It's a gorgeous colour . . .very bright, pure silver, like just-polished gleaming sterling. But the brush strokes . . . the brush strokes are killing me here!! Piggies are not down with the brush strokes, KWIM? ( ' (oo) ' )

I'll admit, when I put on that first coat, I was seriously underwhelmed. But I persevered! And when I started laying down coat #3 - BAM! Shiny blue magic jumping off my nails. Stunning.

Styling Products -Aquage - Beyond Shine

The holy grail! I have found it, and it is in a blue spray bottle!!! (^(oo)^)v This stuff is fantastic! In my eternal quest for more shine, I have tried many, many shine sprays, and this stuff is the real deal. I have stick-straight, thin hair, and aquage beyond shine gives me touchable, super-shiny, soft and tangle-free tresses - without weighing it down or causing it to look greasy or oily. I love it!

Conditioner -Pantene - ICE SHINE
rated 4 of 5

Pantene Ice Shine consistently, reliably gave me great hair every day. With this product and the Ice Shine shampoo, I washed, conditioned and blow-dried daily, for at least 5 years, and my hair remained soft, shiny and frizz-free. Fabulous (^(oo)^)v

Styling Products -Frederic Fekkai - Coiff Controle Ironless Straightening Balm
rated 4 of 5
luxepiggy 2/21/2011 6:29:00 PM

I use this product on my 1a hair to reduce the appearance of flyaways and make my hair look more sleek. For that purpose, it's pretty effective. I've actually also used this almost as a setting balm when I am making sockbun curls, and it works quite well for that as well, despite the name and original purpose of the product (^(oo)^) However, it can make hair a bit tacky if you apply too much, so I advise starting off with WAY less than you think you need.

Shampoo -Pantene - medium-thick hair solutions frizzy to smooth
rated 3 of 5
luxepiggy 2/21/2011 6:26:00 PM

On a scale of 1-5 (with 5 as the best): * Shine - 3 * Detangling - 4 * Softness - 4 An acceptable conditioner - not great, but decent. If your main concerns are detangling and softness, it might be worth giving this one a go. However, it doesn't do much to increase shine levels, so I don't personally plan to repurchase. I have 1a, medium, borderline i/ii East Asian hair.

Conditioner -Pantene - Nature Fusion Moisture Balance
rated 1 of 5
luxepiggy 2/21/2011 6:24:00 PM

On a 1-5 scale (5 being best) for shine, detangling and softness: * Shine - 1 * Detangling - 1.5 * Softness - 3 Ugh. This product did not work for me at all - I almost felt like I would have been better off with no conditioner at all. Even with a lot of the product in my hair, detangling/fingercombing was difficult at best. When my hair was dry, it wasn't at all shiny like it usually is. The only benefit was moderately soft texture, but there are many better products both in Pantene's and other brands' lineups. I wouldn't recommend wasting money on this one. I have 1a, medium, borderline i/ii East Asian hair.

Top/Base Coats -Christian Dior - Top Coat
rated 5 of 5
luxepiggy 2/21/2011 6:19:00 PM

Dior's top coat is second to none. It is like a tiny bottle full of miracles. It dries FASTER than Seche Vite!!!!!!!!!!!! How is that even possible? It boggles the mind, I tell you. It also wears better, and doesn't cause shrinkage. So what are you waiting for? Go buy some! (^(oo)^)v

Polishes -Christian Dior - Le Vernis - 782 Silver Purple
rated 5 of 5
luxepiggy 2/21/2011 6:12:00 PM

If I could only wear one colour on my nails for the rest of my life, I would pick Silver Purple. I love it! The colour shifts depending on the lighting - from a beautiful dark shimmery anthracite to a dusty greyed-out amethyst. In direct sunlight, tiny flecks of pink and blue microshimmer make a sparkling appearance. Gorgeous. Wears well, and has the new wedge-shaped brush for easy application too! Two thumbs up!

You can layer this over *anything* and the result will be awesome. I've had people stop talking mid-sentence and stare in silence when I had this on my nails.

Polishes -Le Metier de Beaute - Nail Polish Lacquer in Violaceous Splendor
rated 1 of 5
luxepiggy 1/19/2011 2:36:00 PM

No. Just no. Who do they think they are, Hermès?!?! This is the smallest bottle of nail lacquer in the universe. Sure, it may go on opaque in one coat, but you know what? So does Dior Vernis and it costs nearly 2x as much per ounce as the Dior. Think of those baby Estée Lauder GWP lacquers, in the little square bottles. Then refashion them so more than half the bottle is glass, rather than polish, and you got yourself a Le Metier de Beauté bottle. Why the massively thick glass bottom? I'm convinced it's there to prevent the bottle from tipping over under the weight of its own darn brush.

Polishes -Chanel - Nuit De Russie
rated 4 of 5
luxepiggy 1/19/2011 2:26:00 PM

This is a beautiful colour, even though the shimmer does not show up on the nail as much as it does in the bottle under indoor lighting. You'll see more of the shimmer in natural sunlight though, and even with indoor lighting this shade has great depth and is a wonderful choice for those who enjoy almost-blacks lacquers. However, it doesn't wear as well as the average Chanel lacquer does, for some reason.

Conditioner -Shu Uemura - Full Shimmer Illuminating Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
luxepiggy 1/19/2011 2:21:00 PM

I'm saddened to see such negative reviews of this product, because it's my new favourite! The Full Shimmer conditioner gives my hair great shine without weighing it down - it's my new must-have haircare item! My hairtype is 1a / M / i.

Tools -Shu Uemura - Eye Lash Glue
rated 5 of 5
luxepiggy 1/17/2011 3:50:00 PM

This is the only lash adhesive I'll use. I've tried others and they either make my eyes sting (*cough* DUO *cough*), don't hold as long, don't dry clear, or have a tendency to dry up even though I'm diligent about re-capping them.

Polishes -Christian Dior - Purple Revolution Nail Polish
rated 5 of 5
luxepiggy 1/17/2011 3:46:00 PM

I'm a big fan of almost-black lacquers, so Purple Revolution is right up my alley. If you're looking for an obviously purple colour you may want to try 981 Black Plum instead. As always, the application is perfect, thanks to the great Dior formula and brush!
