Primer/ Corrector -Cle de Peau - Translucent Corrector for Pores [DISCONTINUED]
makeupnerd 9/23/2004 1:34:00 AM
TOTALLY WORTH IT! (I can't believe I'm saying that, but it IS that good). A creamy, whitish-sheer stick that you dab on your pores and pat to blend. This blows Clinique's instant pore perfector out of the water (and I originally thought that was good) because of: 1) its pore-covering and 2) its mattifying effect (which stays all-day) Drawbacks (which I'm willing to live with) are: 1) the price (yikes!) 2) the consistency and amount given cause it to be used up somewhat quickly 3) the whitish cast, for some skintones. Still, even with those drawbacks, this is a miracle product for those of us with large pores!

Eye Shadow -NARS - Earth Angel Duo
makeupnerd 8/5/2004 11:51:00 AM
Beautiful! Earth Angel is a shimmery olive with a shimmery taupe-y lavendar. Both go on sheer, but buildable, with a softer texture than some of the other NARS duos. I originally thought this duo looked boring when I first saw it on the websites, but it is absolutely beautiful in person!

Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - City Lips Collagen Lip Plumping Treatment

I wasn't expecting this stuff to work, but it totally did. My mom and I both tried it on at Sephora and then gasped at each others' lips in astonishment! It gives better results than Duwop but without the sting. It also has a more of a vaseline lip-balm feel. The only downside is that it's so expensive at $29!

Palettes -Stila - Fierce Femme in Fierce Sage

Beautiful shades in cute packaging. All three e/s are very "antique" and burnished in color and have been well-described here. The blush is matte and pinky-peach in color. The texture is very different from previous Stila stuff- it's almost like applying loose pigments (or like the Chanel quads), the brush picks up and deposits them very easily. A good buy at $30.

Highlighters -Christian Dior - Skinflash
makeupnerd 7/7/2004 11:26:00 PM
This is YSL Touche Eclat finally perfected! Skinflash has more natural colors (though not a lot of them) and heavier coverage than YSL TE, but with the same light texture that does not settle into fine lines. This brightens up my undereye and makes me look totally awake without making me look like I'm wearing concealer. The packaging is also wonderfully luxe- a shiny silver pen, somewhat heavy, with its own velvet pouch. Lovely!

Lipstick -Yves Saint Laurent - Lip Marker

Someone at YSL heard my cries for a natural lip tint color- 001 is IT!! A not-too-dark brown berry, this shade is exactly what my lips used to look like, back in the day. I had a hard time choking down the price ($24 USD), but am now so glad I did, because the color is absolutely beautiful. It also lasts forever (e.g. I wake up and it's still there) and smells fruity. Much better than the Eyeko, Urban Decay, and Sephora ones, in my opinion, as far as color.

Lip Gloss -Bobbi Brown - Tangerine
makeupnerd 7/3/2004 1:13:00 AM
Beautiful milky, slightly corally peach-pink. I originally avoided buying this because the name scared me off, but it's a misnomer. To me, "tangerine" conjurs up a bright harsh orange, but it's not this at all. Instead, it's a very wearable, face-brightening color, perfect for summer.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Eyes Cream Eyeshadow- #192 Envy

LOVE this! A cheaper, cream version of Stila kalo- bright, shimmery green. It goes on sheer and easy to blend. One of those daring colors I wanted to try but wouldn't have bought at a more expensive price!

Fragrances -Demeter - Kahala Blue Hawaii
makeupnerd 6/23/2004 3:13:00 AM
Lives up to its title as a "pick me up" spray. I bought this after that insert in the Sephora catalog started to grow on me. I thought I was over anything that reminded me of Bath and Body Works, but this was a pleasant surprise! It smells of clean, fresh pineapple- not too sharp/ acidic nor too sweet and cloying. A "happy" fragrance!

Lip Gloss -Bobbi Brown - Shimmer Lip Gloss - Rose Sugar
makeupnerd 6/23/2004 3:10:00 AM
Stop the presses- this is IT! This is THE lip gloss color to have as your tried-and-true basic color. Simple, but pretty. It goes on a sheer, shimmery neutral rose and stays on forever. A dependable staple to have in your lipgloss repetoire.

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Songes Quad
makeupnerd 6/9/2004 1:57:00 AM
This is a BEAUTIFUL quad- breathtaking both in the compact and applied on the eyes! The colors are an creamy opal, pale pink, pale peach, and a deep eggplant (all colors are somewhat shimmery). It can be applied to look either clean and light or dark and smokey. And the icing on the cake is the actual quality of the e/s: finely milled to velvety softness and high pigmentation that lasts and lasts. I love this quad!

Blush -Calvin Klein - Cheek Sheen

This product is INCREDIBLE!!! Everything about this product is beautiful- the colors (sheer, shimmery pink and mocha), the consistency (soft and blendable without being greasy at all), the packaging (LOVE the lucite CK packaging)! If you can find this out there, don't hesitate- buy it NOW!

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow - Rose Gold #8
makeupnerd 6/4/2004 4:18:00 AM
Definitely a try-before-you-buy product. On me (Asian, PPP/LLL), this color is pretty, but I can see how it could make other skin tones look like they have a bad case of allergies. Quality, as always, is very good (sheer, buildable color, milled to softness), and the newer clear-top packaging is a definite improvement.

Treatments (Eye) -BeneFit Cosmetics - Ooh la lift!
makeupnerd 6/2/2004 12:08:00 AM
I was actually surprised at how I liked this product. Granted, it wasn't a miracle worker, but it did work in firming my undereye area. The trick I found was to wait a couple of seconds before rubbing it in (as in, dot it on both eyes, close the cap, then rub it in). I especially like it at midday, when I look in the mirror and see all those smile-lines around my eyes. I don't know if I would repurchase at full price, but I would maybe swap for it or buy it off ebay.

Lip Gloss -Bobbi Brown - Melon lip tint w/spf 15
makeupnerd 5/28/2004 4:03:00 AM
These lip tints are great in terms of feel (smooth and thick, a bit minty), but what I really love about them is their color and ease of application (can put it on without looking). Melon is a fun color- a sheer, milky orange. Perfect for spring and summer!
