Fragrances -Burberry - Brit Sheer
mladyd 9/27/2007 2:54:00 PM
Despite the name this is not at all similar to Burberry Brit and I'm surprised they pretend it is by giving it the same name. This is a fruity concoction that reminds me more of Gucci Envy Me than Brit. I get a blast of Pineapple and Litchi followed by Peony then finally a light vanilla drydown. I was really hoping for a variation of Brit, in the way Burberry Summer was a variation of Burberry Classic, but that is not the case. It does last several hours on me but I really have to put nose-to-skin to smell it. No silliage. Very clean. The bottle is pretty, the same design as Brit but in frosted pink.

Fragrances -Hermes - 24, Faubourg Eau Delicate

I've been wearing this for 3 days straight. When I first got it I tested it out by spraying it on my wrists. At first I didn't like it, but after a couple minutes on my skin it was wonderful. I kept getting whiffs that were very fresh and natural smelling. It sometimes takes my nose awhile to adjust to a new scent so this didn't worry me. The second day I applied it the way I do most other scents...basically spraying it all over. I wasn't able to smell as much freshness and even noticed something a bit an off, almost dirty. Today I discovered that this smells lovely in my hair and on my wrists, but spraying it anywhere near my chest brings out a horrible fecal note. I guess it's how it mixes with my natural body oils and sweat that brings out the worst. I actually had to change my shirt and wash that area...it was that bad. Right now it's only on my wrists and I'm once again getting the lovely fresh smell I did the first day. Maybe in the cooler months this wont be a problem but for now I will be careful how I apply it and only spray on areas not covered by clothing.

Conditioner -TRESemme - Smooth and Silky Vitamin H and Silk Proteins
mladyd 7/6/2007 2:10:00 PM
I bought the shampoo and conditioner and I'm thrilled with both! The shampoo lathers well and rinses easily. Since I always follow up with a conditioner I have no way of knowing what my hair is like with the shampoo on it's own. The conditioner works better than some deep conditioners I have tried, in much less time! Both products have a light scent (melons??) that is innocuous enough not to bother me (I usually like unscented products). The bottle are huge and the $$ value is good. This product seems to be new and I hope it sticks around long enough for me to repurchase, I have had problems with that in the past and it's annoying to find a formula you like only to find it's been replaced with something "new and improved".

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Dream Angels Heavenly

I've gotten into the habit of spraying this on before I go to bed because there is something cozy and comforting about it. It's a great scent for daytime too, and it's my daughters #2 fragrance. It's a little powdery, a little sweet, and a litte spicy...but never hit's you over the head with any particular note. I worried at first that it would morph into "feminine hygiene" territory like so many powder-fresh scents do, but this stays far away from that, thank goodness. I know this is an overly-popular scent but I can understand why. I have a little .25oz bottle now, (I LOVE THIS SIZE) and I'll probably pick up another one when this is gone.

Fragrances -Lancome - Tropiques

I bought a decant of this because I liked the sound of description: The juice is a fruity floral, which opens on notes of cranberry, raspberry and kumquat. The heart is a blend of mango flower, jasmine and blackberry, on a base of Tonka bean and vanilla.I was a bit worried about the inclusion of vanilla here because it sounded so out of place among the fruit notes, but overall this develops pretty well on the skin. It starts out very fruity (think bowl of ripe fruit) but when it dried down it is eerily reminiscent of drydown of my Chanel Allure Body Mist. Seriously, I pick up the same citrus-vanilla combo in both. I've only seen pictures of the bottle and it looks very nice, but I will make due with my generous decant and I'll probably use it up before the end of summer, enjoying it as I go then not giving it another thought once it's gone.

Fragrances -Lanvin - Eclat D'Arpege

I put this in the #2 spot in the 2007 top 25 so I figured I should write a review. I bought this fragrance unsniffed due to the other reviews comparing it to D&G Light Blue, which is a fragrance I wanted to love but couldn't. This turned out to be exactly what I hoped for. It is a fresh, bright scent that isn't at all sharp. It's also a bit warm, where Light Blue was more astringent. Because it does smell "appley" it's great to wear spring thru fall, and even in the winter as a pick-me-up. Although it is a fruity floral, but the fruits and florals are unique among most of todays scents. I'd be tempted to make this my signature scent if I didn't love variety. As it stands now it just holds a very special place in my collection, and may end up being the first full bottle I use up....and I will DEFINITELY replace it! The only downside is it's lasting power, but it really is no less than most fragrances of this type (clean/fresh/fruity) so I can't complain too much.

