Primer/ Corrector -E.L.F. - Mineral Infused Face Primer
loveandlilac 12/5/2012 7:03:00 PM
I bought this over the summer on a whim at Target after I ran out of my Laura Mercier sample, and did not like it at all after the first use. It went straight to the bottom of my makeup drawer. A few days ago I found it and decided to give it another try; come to find out I love it! The pump is nice (even if it does malfunction) and the staying power is great. I have extremely sensitive skin and get oily on my nose, and this didn't break me out and keeps me matte all day long. I wear MAC sf NC15 and use this beforehand, and my foundation doesn't budge. I was quite surprised for $6 how well this worked. I kind of notice the smell but once it's rubbed in all the way, it disappears. I did my makeup around 1 this afternoon, its 7 o'clock and I just touched my face and NO oil/shine! Still completely dry and fresh. Good stuff.

Mascara -Smashbox - Full Exposure
loveandlilac 6/26/2012 4:38:00 PM
For $20, I expected nothing but fantastic lashes that looked false. This was in the Sephora best mascara shelf and the mua recommended it. I just put it on this morning after curling my lashes and was pretty disappointed. I like a big brush, but this thing is a weapon! Way too big for anyone with normal sized eyes. It's so huge I can't get to the lashes near the tear duct. The mascara itself is a nice black but didn't dramatically lengthen or accentuate my lashes. And for the price I expected it to. This isn't any better than drugstore brands with big brushes. Severely disappointed, smashbox.

Hair -Paul Mitchell - Awaphui Moisture Mist
loveandlilac 5/25/2012 1:47:00 PM
Went to Paul Mitchell the School, so I was forced to use entirely PM products. I can say I absolutely hate them all except for Moisture Mist. This is the only one I would recommend. Alot of reviewers are saying it doesn't necessarily moisturize, but I've found the best purpose for it is right before you're about to go outside on a humid/sticky day. Hair is constantly seeking moisture and once the cuticle is infused with the air outside, it coils and raises, causing frizz. The best way to prevent it even on those horrible summer days is to lightly spray hair from mid-shaft to end and brush or comb through. NO frizz. I'm telling you. Also great to spray on your pillowcase before bed to prevent tangling and dryness while sleeping.

Liquid -Korres - Wild Rose Foundation
loveandlilac 5/25/2012 12:17:00 AM
I had a similar experience to the reviewer below. I was looking for something new for the winter since I am ALWAYS the lightest shade of any brand. The MUA at Sephora recommended this Korres foundation because I told her I was looking for a more matte look, with maybe a slight glow but NOT a shimmer/shine. She put a little on my chin and it seemed to match and look okay under the blaring fluorescent light they have on either side of the makeup chair mirrors. I bought the extremely small $32 bottle which she convinced me was worth it. The next day, I prepped, primed, concealed and then applied. To my horror, I looked in the mirror after it dried and saw my face was totally orange (complete with that lovely division line at the jaw.) Not to mention, this foundation does give quite the dewy look, and without powder it just looks like an oil slick. I was mortified and had to start over on my face routine. I returned it the next day to the same snotty woman. Ugh, Korres is a no for me.

Scrubs -St. Ives - Apricot Scrub Blemish and Blackhead Control
loveandlilac 5/24/2012 12:11:00 AM
Best face wash award for sure ! I have extremely sensitive, fair skin. Never had a problem with acne, thanks to this stuff! Amazing scent, leaves my face fresh, keeps blackheads and blemishes away for sure. It's grainy but it helps to thoroughly wet the cloth/pouf to lessen the roughness. I love the beads and the way this scrubs-it completely removes all of my makeup (not an easy job on my more creative days.) I've been using this for about 5 or 6 years and have received compliments on my skin ever since. The best way to get ideal results is to get your skin into a routine and stick to it. This scrub is a must have, especially for those with full coverage/liquid foundations.

Gels/Soaps -Softsoap - Ultra Rich Shea Butter Body Wash
loveandlilac 5/23/2012 11:50:00 PM
My absolute favorite body wash, ever. Creamy, wonderful lather, leaves a pleasant scent and rinses clean. I've got extremely acne-prone skin on my chest/back so it's rare I find something I can use without getting a reaction. Ive even gotten compliments on my skin from using this-both on the smoothness and the glow it gives me. Not to mention it cleared up and prevented my body acne. Couldn't be happier!

