greasy side. A great alternative to mineral oil based baby oil. The bottle allows a little of the product to be dispensed each time which is great as the less is more. ingredients;sunflower oil, wheatgerm seed oil, chamomile flower oil.

Mascara -Collection 2000 - colour lash
rated 4 of 5
ninjalips 3/20/2011 2:16:00 PM

Great mascara, very cheap, nice minimalist packaging, always available in Superdrug. This mascara is clear, it defines and conditions lashes without depositing any colour. The tube says clear 11. I've been using it for a while. I have very long, dark lashes and don't like to use mascara as it looks OTT most of the time and I also hate removing it. This mascara gives me a bit of shine and separation and definition without giving me a spider look. It especially looks great with a bit of pinkish blusher and a golden or c;ear gloss. You need to put at least two layers as it's rather light. I always have one spare in my drawer.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Allergenics Emollient Cream
rated 5 of 5
ninjalips 3/20/2011 2:04:00 PM

Pros; It works wonders for sensitive skin or skin that's sensitised by harsh products or treatments It's natural without petro-chemicals or parabens or fragrance It's cheap and the most economical cream I've ever used It can be used on face, hands, elbows, feet and around eyes even by very sensitive people or contact lens wearers. --I'm one of those!-- It moisturises without grease and doesn't get sticky It has the ingredient list on the tube--a definite plus for me for future reference-- It's great to carry in your bag as a hand cream, dries quick Cons; It doesn't look fancy although I quite like the simple, dermatological kind of packaging It may be hard to find, I get mine from health store Final note; Strongly recommended for sensitive people and for people who seek natural alternatives. I've been buying it for many years.

Toners -Eucerin - Dermo Purifyer
rated 4 of 5
ninjalips 3/20/2011 1:39:00 PM

This is a decent cleanser with salicylic acid and no perfume. It has very few ingredients which is great for me as I have super sensitive skin. I'm currently not using it due to my skin being very irritated. Although this product has a potential to sensitise skin I don't believe that was the cause of my problems, hence the good review. I've used it twice a day which in retrospect wasn't such a fine idea. It helped the blackheads on my nose which was the reason I've purchased it. It has SLS but didn't cause me problems like allergies or dryness. My skin type is dry/combo/very sensitive with blackheads on the nose that are very resistant. I don't wear MU on my face rather than the occasional blusher so I don't know its potential as a MU remover although it says it does and it cleanses well. I recommend to use it at night before a heavy night treatment as it deep cleanses without drying. I'll go back to it once I get my skin back to shape. Good price, good cleanser, caution and baby steps for sensitive people. Ingredients; aqua, sodium cocoamphoacetate, propylene glycol, sodium lareth sulfate, citric acid, sodium benzoate, salicylic acid, sodium chloride

Brows -Shiseido - Natural Eyebrow Pencil in Natural Black
rated 4 of 5
ninjalips 3/20/2011 1:25:00 PM

It's good not as great as my Giorgio Armani brow pencil but close. Also it's Shiseido! Yes, I'm silly like that. It's a soft black colour that blends well with my dark brown brows. It's not harsh at all as some black brow pencils could be. I also like to mix it with another, sometimes even dark brown pencil like Armani no2 if I'm going for a -thicker/stronger-night-brow look or simply add some No7 Beautiful Brows pencil in black which is more pigmented than the Shiseido. My signature look is dark/thick brows with red lips, a bit of concealer and no eye make-up. This brow pencil is a nice compliment for this kind of look and it's versatile--with a lighter hand can be adjusted to a more day time look. For reference, I have light to medium olive skin tone and dark brown eyes