Fragrances -Dolce & Gabbana - The One
mladyd 3/28/2007 9:45:00 PM
I burned through my decant in less than a week then ordered a bottle. There is something about this scent that really speaks to me. I usually have a hard time with all things "sweet" but this one doesn't turn on me the way most of the other sweet scents do. It's settles down nicely on my skin and has the most interesting fruity notes I've encountered in a long time. I think its the plum that makes this so special. For me it replaces things like L'Instant and Mira Bai, both great fragrances but nothing compared to The One as far as I'm concerned. I thought I would only wear this as a "dress up" perfume but it's perfectly fine for everyday wearing...I just feel a bit more glammed up than I otherwise would while running errands in my jeans and t-shirts!

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Carlos Santana for women
mladyd 2/28/2007 11:44:00 PM
I just bought this fragrance unsniffed and I'm happy with it so far. It reminds me alot of Jil Sanders Sensations even though the notes are different. It's a soft, slightly musky scent that is sweetened with coconut and chocolate. It's not as sweet as Sensations and doesn't have that "milk and cereal" note but still comes across as smooth and creamy. I prefer this one and although it's not the kind of perfume I usually wear I'm going to keep it around for a full year and see how it works with the different seasons and my ever changing tastes. This is about as gourmand as I get with fragrances and a big change from the citrus/fruity/florals I usually reach for.

Fragrances -Vera Wang - Truly Pink
mladyd 2/14/2007 7:16:00 PM
There is no doubt that this is a Vera Wang fragrance. Although the top notes are different from the original it is very similar in feel. It's soft, a bit soapy, a bit warm, not overly sweet, and not very long lasting. At least not on me. I was hoping for a little more 'sparkle' to make it stand out. Fans of the original may like this for a very slight change of pace but that one didn't work for me either and this one isn't different enough, or special enough, for me to purchase.

Lipstick -Clinique - Colour Surge Lipstick - Pure Posh
mladyd 12/31/2006 6:58:00 PM
This was one I picked up in an ebay haul of GWP size lipsticks. I wasn't sure I this would work for me when I saw it in the tube but I put it on last night with a little gloss on top and WOW! It's a bit more color than I want to wear on a casual, sit around the house day but it is perfect for work or going out. Not really glamorous like red or berry, but eye catching deep rosy color thats just beautiful! I'm fairly pale and this isn't overpowering in the least.

Lipstick -Clinique - Long last Lipstick - Bamboo Pink
mladyd 12/31/2006 6:49:00 PM
I picked up a couple GWP lipsticks on ebay for a song and this was one of them. I would never go out of my way to buy a lipstick described as PINK but this is just beautiful! It's not little girl pink or bright pink but a wonderful shimmery color that really brightens up my face. Others have said it's got a slight metalic caste to it and I think that is what makes this one so special. The texture is great and it feels like a gloss going on but lasts like as long as most lipsticks do. I think this would work well on most people.

Lipstick -Clinique - Butter Shine Lipstick - Delovely
mladyd 12/31/2006 6:41:00 PM
This is my first Butter Shine and I'm really liking it! This is a great color on me, a "my lips but better" kind of thing. It feels really smooth going and the shine looks great. Staying power is above average for a glossy lipstick and even when the shine is gone I still see a slight stain. It's a great everyday color that makes me look put together and polished even when I'm not wearing much makeup.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Orgasm
mladyd 12/31/2006 6:35:00 PM
I was excited about this since I really like Orgasm blush but this disappointed me. It's just boring and doesn't do much for me color wise. I got this as a duo with another color, Tangerine, that I don't care for either. I like BE Buxom lip gloss better so I'll probably swap this one.

Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Lips Lip Gloss in Amber
mladyd 12/31/2006 6:30:00 PM
I got this with the QVC Peacock kit and I'm really impressed! I've only use a few other wand-type lip glosses before and never really liked they way they felt on my lips. This one is different. I guess it's supposed to plump but I haven't noticed that. It feels cool tingly, but not the burning sensation people complain about with most lip plumper's. The smell great, the taste is great, and it has just the right combination of slip and staying power to make it last. This color is pretty neutral and I've used it over other lipsticks I to gloss them up as well. I'm so impressed with this that I've purchased another color (DOLLY) off ebay.

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
mladyd 12/31/2006 6:22:00 PM
I'm not a "band wagon" type of person and up until now I've been using drugstore cosmetics so buying this online, site unseen, was a big departure for me. I gave into the hype and took advantage of the Sephora FF promo to get this and I'm really glad I did. It's a perfect color for me and gives me healthy glow that my other blushes never did. People have complained about the shimmer but apparently thats exactly what I needed to perk up my complexion. My daughter came home from college and saw this in the bath room and put it on, then told me "I don't know what this is but I'm taking it!", so apparently it IS all that! Now I have to buy another one. That's OK, I think it's worth it.
