Bronzers -Physicians Formula - PH Matchmaker Bronzer
missymarissa 10/20/2012 4:44:00 AM
I think this is a great bronzer in the lighter shade! Perfect for winter, I am quite fair during that season. Very natural looking, not orange at all. To me it's almost the shade of a face powder for someone with MAC NC40 skintone maybe? Yes it has some shimmer but it's a quality shimmer if that makes any sense.. very fine not chunky. I always just bought my bronzers from MAC (usually just because I was buying something else there) but I've been using this one a lot more lately!! I think it's better. I love MAC but I think their bronzers are meh. UPDATE: I took a couple lippies off. I decided this makes me look sallow :/

Powder -Physicians Formula - CoverToxTen50 Wrinkle Therapy Face Powder
missymarissa 10/20/2012 4:21:00 AM
I agree with other reviewers that this really doesn't cake up after the 2nd, 3rd, 4th application! Love that because mostly what I use this for is my nose. That is the oiliest part of my face by far and I must use blotting papers followed by a powder touch-ups throught-out the day. How I get this to have a little more staying power is I dust a setting powder over it like E.L.F. HD colorless loose powder (which I always do anyway). This isn't like a wow product for me, doesn't work wonders, but it works for the purpose I use it for and I do like that it's quite sheer and doesn't cake up. If it had more staying power while keeping the sheerness of it I would love it even more.

Liquid -Shiseido - Sun Protection Liquid Foundation SPF 42 PA+++
missymarissa 10/17/2012 1:01:00 AM
Could I possibly be in HG heaven here? I have only had this for 2 days and my skin hasn't looked this good since...ever! I can't tell you how much money I have recently wasted on foundations that are flat out terrible! I just don't know how they could even be hyped about. THIS, however, is actually REALLY good. So many higher end f/ds are priced so high and yet I just don't see the quality. They are drugstore f/ds with a high price tag. You know how you will watch these MU tutorials and the girls all feature a certain foundation, their face is glowing and all, so your like alright I'll give "foundation-X" a shot. You go out and buy "foundation-X". After your done blending, powdering, highlighting ect. you think, "Huh. ..I look kinda crappy". Or maybe that moment doesn't hit you until later in the day. Well, this has mostly been my experience up until this foundation. I think I knew from the moment I smoothed it over the back of my hand this would be a winner. The finish is flawless and I feel very camera ready :) Beautiful matte finish that sinks right into skin without looking cakey whatsoever and staying power like I have never experienced before. And the best part? It still looks natural, like it becomes one with your skin!!!! The only downfall to this is that I could not find one shade that matched me perfectly. What I ended up doing is buying the shades SP60 and SP10 and mixing them. 75.00 later....... I know, I know!! But I was pretty serious about finding a f/d that made me feel pretty and airbrushed again. Turns out the 2 shades blend to make my perfect match! I think for the average person it wouldnt be that hard to find your match in just one foundation, it's just that I have skin that falls right into the middle category of yellow and cool. Plus I think it's nice to have 2 shades for highlighting puposes. But anyway, go out and get your self some samples of this if you're like me and have struggled finding a good foundation. For reference I am NW20, oily, and acne-prone. Hopefully you'll be as wow-ed as I am with this!

Primer/ Corrector -Too Faced - Primed and Poreless Oil Free
missymarissa 10/16/2012 10:04:00 PM
This is just a terrible primer!! The regular Primed and Poreless from Too Faced isn't so bad. Not the best primer I've tried, but not bad... but the "Oil Free" version feels VERY GREASY. Did NOTHING to hide pores, made me break out, didn't keep makeup in place longer, and was hard to spread. One of the worst I've ever tried. It's appalling how much they charge for such a crummy product.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Toasted
missymarissa 10/16/2012 6:58:00 PM
This actually is not a good shade for me! For some reason the color does not suit my eyes. (I have green eyes) I began to realize whenever I wore this eyeshadow I had the kind of day were you look in the mirror and think MEH. I have very fair skin, brown hair and this just doesn't fo anything maybe it just doesn't have enough color for a contrast for me. MAC Mulch applied lightly is a much better everyday shade for me. The formula of this is applies like a dream like all UD shadows, Ill give it that but I really am not a fan of the color.

