Highlighters -Becca - Gypsy Pressed Shimmer Powder
rated 5 of 5

Gypsy works best as a blush or blush topper for me because I'm so fair. I completely adore this shade - it's basically the equivilent of Wild Orchid creme blush only with ultra fine gold shimmer. I can wear it alone, but for some radiance, I use it along with Wild Orchid. I'll catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror sometimes during the day and be surprised at how glowy my complexion appears. This is a must-have for fair cool toned girls!

Blush -Becca - Cream blush in Wild Orchid
rated 5 of 5
milliegirl 1/9/2008 9:56:00 PM

I love cream blushes for cooler months because my skin gets drier, so I have many from different brands - Bobbi Brown, Stila, Bliss, Clinique, Bloom, NARS. Becca is one of my favorite brands because of the silky, blendable texture, and Wild Orchid has become my favorite shade of all my cream blushes. It's the most flattering to my fair cool toned complexion and mimics my natural flush. I dab any extra on my fingers to my lips and it stains them nicely, as well. To achieve an expecially radiant look, I top Wild Orchid with Gypsy Pressed Shimmer Powder.

Blush -NARS - Torrid

Such a gorgeous coral shade that gives my NC20, BB Sand cheeks the perfect flushed look. It has very fine shimmer that gives me a glow, too. I have this in a duo with Albatross and find they pair wonderfully together for nights on the town, but I use it for every day alone. It takes just a tiny bit on a fluffy brush, too. I simply love this shade!

Lotions/ Creams -Jergens - Shea Butter Cream
rated 5 of 5
milliegirl 11/19/2007 10:51:00 AM

I love, love, love this body cream. It's as nice as any of the Body Shop or Bath & Body Works body butters, and I'm a big fan of those, as well. The scent reminds me of the heavenly BBW Mega Body Butter, which is tropical, slightly cocoa, but not overtly floral or fruity, to me. Well, no need to get that anymore, I'll just keep buying this for about half the price. The best part is it really keeps me moisturized all day.

So, under "would you buy this product again?" why don't they give us the option of "hell yeah!"? :) Edit: I've stopped buying this cream, even though I loved it, because it contains parabens. :( So, I'm still on the search for a great cream without that.

Palettes -Yves Saint Laurent - Love Collection Powder Compact 2007
rated 5 of 5
milliegirl 11/2/2007 2:39:00 PM

This powder comes in the most adorable silver compact with a red heart and the YSL signature on it. It's then tucked into a glamorous red velvet pouch with a puff. Inside the compact is a matte flesh toned powder with a pink shimmery heart in the center, also with the YSL signature. I was expecting it to be all shimmer, but the matte powder surrounding the heart makes a nice face powder that seems to be translucent on my fair complexion. I can swirl both shades together to sweep across my forehead, cheek bones, temples, etc. as a highlighter (the matte tones down the shimmer), or I can single out the pink as a light blush, which goes on more sheerly than it looks like it would, thankfully. Plus I can also use the matte powder alone to take the shine off my nose, chin, etc. It comes with a little powder puff, but I use the Stila #24 duo ended powder brush because I can more precisely pick up what I want.

I really like this product, but it's not as multi-functional as I was hoping. The SA who sold it to me even said I would be able to use it as e/s as well, but this isn't true because it's really only meant for the complexion. Still, it's so pretty and fun to use. I have to admit it ends up being a unique product for me because of the matte/shimmer combo, so I'm giving it a 5-lipstick rating in spite of it not being what I was expecting.

Fragrances -Stella McCartney - Stella Eau de Parfum Roll-On
rated 5 of 5
milliegirl 9/9/2007 4:23:00 PM

I bought this on a whim (even though I've been interested in it before) while standing in line at the checkout counter in Sephora. I'm so glad I did because Stella is just my type of fragrance: a lush rose floral that isn't overpowering but also not whimpy. I gravitate toward florals, like Chance, Fracas and Marc Jacobs, and this is right up there with those for me. The rollerball pen works well because it applies just the right amount and the fragrance goes exactly where you want it. (i.e., not on your chin or over your shoulder on those sleepy mornings when you're not quite with it, yet) It has good staying power, too. I'm being extra careful with mine since people mention the bottle is fragile.

Blush -Avon - Jillian Dempsey All over face powder in Peach Champagne
rated 4 of 5
milliegirl 7/19/2007 8:11:00 PM

I like this powder. No, it doesn't have the illuminating effect of, say, a Smashbox Soft Lights, but it does give a subtle glow. I'm pretty fair complected so it gives me a touch of healthy color with a low-glow effect. Nice for the price.

