Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - sea island cotton

I love how this smells -- great for the office or lazy days at home. I don't like how poorly it lasts, though. I use shower gel, lotion, body spray and EDT, and it's gone within a few hours. A lot of layering for little return. It smells so good, though! I'm a sucker. I think I'll have to repurchase anyway. Please, please B&BW, reformulate this so it lasts!
This color is just lovely. It perks up my pale complexion, but doesn't look too makeup-y. Dallas provides a nice, natural flush -- no need for a seperate bronzer.
Loose Powders -Dermablend - Setting Powder (loose & pressed)
ms_jillian_leigh 1/7/2008 1:57:00 PM
I know it's "just talc," but this setting powder works better for me than anything else that I've tried. Sets makeup perfectly (and I don't use other Dermablend products) and keeps me matte through the day. I'm very fair, but have no issue with the color, or lack thereof. I'm hooked.
This is a nice scent, but I'm not wowed. I wear it to work or other places where I want to smell nice, but not be obtrusive. I enjoy it, but doubt I'll repurchase.
Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF15

I love this for my combination, acne-prone skin. Keeps me hydrated and isn't too greasy. I don't understand the issue with it stinging or tasting bad -- how hard is it not to put your lotion in your eyes or mouth?! ;) This is a definite HG for me. I can't believe it hasn't been better received.
I needed to hide a tattoo for a wedding that I was in and had purchased Mehron's Tattoo cover kit -- only to find, a few days before the wedding, that it didn't work nearly as well as I had hoped it would. I ran out to the Dermablend counter, hoping I could score some of the leg and body cover, which is marketed as a product that is strong enough to hide tats. Unfortunately for me, they were sold out. The SA there advised me to try the Quick Fix concealer and after trying a little out in the store, I purchased. Though it took several layers of the concealer, then setting powder, it was virtually invisible. Then a layer of my regular foundation on top, and it was perfect! This isn't a product that I'd use every day, but I would absolutely repurchase if I have to hide my ink for another formal event. Since it covered so well, I imagine it would be a great concealer for imperfections. The trick is to apply many light layers, otherwise it gets cakey. Highly recommend.
Eyeliner -Rimmel - Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil in Jet Black
ms_jillian_leigh 12/6/2007 4:18:00 PM
This is an awesome liner! Very dramatic and good for a smudged, smoky eye. I love that it's a true, vibrant black. I haven't found the staying power to be any better or worse than other eye pencils I've used. I'll usually touch this up in the late afternoon, but really -- how hard is that? You can't beat this product for the $$.
Tinted Moisturizer -Sonia Kashuk - Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15

Love this for my "good skin" days. It has surprisingly good coverage, evens out my skin tone nicely and isn't too greasy. If I'm broken out or have an event to attend, I'll go with regular foundation, but I love this for daytime, casual wear. So far, I haven't had trouble with the pump -- hopefully that won't crop up. I find this looks best when applied with a sponge and patted on the face. Of course, you use more product this way, but I do find the result significantly better. Regardless, it's less than 1/2 the cost of other TMs, so I don't mind if I go through it a little faster. A little concealer for under the eyes, some powder on top to set and I'm good to go! I never thought I'd be this happy with a TM!
This has been an absolute godsend for the ingrowns on my bikini line. True, the smell isn't good -- but it evaporates almost instantly. Yes, it seems expensive, but I'm fortunate enough to be able to purchase it at Harmon for about $10. The results are second to none, and I wouldn't hesitate to pay full price for it if Harmon stops carrying it. I was plauged by painful ingrowns and now I have no problem whatsoever! Also, this is great as a spot treatment for facial acne. I was getting a pesky pimple on my lipline (aren't those the WORST??), and I applied a bit of Tend Skin to it with a qtip, and by morning, it was gone. Amazing stuff. I couldn't love it more.
I really think that this is one of the most beautiful scents around -- and it's certainly the best of the Burberrys. It's feminine without being cloying, hit the perfect balance between fruity and floral and walks the line between comfy and sexy. The staying power is impressive, but it's not a "bowl you over" smell. It's neither a young or an old scent. I can't think of an occasion where this wouldn't be an appropriate choice. This is timeless and gorgeous.
I used this on and off for awhile, but as I'm aging, it just doens't cut it for me anymore. It doesn't do much to blot my oily Tzone, but does everyting to accentuate my drier patches. It also settles into pores and fine lines. For younger skin, I think this is a fine product, but as I'm rapidly approaching 30, it's clearly time to move on.
Pressed Powders -Revlon - Colorstay Pressed Powder with SoftFlex
ms_jillian_leigh 10/31/2007 9:39:00 AM
I LOVE this powder. I've been using ColorStay Foundation for oily/combo skin in Buff for about the past year -- after trying much more high-end products, and have been thrilled. I don't know why I didn't think it try the powder before, but I picked it up (Light) at CVS on one of their bogo specials. This product goes on smoothly, doesn't feel heavy on my face and gives me an absolutely flawless finish. As with previous posters, I'd recommend using this with a fluffy brush as opposed to the little puff they give you. This is definitely my HG powder! UPDATE: I think I jumped the gun with this review.... While I was initially happy with the reuslts the powder gave, I think it's not ultimately for me. It settles in my pores and doesn't do as good of a job of keeping me matte as I had hoped. My search for the right powder continues....
This is, hands down, my HG scent for fall/winter. I purchased this when it was introduced in 2001, and it quickly became my signature scent. I'm fickle when it comes to perfumes, so when the bottle ran out, I had moved on to other things -- but always LOVED Coco Mademoiselle. Recently, my parents went on a cruise, and I was delighted when my mom brought me back a huge bottle of this from a duty-free shop. She confessed that it was always her favorite fragrance on me. As the weather is getting cooler, I've been wearing this more and more, and I couldn't be happier. The staying power is fabulous and the scent itself is just divine. I spray sparingly for the office and more liberally at night, and the compliments keep rolling in. This is a pretty, classy scent with a bit of an edge. I really couldn't love it more!
Mascara -New York Color - Curling Mascara Marooned
ms_jillian_leigh 10/10/2007 9:16:00 AM
I really like this mascara -- the color definitely brings out the green in my hazel eyes. I don't have much faith in "curling mascaras" in general, but this one isn't bad. I'm not ready to throw away my eyelash curler, but the shape of the brush does help to accentuate and hold some curl. I'm blessed with long, thick lashes, so the lack of lengthening or volumizing properties doesn't really bother me. This is a good, solid product. Not fantastic or HG, but a very good buy for the money.
I just got this for my birthday, and I really like it a lot. It's not HG, but it's a lovely scent that I've gotten a ton of compliments on, from men and women alike. Staying power is good, too -- people still tell me I smell great hours after application. All in all, I'm very glad to add this one to my fragrance wardrobe.