Makeup Brushes -Sonia Kashuk - Synthetic Flat Top Multipurpose Brush
missymarissa 10/13/2012 11:15:00 PM
This has totally changed the game of foundation for me. You just buff, buff, buff for about 30 seconds (probably half the time I used to spend using a flat paddle brush trying to get an even finish) and you've got a celebrity-status airbrushed face :). This cost me 12.99 in a cute travel set that came with the flat synthetic brush on a shorter handle (which I may prefer over the regular size?), an awesome little lip lining brush, and 2 shadow brushes. Makeup primer -29.00. Foundation -32.00. Perfectly applied foundation -priceless ;) lol

Shampoo -Matrix - Biolage - Color Care Shampoo
missymarissa 10/12/2012 5:44:00 PM
Very suprised about the complaints of this being drying...I'm beginning to wonder if there are 2 separate formulas.. Anyway, I happen to be a real fan of this shampoo. My hair is right where I want it after I shampoo with this and condition with the Biolage Hydrating Balm. I have the whole dry end/ oily roots problem, my hair is colored, fine, and pretty damaged from heat styling. It's definitly a tricky combo because I don't want flat hair yet I need the moisture. With this my hair is noticeably shinier, bouncy, not over-moisturized but not dry either, and it seems to have kept the color tone. Now, the reason I didn't give it 5 lippies is because this has sulfates in it! And sodium chloride! Those 2 things are the most notorious for stripping hair color. I can't figure out why it hasn't dryed my hair or stripped the color, but...it just hasn't! I've tryed many shampoos and I know when one is stripping my hair color. I've been using this for 2 weeks now and my hair definitly would be showing it by now. Makes me nervous to use this because I have always been told to avoid SLS like the plague if you color your hair, but the only thing I can figure is that the content of SLS is very low because this doesn't lather as crazy as other SLS shampoos. And it says something on the back of the bottle about it being a gentle cleanser with a low ph balance. I would feel better if it didn't have those ingredients, but I have to say the proof is in the pudding. My hair looks better. Definitly recommend pairing with the Biolage Hydrating Balm. An added bonus is I have never smelt hair products that smell as good as Biolage. I just love the scent, so light and fresh smelling. Just like hair should smell:) If I use this for a while longer and determine it's safe for my color treated hair I may add a lippie.

Self Tanners -Banana Boat - Summer Color Sunless Lotion Deep Dark
missymarissa 10/9/2012 3:05:00 PM
I have tried just about every self-tanner under the sun ;)... and this one rates mediocre. I love how cheap it is! That's mostly why I bought it. And for the price it's okay. I found myself looking a little orange in the morning and the tan wasn't super even. Pros: It works fast, smell is ok - very tolerable, you do notice a tan, and it's cheap. Cons: the color isn't as natural looking as some and the color gathers in some areas. I ended up mixing some cheap foundation with lotion over the tan to cover up a few places that looked darker than others and after i did that, the tan looked pretty good. But I don't really want to have to do that everytime. Do note, I am pretty pale and while this didn't quite work for me, someone with darker skin may end up with a more natural looking tan.

Lip Treatments -eos - Lip Balm Sphere - Summer Fruit
missymarissa 10/8/2012 3:23:00 AM
This falls into the gimmicky category for me. I probably bought this because the packaging was interesting, but no way does this lip balm moisturize my lips. Very waxy, it just sits on top and i kept having to apply all day without any real satisfaction. Nice taste, it is natural, and the packagings kinda cool but having very dry lips this doesn't cut it. I'll stick with my Sally Hansen overnight lip repair balm.