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
loveandlilac 5/22/2012 1:29:00 AM
UD, what IS this??? I could go on and on about the strange packaging (which I know they've since fixed). Awkwardly long brush scrapes out a minuscule amount of dry, waxy almost clay-like primer. By the time it's on my lids, there's no point of applying shadow, it just resists. I still get creasing no matter what brand/type I use. Doesn't work for matte shadows, and shimmers, forget it. Felt like I paid for something that should have been fabulous, and it wasn't.

Lipstick -MAC - Russian Red
loveandlilac 5/22/2012 1:09:00 AM
Lovestruck. Simply put. The best all purpose, every day and special occasion red. Smooth, creamy, doesn't move as long as a primer and liner are used. Pulls cool on me because my lips are naturally pigmented. Looks fabulous against NC15 SF foundation. The trick is to apply with a fine lipstick brush, or else all bets are off and there's going to be red all over your face. A must for a forties look...or really any look for that matter. Russian Red is perfect.

Highlighters -BeneFit Cosmetics - High Beam
loveandlilac 5/22/2012 1:04:00 AM
The first time I bought this was a few years ago and I fell in LOVE. Not only did I dab a bit on my cheeks for a dewy highlight, I actually became obsessed with it because it made a FANTASTIC, and I mean fantastic, eyeshadow primer. I was putting it on my cheeks one day and thought what the hell, I'll see what it does for my lids. It seriously surpasses any actual shadow primers I've used before. I loved, loved, loved it and the little bottle lasted me 2 years. Here's my beef with it though. Since then, I went to Benefit and purchased HB again, THEY CHANGED THE FORMULA! No wonder the reviewers on here don't seem to favor it, it's completely different than I remember. High Beam is so thick and strange now, the color pulls really weird pinkish and splotchy:( not at all the product I remember. I don't know what they do differently but this had nothing that needed change! Disappointed.

Liquid -MAC - Mineralize Satinfinish SPF 15 Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
loveandlilac 5/22/2012 12:48:00 AM
I hate to be writing a bad review for a MAC product-but this is truly horrendous. This is the only product of theirs that I really cannot stand or find another use for. I usually use the Studio Fix fluid, and thought I would try something else because I'm so fair and the SF was pulling yellow on me. I brought it home, primed, and applied how I usually do. Boy was I shocked, and not in a good way. I don't even know what kind of "coverage" this is supposed to offer. This just looked like I applied shiny, oily lotion all over my face, with my redness showing through. I had to load on powder after to even get this to look just okay. I returned it the next day because I couldn't even come up with a creative way to mix this or anything. Sad. Sorry MAC :(

Lipstick -Revlon - Siren
loveandlilac 5/22/2012 12:42:00 AM
I got this before I bought my highly coveted M'orange by MAC. I love a great orange lip, but Siren really disappoints. Even with a lip conditioner or primer but on beforehand, it applies streaky as hell and has awful color payoff. Even for a drugstore brand, this is pretty disappointing. I tried concealer and foundation on my lips before applying, used a liner and a lip brush and STILL it just looks weird. I wanted to like this, but I'll stick to MAC shades from now on.

Primer/ Corrector -Laura Mercier - Foundation Primer Oil -Free
loveandlilac 5/22/2012 12:39:00 AM
Got this as a sample at Sephora in a little tube. I was surprised when I found that a little bit goes a LONG way. That tiny sample ended up lasting me 3 weeks-a month and I wear foundation every day. Packaging was HORRID, but I'm not sure if that was because I just happened to get a weird tube. The cap would not unscrew until i ran it under hot water and tried several times. All of this trouble ended up being worth it-this is the HG of foundation primers. Mattified my face but also gave it a glow at the same time: an extremely difficult thing to accomplish. Even the slipperiest of foundations (ala Photoready) stayed on all day and didn't budge. I'm not sure how much a full size of this costs but based on other reviews I'll guess it's expensive, but I'd consider buying.
