Lip Treatments -Clinique - Superbalm Raspberry Tint
majanet 1/18/2007 6:24:00 PM
Two words: Lip Crack. It's that addictive. Raspberry gives a great tint to the lips, and it can remedy split, chapped lips in less than a day. Texture is not light, but not greasy (imho). Now it's always in my pocket.

Styling Products -TiGi - Catwalk Root Boost
majanet 11/13/2006 6:46:00 PM
This product is a stylesaver! I have fine hair and a scalp that reacts badly to thickeners. Root Boost has been the key to my hair looking lively and full. No bad smell, and no real buildup problem, though out of habit, I do use a clarifying shampoo every fourth wash.

Lip Liners -MAC - Cremestick Liner - Beurre
majanet 3/16/2006 3:37:00 PM
Wow, what a great liner! I bought as my first real foray into Mac world, and was pleased with the color and finish. Beurre is a warm neutral liner that can provide a solid base for a range of colors for light to medium complexions. The design of the self sharpening pencil is also worth the extra price, imho.

Shampoo -TiGi - Catwalk - Sexed-Up Body Building Shampoo
majanet 3/16/2006 3:34:00 PM
I have fine, wavy hair which I wash every 2-3 days. I bought this product as an alternative to Bb thickening products which were causing allergic reactions. Pluses: Really concentrated formula, so a little goes a long way. Nice feel and texture even before conditioning. No allergic reaction in spite of fragrance. Minuses: Very very fruity scent. I liked it, but would understand if other people didn't. Also, the initial cost can be intimidating. Finally, loved the slim bottle but hated the bottle cap. I packed this for an overseas trip. Leaky leaky leaky. I would buy this again, but hope for a new package.

Hair -TiGi - Catwalk Volumizing Creme
majanet 3/16/2006 3:29:00 PM
I have fine hair with some wave and tend to shampoo every 2-3 days. I tried Catwalk as an alternative to Bb thickening products that were causing allergic reactions. The pluses: no tacky feel, some smoothing and detangling, some fullness, nice quasi-citrusy scent (if you like scents). The minuses - none of the volume if you airdry; curl/wave reduction, no real hold to speak of. If I had the time to do full-boat styling everyday, I might try it again. This is good enough that I will use it until it is gone, rather than immediately try for a swap.

Mascara -Max Factor - Stretch & Separate Mascara
majanet 2/23/2006 5:28:00 PM
Love this formula. Great length, a little more thickness, no clumping. For dramatic lashes, an extra coat later can do the trick. Easy off with all eye makeup removers I have tried, but no smudging in normal wear.

Mascara -Max Factor - Lash Perfection
majanet 2/23/2006 5:25:00 PM
Waah!!! Clumpy, Clumpy, Clumpy. I am a big fan of 2000 Cal and the Stretch formulas, and thought this would work wonders. But no - it was a messy, sticky, clumpy disaster. Even the lash comb couldn't salvage it.

Cleansers -Eucerin - Redness Relief Soothing Cleanser
majanet 2/1/2006 3:35:00 PM
I'm in my second week with the Eucerin cleanser, after some bad experience with the redness-reducing sunblock creme. Application is interesting - you smooth the loose gel over a wet face, then massage. There's no change in the gel (like foaming) - you just keep moving it around your face, and then prepare for some serious rinsing and toweling. I think removing this with a wet clean washcloth might actually be a better and more effective method than simply rinsing, since it can be goopy. So far, it's been ok. I can't say that I see a reduction in redness or an obvious change in skin texture. I'll update in a month.

Moisturizers -Eucerin - Redness Relief Perfecting Lotion with spf 15
majanet 2/1/2006 3:28:00 PM
I was glad to see that this worked for other people; unfortunately it didn't work for me. Let's start with the green. My goodness, it's not simply green, it's chalky. Although I am a frequent user of physical sunblocks (titanium or zinc based), this was the first that really left my face with a chalky cast. While the sublock ingredients are admirable, I'm one of those people whose rosacea is aggravatged by chemical sunscreens - I could feel my face flushing! To add insult to injury, I ended up with a whitehead breakout. The dispenser is a bit tricky as well - it's easy to over-splurt the product.

Eye Shadow -Clinique - Color Surge Eyeshadow Quad in Plum Seduction
majanet 11/13/2005 1:17:00 PM
I've been waiting for Clinique to come back to shadow sets with violet as a focus, and this was worth the wait. The Plum Seduction quad provides great contour shades in taupe and mauve, a fun orchid and a deep burgundy plum for contrast. This set could easily be used by the most devoted Bobbi Brown fan, and give them a touch of color interest without looking like a bruise.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Youth Dew Amber Nude
majanet 11/13/2005 1:13:00 PM
I was a huge Cinnabar fan in the 80's - at the time, it was sometimes referred to as a lighter Youth Dew. I was disappointed in the reduction of product, esp the perfume, that happened in lieu of the launch of a raft of fragrances from EL. I decided to see what Tom would do with the Dew.
Let me say that Amber Nude is no less potent than YD. You're wearing a warm strong Oriental fragrance, no doubt about it. You'll wake up and still smell it on your skin, and will need good neutral soap to get it off. Luckily for me, I liked the smell on the first test run. This is not a sweet fragrance, although it was easier for me to wear than Opium - not a little bit friendlier. The packaging is really lovely - fabric-wrapped boxes, and the trademark Youth Dew bottle, with a stretch removable bronze fabric bow. (It is Tom Ford, after all. The "clothes" are meant to come off.)

Highlighters -Yves Saint Laurent - Touche Eclat No 1
majanet 11/13/2005 1:07:00 PM
After 39 years and a new baby, I've noticed I really do look better with a little help from a tube. Not different, just better. Based on reviews from the MUAers, I decided to give the most expensive concealer I have ever used a test run. I'm hooked.
What makes this a great product includes:
- Brush applicator, which makes it easier to go light and put more if needed
- no-fragrance formula with great texture
- the natural brightness it gives the face - not obvious makeup, which is a real plus if you're a light touch with makeup in the first place.

Lotions/ Creams -Weleda - Calendula Baby Lotion
majanet 11/10/2005 4:45:00 PM
This lotion is a wonderful product for babies and moms. Emollient formula that takes a bit to sink in, and a really delightful scent (if you like scent). I used this as an all-over bath lotion for my little guy, and would rub all the leftovers into my hands and arms. If you're like me, you don't always moisturise as much as you should, and this makes for a great accidental treat. Screwtop bottle is a pain, especially when dealing with a wriggler. I'd prefer a pump top.

Lipstick -Clinique - Colour Surge Butter Shine Lipstick in Rosalita
majanet 11/7/2005 2:45:00 PM
None of the ButterShine sticks are cream/matte colors - all are frosted, and glossy, but not sticky. I found these to be similar to the Different lipstick formula, with a little more luxurious texture. The duration is not great, but it feels wonderful to put on. :)
It's a good idea to use lip pencil with this formula, as I noticed bleed in all of the shades I tried.
My only complaint about the gorgeous case is how it closes. I have the feeling I'll find an open tube in my purse rsn.
Now onto the color. Rosalita is currently (11/05) only available online from clinique.com. I bought it as I like soft sheer pinks. And it is that. Great spring/summer shade for pale complexions, or for mixing as a top gloss with a darker pencil. This does bleed, but the softness of the color made it less noticeable that the other shades I purchased (crushed grape, rum kiss)
