Shampoo -LUSH - NEW! Hair
mllebovary 2/8/2008 3:48:00 PM
Love this! I love the way it smells. I love the the way it makes my hair feel. I love that is it so easy & convenient to travel with. I love that it doubles as a body wash/soap bar. I love that it doesn't affect my colo-treated hair. I have been using it for years, and don't plan to stop!

Eyeliner -Chanel - double eyeliner compact/la ligne de Chanel (noir et marine)
mllebovary 2/8/2008 12:13:00 AM
Have been using this for years--I actually had the precursor which had four colors. I adore cake liner and will never use anything! But this compact is the best I"ve used by far. The black is that perfect kohl black, and both colors go on so smoothly. Beats out the MAC creme liner any day.

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH - Charity Pot
mllebovary 2/6/2008 7:31:00 PM
I love LUSH and I'm always eager to try new things there that I haven't tried before. I'm also a moisturizer whore. So when I saw this, I got extremely excited. Let me tell you--I love this stuff!! Big bonuses: 100% of the proceeds go to worthy causes! I didn't find the scent too strong, though my husband did. I def. smell the almond oil. Nice and thick--and doesn't wear off your hands too fast, if you use it as hand lotion.

Treatments (Eye) -Clarins - Skin-Smoothing Eye Mask
mllebovary 2/6/2008 4:05:00 PM
Hated this! I have really sensitive skin, and I bought this on a reccomendation at my local Clarin's counter (I use all their sensitive skin products--which I adore). First, it felt tight, which was fine. Then it started to burn. That's when I took it off. My eyes were puffy and red for a while, but that went away after about 10 minutes and with the help of water & moisturizer. Anyway, bottom line is never again!

Polishes -Chanel - Le Vernis Nail Colour in Vamp #18
mllebovary 2/6/2008 4:01:00 PM
I love this! I still wear it after all these years--it will always be my absolute favorite nail color :) It goes on beautifully, has a great depth of color, and is so unique looking (despite all the imitators out there now). I still have people who stop me and ask "Is that vamp on your nails?" No joke! I had a bartender do it to me just last week.

Fragrances -Comme des Garcons - Incense Series Avignon
mllebovary 2/3/2008 11:56:00 PM
I love CdG Series 3, but especilly this scent. An incense-obsessive, it's smells just like my grandmother's eastern orthodox church (frankinscense & myrrh). Also, the packaging is minimal, so not a lot of waste for the environmentally conscious. The big downside is that it lasts maybe 1-2 hours on me---no staying power. I'm considering decanting some & mixing it into a non-fragranced body lotion to see if I can't get more staying power that way.

Scrubs -The Body Shop - Tea Tree Facial Scrub
mllebovary 1/21/2008 12:01:00 PM
Ugh! Hated it! Too harsh---totally dried me out, and the grains felt like sandpaper on my skin. I'm sticking with Clarins. However: It did use it on my feet when I couldn't on my face---fabulous! I really enjoyed it during my home pedicure. Made my feet look and smell fresh! BOTTOM LINE: a flop for the face, fantastic for the FEET!

Cleansers -Clarins - One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser
mllebovary 1/21/2008 11:57:00 AM
I love this stuff---I have sensitive skin, and this is one exfoliator that doesn't make me red and blochy. I only use it once a week, though, but have occasionally used it more often when I feel like it. Have been using it for years, and will continue to do so!

Mascara -Chanel - Inimitable Mascara Multi-Dimensionnel
mllebovary 1/21/2008 11:53:00 AM
I AM A MASCARA JUNKIE. If I was stranded on a desert island, the three prodcuts I'd bring with me are mascara, lip balm and sunscreen. That being said, I have tried probably 3/4 of the mascaras out there in the 15 years I've been wearing the stuff. Everything from Maybelline to Lancome to L'Oreal to Dior. One thing I've noticed is that no single mascara works on everyone--my best friend swears by Lancome's mascaras, I can't stand the stuff. Thismay explain the mixed reviews of Inimitable. With these two premises in mind, I have to say I adore this mascara! I didn't at first. I bought my first tube for my wedding in 2006. I was going for a smoky look, complete with Shu Umeura false lashes, and though it was only OK. In the end I used my constant, my standard, L'Oreal's Voluminous. HOWEVER, about 3 months later, I ran out of the Voluminous. Before going back to the Inimitable, I first turned to a tube of Lancome I had laying around and hated it. Being that I had paid $30+ for this stuff, I decided it would be wasteful not to at least give it a second shot. Thank god I did-- I loved it! Here's what I found: a) It never runs under my bottom lashes when the rain is splashing towards me--though a good cry will make any mascara go south---this one included. b) It never clumps up--I don't even use a lash/eyebrow brush after application. CAVEAT: But this only works if you wipe the brush on the to lip of the tube as you're pulling the wand out. Otherwise it too much ends up on the bristles and it does clump. c) The cost is prohibitive. If you don't love mascara---a lot---I doubt you're going to give this one a whirl. d) It seems to dry out quicker than other mascaras. Not sure why. Overall, a 4 out of 5. I will continue to purchase it, but because of the cost and "drying out" factor, I still keep the Voluminous close by!
