Brows -MAC - Penultimate Brow Marker
lucylucyhh 10/14/2010 4:48:00 PM
I really like this product! After getting bored with using an angled brush and eyeshadow powder and having it fade and smudge through the day I thought i'd give this product a go. However i have very dark eyeshadow and had to use a charcoal powder previously so the idea of one 'universal' mid-brown did concern me as i thought i'd look too light. I was happily proved wrong and this baby somehow adapts to your natural colouring! I tried it out on my lighter haired mother after i'd bought it and she commented whilst looking in the mirror; "what did she use on you then, because this is brown and yours are black". Very clever stuff! Water resistant, so doesn't smudge like other formulas might. I like the felt tip pen application and feel it's easy to use. Lovely sheerish finish so it doesn't look clown-y

Lipstick -MAC - Innocence, Beware! (Venomous Villains)
lucylucyhh 10/14/2010 4:44:00 PM
Love this lipstick! Price; suppose it's pretty expensive if you're a highstreet/drug store kinda gal, but for anyone who buys premium brands i feel it's an average if not a little cheap price to pay. Packaging; quite cute, but I feel they weren't particularly creative with the design of it i.e. just sticking her face on the side Product; a lovely, lovely nudey, pinky, beige colour. Very wearable and versatile, I cant think who this wouldn't suit. Quite sheer but is buildable. Comes out almost glossy, far from a matte colour that's for sure! Doesn't dry out my lips, contrary to reviews i've heard. Overall a classic colour which i've put in my staple makeup bag for everday use.

Powder -L'Oreal - True Match Minerals
lucylucyhh 10/14/2010 4:36:00 PM
There are quite a few bad points about the product. The main factor for me would definitely be the fact that it caused my face to itch all day long. I don't know if this is a result of the scratchy application brush or the product itself? Either way I wasn't expecting it, especially since minerals are meant to be so pure and natural and skin friendly. Secondly i thought the design of the product was stupid. You have to turn it upside down to get some of the minerals to fall through the little cover, then when you turn it back upright most fall back through the holes. And what is left is mainly little balls of clumped powder which is no good. Now in regards to what the actual product does to skin; not bad. the coverage looks and feels very light but actually does have quite an impact. Skin looks even but natural. However if you have any dry skin, like I have around my nose and t-zone, it really highlights this and makes you look flaky which isnt nice. I don't recommend, I think i'll stick to liquid foundations

Highlighters -MAC - Cream Color Base in Luna
lucylucyhh 8/24/2010 4:18:00 PM
Just a generally nice highlighter. Nice consistency, goes on easily with fingers or a dense brush, blends like a dream, stays in place and most importantly adds a dewey highlight. Nice price, slick packaging. Can be used on cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose, cupids bow, brow bone or even on the inside corners of the eyes to give a bright eyed look. Only slight downside is that the pot can get a bit mucky when you use your fingers or a brush that hasn't been recently washed which isnt nice

Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam Gaga
lucylucyhh 8/24/2010 4:01:00 PM
Packaging: The usual slick bullet shape MAC is famous for. However it's jazzed up with the red band and Gaga's signature which is a fun little twist. Price: no more expensive that any other MAC lipstick, which aren't expensive in the scheme of things. The pay off is good so they'll last a long time too. Product: Nice smooth formulation. Can be worn sheerly for a pinky wash of colour and also layers well to a completely opaque pink. The colour is lovely, if not perhaps a little pale for my liking. But still quite a nice sugary pink. Downside: The tone highlights yellow in teeth and can make them look dull and grey which im not a fan of at all. I wouldn't repurchase for this reason

Lipstick -MAC - Vegas Volt
lucylucyhh 8/24/2010 3:55:00 PM
I think i may have found a new staple lipstick. This colour is so gorgeous! Judging by reviews and pictures i've seen, this seems to look a little different on everybody, but for my pale yellow undertoned complexion it comes out as a full bodied coral with more of a red/orange look than a pink. It gives a lovely opaque heavy coverage, being as it's an amplified creme lipstick. It can however be worn in a thin layer for a less dramatic look. What i love about this colour is it's quite unusual and fun! Being young is the perfect time to wear brighter more daring colours so i wear this most days. Whilst it does make quite an impact, it's not garish at all and is really flattering on my skin tone and i imagine it would suit most. Not only does it look amazing, the texture is lovely, it has the classic vanilla smell, slick bullet packaging and it lasts too.

