Conditioner -TiGi - Brunette Goddess
mayaari 1/10/2008 12:55:00 PM
I bought this with the Brunette Goddess shampoo as part of a sale at Ulta - both in large bottles with a pump dispenser. I love the way this stuff smells, even if it doesn't always linger in my hair after blowdrying & styling. I have to be careful with how much conditioner I use though (a little under a full pump from the dispenser), since it can weigh my hair down (hair is just above shoulder length now). I'd definitely purchase this again, but I've barely gone through half since I bought this stuff in August, haha.

Shampoo -TiGi - Brunette Goddess
mayaari 1/10/2008 12:51:00 PM
I purchased this with the coordinating conditioner (both large bottles with pumps) during an Ulta sale a few months ago. Even though my hair is naturally black, I color it to a reddish-brown or brown shade. I love the way this stuff smells, like a wonderful cookie or something. It lathers up fairly well, and paired with the conditioner my hair smells so wonderful after styling. I'd purchase this again, but I've barely gone through half the bottle in the past 4 months!

Shampoo -TiGi - Catwalk - Sexed-Up Body Building Shampoo
mayaari 1/10/2008 12:47:00 PM
I already have thick hair, so I use this shampoo more for it's great scent than anything else. I like the fact that the shampoo is pretty light, and lathers up well. It does leave my hair somewhat tangled after rinsing, but if you follow up with the Sexed-Up Conditioner you're good to go. Using both of these products together leaves my hair feeling lightweight and manageable after blowdrying...I just wish the scent lasted a little longer.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Blending Brush
mayaari 1/8/2008 2:58:00 PM
This is probably the worst of the ELF brushes - the picture makes it look rather fluffy, but when I received mine in an order, the bristles looked incredibly rough - and they felt that way when I tried to blend shadow. Tried washing it to see if that would help soften the brush up, to no avail. I guess for $1 it wasn't that big of a loss, just a disappointment.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Eyeliner Brush
mayaari 1/8/2008 2:55:00 PM
I love using this brush to apply powder and cream eyeliners - the brush is stiff, but as long as you use a fairly light hand to apply liner, there really isn't a problem. Seriously can't beat the price of these brushes!

Blush -Everyday Minerals - Email Me
mayaari 1/8/2008 2:43:00 PM
I love using Email me as my everyday blush - it's a very subtle color without too much shimmer, so it's perfect for work. I would definitely buy this again, but with so much blush in the container, I'm not sure I'll need to reorder for a long time! A little goes a long way.

Scrubs -Lumene - Lumene Arctic Touch W/Biominerals Clarifying Mineral Scrub
mayaari 1/8/2008 2:33:00 PM
I like the fact that this scrub is gentle but effective - the little jojoba beads aren't too harsh on the skin, even if you rub quite thoroughly, and the cool sensation is a nice perk that makes it feel like you're really cleaning up your skin! I picked this up at CVS during their Buy 1 Get 1 50% off sale, but even at the normal price (about $10) I could see myself purchasing this again.

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Feria Haircolor
mayaari 12/14/2007 1:18:00 PM
I've been coloring my hair for years, and I'm a faithful Feria user. This is the only drugstore brand that seems to work well on my thick, dark hair. I've only had my hair professionally highlighted/colored a few times in my life, because I can't justify spending $200+ every couple of months when I can spend about $8-9 twice a year and get similar results? I use Chocolate Cherry (#36) most of the time and I love the way it tints my dark hair a lovely wine shade. It's a very subtle color. I also use French Roast (#45) and Brilliant Bordeaux (#56) in the summer. My only complaint is using the conditioner after washing out all the dye - it's so heavy and heavily scented that it gives me a headache, and it lingers for the next couple of days, even after using other shampoos.

Deodorants -Kiehls - Superbly Efficient Anti-Perspirant and Deodorant Cream
mayaari 12/14/2007 12:59:00 PM
I cannot fully explain how much I love this stuff. I've always felt like I sweat more than any normal person should, especially during DC summers. I've tried numerous products over the years (mineral/salt sprays, products overseas that did little else than sting after application, AP gels, aerosols, etc.) Before discovering this product while reading a beauty blog, my most effective combination was using a mineral spray and Arrid aerosol, but even that wore off mid-day and left lots of residue on my clothes. Enter Kiehls - I couldn't believe how well this stuff works! I stayed dry even during the worst parts of my commute (lots of walking, I depend on the Metro and work/live a few blocks away from the stations), and by the end of the day my shirts weren't ruined! I've been using this product since July and I will keep buying it because I love the way it works. I layer it with a scented deodorant, just because the Kiehl's scent is a bit too light for my taste - but I've never been able to buy deodorants based solely on scent before, and now I can. I got my bf to try it at about the same time and this is his HG as well - he's also very sweaty, and after using this he remained drier a lot longer than with any other product. He suffered from severely dry skin under his arms from previous products, and the lotion formula of this product has actually helped to clear that up. He's also really happy that this product doesn't leave a nasty residue on his undershirts (as most other products did, and resulted in the "yellow pits") and his shirts stay in good condition. Love this product. LOVE.

Moisturizers -Eucerin - Redness Relief Soothing Night Creme
mayaari 12/14/2007 12:30:00 PM
After a really bad reaction to a new foundation and/or sudden change in weather recently, my face decided to show signs of eczema and I had dry, red patches of skin on my cheeks and around my eyes. I had to switch all of my skincare items to more sensitive formulas to let my skin heal, and I picked up this item along with the Redness Relief lotion with SPF (for daytime). Initially I didn't see too many changes, but after a few days my skin started to calm down. Thankfully the redness & dry skin went away quickly, but I still use this at night. It feels very gentle on my skin, albeit quite rich - so I only apply it where I know my skin is dry (cheeks, temples), and apply very sparingly on my t-zone. This little pot of lotion will probably last me a while, but I think it'll stay in my sensitive/winter skincare regimen for a while, and if I have any other bad reactions, I know I can use this to soothe and clear my skin.

Treatments -Lumene - Vitamin+ Radiant C Beauty Drops
mayaari 12/14/2007 12:07:00 PM
For a drugstore brand, this product is a little more expensive than what I normally spend, but well worth the price! I loved the matte finish it gave my skin after applying it. Since I already use a moisturizer and primer in the morning before applying makeup, I used this at night, and my skin would feel great in the morning. I had to stop using it about 2 weeks in because my skin had a bad reaction to a foundation I was trying, but I can't wait to use these again once my skin returns to normal! I enjoyed this product so much that I even got my bf to try it, and he loves it as well - he's used it during the AM and PM, and his normally oily skin keeps a matte finish even after a sweaty trip to the gym! I will definitely purchase this again.
