Makeup Brushes -MAC - #187 Duo Fiber Face Brush (Stippling, Skunk Brush)
rated 5 of 5

I find this brush just great for applying MAC's Mineralize Skin Finish pressed powder. It's easy to build product with this brush, but namely, it applies a light dusting evenly and easily, leaving a very natural finish. I didn't like it at first because I felt like it wasn't doing much, but now I think it's one of the best brushes I've ever used. The price was a shock, but I have a feeling #187 will last me forever and that's what matters to me most, because A) I hate throwing things away, and B) I hate having to adjust to new brushes! Love it.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Eye Shadow in Quarry

Very pretty matte violet. Somehow quite similar to MAC Shale, but without the shimmer, making the two a neat pair. Good staying power, like all MAC shadows I've tried. Looks nice with my blue eyes, too.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Bisque

This is a great, neutral pale white champagne. I use it as a base, as a wash, or as a brow highlighter. I thought I hated matte formulas, but this is just lovely. I can always depend on it to add to any look, natural or dramatic.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone blush in Tenderling

Favorite blush for a natural look. Dusty rose, more pink than brown. Very buildable. Great with my neutral yet slightly yellow skintone, blonde hair and blue eyes. Great staying power, too.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eye-Liner Gel in Blitz and Glitz
rated 4 of 5

Soft, charcoal black with slight, barely visible gold flecks. Great for tightlining. A regular for me, for a long time now. Works well with my blonde-haired blue-eyed complexion, whereas most dark liners do not. Sometimes I don't even use mascara when I tightline with this, and it gives a very natural look.

Palettes -Shiseido - Silky Eye Shadow Quad: Lunar Phases (Q9)
rated 2 of 5

Colors: glitter black, matte light pink, sparkly gold and sparkly silver white. Lovely in the pan, not so lovely when applied. Super soft and powdery formula means lots of fallout. Very light pigmentation and not very buildable. Lots of glitter. The black is nice as a liner. Tiny, tiny amount of each color, as most of the compact is dedicated to the applicators and not the product.

Cleansers -Desert Essence - Thoroughly Clean Face Wash with Organic Tea Tree Oil and Awapuhi
rated 1 of 5

Watery but super cleansing. A little goes a long way, and the price is right. Made my combo skin look cleaner and more even almost immediately. The pump is indeed terrible. UPDATE 06/17/09: I completely changed my mind about this product after extended use. I'd never had whiteheads until I used this for a few weeks! Too bad.

Lipstick -MAC - Slimshine - Missy

Nice peach-coral color. Glossy and buildable, but too bright for me to use during the day. For some reason, this deposits color unevenly on my lips, so I take issue with that part of the formula. And I personally don't like slim lipsticks but that's just my personal preference.

Lipstick -MAC - Lollipop Loving - Heatherette
rated 4 of 5

Slightly pink beige with green shimmery undertones. I don't know what happened: I hated this at first because of the green in it, but after two weeks of occasional use, I'm now head over heels for the darn thing. It's pretty and unique at the same time. I wish it weren't LE because LE makes me want to buy several tubes so I can have it for the rest of my life. I guess that marketing strategy is working on me this time. You win, MAC!

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Syrup
rated 2 of 5

Wow. A lovely natural pink-mauve on me. I don't even have to use a mirror because this is like my lips only better (as they say). Nice texture and consistency, not drying (or moisturizing, really). Staying power is limited; you'll eat or drink it off, but whatever. Update 06/17/09: wait, this sometimes looks lilac on me, depending upon the light. Yuck. No longer a fave.

Mascara -Shiseido - The Makeup Advanced Volume Mascara
rated 4 of 5
maylias 4/28/2009 6:18:00 PM

You know, I really like this one. Too bad it's so expensive. No smudging, no flaking, quite waterproof but washes off easily with soap and water. I have thin, sparse lashes and this adds just enough volume to look good, not trampy. I bought the black shade and find it's just dramatic enough for blonde-haired blue-eyed PPP me. I've only had it for a week or so, so we'll see how the formula lasts. UPDATE 06/17/09: Wow. Never smears, lasts forever (I can sleep in it) and the tube is still going strong after two months of use. I can cry, I can sweat, and it won't budge unless I actually rub my eyes a lot. Truly my favorite mascara of all time now.

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
rated 2 of 5
maylias 4/28/2009 6:14:00 PM

The only reason I bought this was because I was mad at UDPP for having such rip-off packaging. Well, the Too Faced version has better packaging, but I have very normal lids and try as I might, this makes absolutely no difference in staying power or creasing, i.e., I still have creasing, and my shadow often doesn't stay on in the crease of my lid for more than a few hours. UDPP was a much more dependable formula.

Pressed Powders -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - Light
rated 4 of 5
maylias 4/28/2009 6:06:00 PM

Lovely light color, almost translucent. Evens my skintone and gives a natural finish. I can't stand foundations or even tinted moisturizers so this is the perfect product for me. I too wish the compact had a mirror. UPDATE 06/19/09: still working great. A bit drying, but I spray with a toner afterwards just to set it and that does the trick. I love the coverage this provides!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Retrospeck (Lustre)
rated 4 of 5

Goldish beige, slightly glittery. Very buildable. I think the name is quite fitting... paired with black liner and red lips, it's a real pin-up color. I haven't had any fallout like other users. Thanks to MAC for the flip-top lid.