Lipstick -Yves Saint Laurent - Rouge Pure Shine Sheer Lipstick SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
milliegirl 7/13/2007 12:42:00 PM

I've absolutely fallen in love with this lipstick. I have #6 Beige and it's a gorgeous peachy-beige with pink tones in it. It goes on sheer and creamy with the perfect amount of shimmer. So glam! I like the texture as it has a nice amount of slip and feels moisturizing. I was lucky enough to swap for my tube, but I love it so much I think I would plunk down the $28+ for it.

Mascara -Chanel - Cils a Cils Lash Building Mascara
rated 1 of 5
milliegirl 7/6/2007 12:33:00 PM

Like everyone else has said, this is a disappointing mascara. I think Maybelline Great Lash is better and I'm no fan of that one, either. I've used a sample of this mascara for a few weeks now trying to give it a chance to win me over, but it smudges, flakes and doesn't do much for volumizing or lengthening. It only looks nice for maybe 2-3 hours after application. Thank God I didn't pay for it.

Palettes -Bobbi Brown - Stonewashed Nudes [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
milliegirl 6/28/2007 10:58:00 PM

I'm not sure why people who aren't into taupe e/s are buying this palette and then disappointed it's filled with taupes. Have they not seen photos or didn't look at it in the store? I knew what I was buying so I'm very happy with it. I like the mix of shimmers and mattes and that they apply smoothly, work well together and are all in one set. It's handy for me when I'm rushing to get ready in the a.m. and want an elegant eye look that I don't have to really think about. Sure, I have other taupes but these are too gorgeous to pass up!

Blush -Bobbi Brown - pot rouge for lips and cheeks- stonewashed pink
rated 5 of 5
milliegirl 6/25/2007 12:16:00 PM

This is a peachy-brown lip and cheek product that's the perfect consistency of creaminess for blending without being gooey. I don't really see any pink in this, but it has just enough peach to be gorgeous. In the pot it looks lighter than it applies because it goes on as a lovely peachy shade on my cheeks and a beigey peach when tapped lightly on my lips that doesn't wash me out, miraculously. I usually need my lip and cheek items to be pretty deep toned (like Pink Truffle, which I adore) but this simply gives my lips a little oomph when not applied too thickly. (if it's too thick, then it appears matte and flat on me) Then when it's topped with either clear or peachy gloss my lips transform into sexy starlet lips! I was so pleasantly surprised. The only negative is I don't like the screw-top packing because flip-top is so much easier. I was told by a BB SA that they have plans for changing to flip-tops in the future. I'm MAC NC20, BB Sand with pigmented lips for reference.

Scrubs -Bath and Body Works - Need a Margarita? Citrus Body Scrub
rated 4 of 5
milliegirl 5/3/2007 3:58:00 PM

I really like this scrub. It has a fantastic scent and gets me very smooth. I can't give it a 5, though, because it needs more sugar to keep it from being so wet/oily. I really like how well it leaves my skin moisturized and the scent is so wonderfully citrus-y and summery. Like others have said, be careful not to slip in your shower after using this! I'll definitely buy more of this anyway.

Blush -Smashbox - Blush & Soft Lights Duo - Smashing Aurora / Shimmer
rated 5 of 5
milliegirl 4/30/2007 11:10:00 AM

I love this dusty rose blush/fleshy pink highlighter duo. I swapped for it recently and it gives me a subtle flush and glow and works well on my fair complexion. Quite often I use the Shimmer side over other blushes and as eyeshadow, so it truly is a multi-use product. As I've stated in other SB reviews, I really dislike the screw top packaging, but I'm obsessed with the quality of these powders, so I keep getting more. Definitely swap or buy this duo if you have the opportunity and wear these types of shades well.

Highlighters -Smashbox - Soft Lights - Smashing Tint
rated 5 of 5
milliegirl 4/30/2007 11:02:00 AM

I received a mini of this in a Sephora goody bag and have completely fallen for this powder. I agree with the previous poster: awkward packaging with the screw-top, but the product is amazing as a complexion enhancer/bronzer for us fair gals. It's very glowy, not shimmery, and gives just enough color to make me look healthy. I wear it alone or over blush, depending on my mood. I've noticed it's the exact same shade as the deeper half of my Pop Beauty Beach Babe duo, only perhaps a smidgen more glowy. So if you're looking for a less expensive dupe, check into that.

Palettes -Bobbi Brown - Living Beauty Palette
rated 5 of 5
milliegirl 4/12/2007 12:20:00 PM

I completely agree with the first reviewer - this is a wonderful palette. Every shade works for me (NC20, BB Sand) and I find it very versatile. You can do looks ranging from subtle and polished to more dramatic but still elegant. When I'm in the mood for some shimmer on the eyes, I just add in Stila Starlight, Wheat, or something similar. Retails for $55 US and the total weight of this palette is more than BB Lip & Eye Basics, so not a bad deal, plus there is the added convenience of so many shades in one slim compact. Plus, Sable doubles as an eyebrow powder for me. Great stuff!