Mascara -Maybelline - Define A Lash
lucylucyhh 8/24/2010 9:44:00 AM
Bleeh, not worth buying in my opinion. Even if the bendiness of the wand didnt annoy me and make application fiddly i still wouldn't be a huge fan. Doesn't volumise very well and doesnt add a massive amount of length. It's okay I guess, but mascaras are getting bigger and better all the time so your bog standard 'does the job' mascara is no longer good enough, at least not for me

Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils
lucylucyhh 8/24/2010 9:39:00 AM
there are no words to describe how much i love this mascara. mascara is definitely my vice and i have scoured the highstreet and premium brands to find the perfect mascara. I like alot of length, curl, volume and seperation, so you may say im a hard customer to please. THIS MASCARA IS AMAZING. it even smells like heaven. It gives a glossy black finish, elongates your lashes to unbelievable lengths, add plents of curl and volume! Only downside is that it does dry out fairly quickly, but to be honest that doesnt bother me all that much as i'm always looking for an excuse to buy my next mascara!

Concealers -MAC - Studio Finish Concealer
lucylucyhh 8/24/2010 9:28:00 AM
I won't waffle on, but this product does the job as a concealer. Its thick consistency and high pigmentation makes it perfect for covering blemishes and hyper pigmentation. It's not vastly expensive and has good pay off so lasts a long time. The downside is that it can look a little drying so be sure to moisturise well. Also it is not suitable for the undereye area unless you want creases. I wouln't repurchase because i prefer MAC's select cover; it's more moisture rich and is more suitable for under-eye Overall it's very good as a spot/discolouration concealer

Mascara -MAC - Opulash
lucylucyhh 8/24/2010 9:21:00 AM
Don't get me wrong, I do love MAC, alot, but on the mascara front I think they could do alot better. I've found countless highstreet mascaras better than theirs which is not something you could say for the rest of their products. This mascara is decent, it does the job i suppose, lasts a long time and comes off easily enough but it's nothing special. It doesn't add a great deal in the way of length and i think the wand a little big and awkward to use. It's okay in terms of volume but it didn't offer seperation which is something i like a mascara to do (so i usually opt for comb wand mascaras) it's not terrible but it isnt amazing either

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #168 Large Angled Contour Brush
lucylucyhh 8/20/2010 2:44:00 PM
This brush is amazing; which doesn't really even need saying in regards to MAC brushes as they're all high quality, are perfect for the job they claim to be and last forever (hence why i said i wouldn't buy this product again, i won't need to) Picks up just the right amount of product, the fibres are fairly dense but very very soft. The shape is IDEAL for easily applying contouring powder under the cheekbones or indeed blush on the cheekbones. No downsides, it's not even hugely expensive

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #187 Duo Fiber Face Brush (Stippling, Skunk Brush)
lucylucyhh 8/20/2010 2:38:00 PM
I was a devoted 190 user for applying my liquid foundations, and honestly i didnt think buying the 187 was worth it because even though i'd heard great things, I didn't think it'd be any easier to use or provide better results than my previous foundation brush. I was wrong. I purchased this brush yesterday and I have to say I was actually shocked at how well it applied foundation. It's SO easy to use and effortless to apply. I didn't believe the claims that it made your skin look 'airbrushed' but I have to say it definitely does (presuming you use it with a decent foundation anyway; I use studio fix liquid) Don't let the price put you off, it's an amazing brush that also works very well applying powder. I only said 'no' to repurchasing because i'll never need to, MAC brushes last such a long time due to their quality

Blush -MAC - Band of Roses
lucylucyhh 8/9/2010 9:28:00 AM
I'm going to be honest with you, I only bought this product because it looked so beautiful. Being a very pale person i didn't think i'd be able to carry off the colours as they are very pigmented. However, used sparingly they look gorgeous and i can imagine on a more tanned complexion they'd look even nicer. I like to use the lighter blush along the cheekbone and the darker colour just below to add contouring. Very pretty but not THE most wearable shades admittedly Even so, I really like it

Crème -BeneFit Cosmetics - Some Kind-A Gorgeous
lucylucyhh 7/30/2010 9:27:00 AM
Cute packaging, granted. Reasonable price, granted. However i didnt feel the product was up to scratch. It markets itself a lighweight foundation, and i guess it is, but its so lightweight that you may aswell just wear a tinted moisturizer (and mine gives me more coverage than this product!). Annoyingly, this product isnt as creamy as it looks, and feels dry on the skin and highlights any rough dry patches which i sometimes get around my nose and cheeks being combination skinned. In my opinion, don't bother with this product unless you have perfect complexion that gets oily, because this wont give most people sufficient coverage and will dry your skin out

Lip Gloss -BeneFit Cosmetics - California Kissin'
lucylucyhh 7/30/2010 9:23:00 AM
This lipgloss is brilliant. The blue undertones, as claimed, really do make teeth appear whiter and in turn that makes the complexion look more radiant i feel. It's glittery which is nice in a gloss and it's not too sticky. The only downside is that the chunks of glitter feel a bit gritty on your lips and the gloss doesnt last a very long time. However that's fine because i LOVE the minty taste of it so much i'm more than happy to reapply. Overall a flattering teeth whitening lipgloss that i imagine would look good on all skintones (smells and tastes nice too which is always a bonus)