Loose Powders -E.L.F. - Studio High Definition Powder
missymarissa 10/8/2012 3:15:00 AM
So happy I this was reccommended to me by MUA! Wouldn't have tried it otherwise. Usually I don't do drugstore foundations or powders, but this is just as good as HE finishing powders. You can't beat 6 bucks for a ton of product that is this good. I just lightly dust this over the top of my makeup and it really does create a soft focus. I was pleasantly suprised to find my makeup didnt budge and skin less oily after several hours. This also works great for setting lipstick, you can dust on lips before and/ or after lipstick is on place to keep lipstick from bleeding out of lipline. Really happy I saved money here! Definitly try this :)

Gels/Soaps -Eucerin - Eucerin Shower Oil
missymarissa 9/28/2012 1:56:00 PM
This oil wash is truly wonderful especially if your skin is going through a crisis. It may be just about the only kind of body wash you could use on a rash, excema, or very senstive, dry skin. The smell could throw you off. It smells to me just like castor oil but to some who are use to fruity or floral scents, this is not that. Has no fragrance, SLS, or harsh detergents. It comes out in your palm like straight oil and you don't think it will lather but it does! Not a ton but if your going through a bought of very dry skin you don't want that. Think of it as like your cleansing oil but for your body :) This is one of Eucerin's many great products.

Primer/ Corrector -Sephora - Skin Smoothing Makeup Base
missymarissa 9/28/2012 1:45:00 AM
I never knew what it was like to have makeup "slide off" my face. I have oily/combo skin but I can't really say I have ever had a case of the oilys that bad. Interestingly enough, a few hours after using this primer before I applied my MAC F&B...OH MY LANTA I couldn't believe what was going on. Pores exaggerated and foundation patchy probably from separating on my face. Actually looked like it was going to melt off my face! Real sexy! So I will say the product does not claim it will mattify. But no where on the product description does it say it's for creating a dewy look (aka an "oil slick" to girls that battle excess oil). Thankfully I only had to use it once to know it would never go on my face again. No breakouts have appeared and because I received this as a sample I didn't loose anything. Just want to caution girls with oily skin. If your still thinking about trying this primer, get a sample and wear for a day!

Cleansers -Philosophy - Clear Days Ahead Oil-Free Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment Cleanser
missymarissa 9/5/2012 1:41:00 PM
HG STATUS AT LAST! I am surprised there are no reviews yet on this incredible cleanser!!! I have been searching and searching for a simple acne cleanser that clear pores well but doesn't irritate or strip skin. It's sometimes impossible to find one without sodium lauryl sulfate that has active acne fighting ingredients. This is my perfect cleanser!!! I wasn't sure if it was going to foam or not because a lot of Philosophy's cleansers do not, but to my surprise it foams up quite well! For the foaming agent it contains cocamidopropyl betaine, a natural detergent derived from coconut. This particular ingredient I like in a cleanser because I like a cleanser to be foam and it's the only foaming agent I have found that doesn't dry or irritate my skin. I like the pump package. The smell is divine, very natural with a hint of orange blossom. My skin has been brighter, blemishes have been kept at bay, complexion is less red, and I'm finally healing from the damaging drying cleansers I had been using. Works especially well with my Clarisonic. I am soooo happy with this cleanser I can't say enough good things about it! I will recommend to everyone I know with acne and hope this becomes a best seller from Philosophy so they never discontinue it!

Cleansers -Mario Badescu - Glycolic Foaming Cleanser
missymarissa 9/3/2012 9:39:00 PM
This is too drying. I know it's the sulfates it contains. I also question the amount of glycolic acid it contains. It definitely foams well and removes makeup completely. But I honestly haven't seen much of a difference in my complexion and my skin has been very dry. I hope to swap this.

Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Stung - Lip Plumper
missymarissa 8/14/2012 4:17:00 PM
Didn't really work for me. I actually found that the sting was not that intense compared to Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme. It takes a minute and you definitly "feel" the effects but honestly I didn't see much results. I saw more of a pink tone to my lips but no increased volume. It's very oily so I always wind up wiping it off before I apply lipstick. After wiping, the burn still lasts forever but I just didn't see that my lips looked fuller. For me Lip Injection and LipFusion beat this product. This is mostly full of essential oils so that's good if your looking for something natural but not if you don't care and you just want fuller lips.
