Polishes -Zoya - Lael
lizxphile 2/22/2010 4:42:00 PM
This was my first Zoya purchase (I got a few colors) and I tried this out first. I love it! Goes on nicely, dried to a gorgeous plummy color. I put on the sparkle topcoat over it however, which I wish I hadn't done - I think this color would love much nicer with a clear topcoat. Next time I'll skip the sparkle... but it's a great color. It looks a little dark when not in direct light, but the plum really pops out in sunlight. I uploaded a few pictures to my profile.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Fruit of the Earth - Cocoa Butter Lotion
lizxphile 2/20/2010 1:21:00 PM
I have only been able to find this at Walmart and thank god they haven't discontinued it. This is my HG body lotion! Smells nice, goes on smooth & moisturizes just enough for me - absorbs nicely, doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy. I even use this on my face! At the price, this is by far the best lotion I've found besides Nutraderm, which I don't think exists anymore. I'll keep buying this as long as it's made.

Eyeliner -New York Color - Eye Liner Pencil
lizxphile 2/20/2010 1:07:00 PM
So... I realized one day I wanted black eyeliner & didn't have any. My current favorite eyeliner has been the MAC eye kohl pencil, which is nice & soft and goes on very nicely, but it's pricey & I can't buy it closeby. I bought this NYC pencil at CVS for a buck thinking maybe I could get a use or two out of it. WRONG. I started using the MAC eye kohl because it was soft and I didn't have to scrape my eye to get it to work. With this pencil, I had to really scrape it on & it hurts. It didn't go on very nicely or evenly either. I actually just ended up wiping it off & using something else. This just teaches me to buy cheap makeup... I'm sure it works just fine for some people, but I won't be buying liner pencils from this brand again. If they have a soft kohl pencil maybe I'll try it, but this pencil was awful for me.

Conditioner -Aussie - Hair Insurance Leave In Conditioner
lizxphile 2/20/2010 12:58:00 PM
I bought this to try and get my frizzies/flyaways under control. My hair is pretty straight and not really thick, but when I wash it and it dries (either air or blow dry), it never ends up smooth and has lots of flyaways. This spray conditioner does wonders! The bottle tells you to use it when your hair is damp. I don't do that: I blow dry my hair, then spray a fine mist of this onto it. It keeps it smooth and mostly flyaway/frizz free! As some other reviews pointed out, if you use too much and spray it on too thick, your hair will get kind of greasy feeling and looking, so I use just enough to smooth it down and it looks great for the whole day. It also smells nice :) Will definitely continue to buy this.

Polishes -OPI - Bogota Blackberry
lizxphile 2/20/2010 12:52:00 PM
Got this on sale at a local salon, was looking for a nice dark red which I wouldn't normally wear, and this looked perfect. It's really nice! Put two coats on then a topcoat, it's a beautiful burgundy red, not too bright, not too dark. Good fall or holiday red. Would buy again!

Moisturizers -Avon - True Pore-Fection Oil-Free Skin-Clearing Lotion
lizxphile 2/20/2010 12:43:00 PM
I have been using this lotion for a few years now. As a moisturizer, it isn't fantastic - almost feels a bit sticky when it's put on, doesn't absorb really well. I use it mostly as a spot treatment when I see a pimple coming, and it works pretty decently to prevent pimples from getting bad and make them disappear quickly. I only use it as a whole-face moisturizer if I have a serious breakout going on, and for super stubborn nightmare pimples I would use a stronger treatment (this lotion is only .5% salicylic acid). Overall for the purpose I use it for, I like it. I don't go through it quickly so one bottle lasts a while.

Eyeliner -MAC - Teddy eye kohl
lizxphile 2/19/2010 5:54:00 PM
I love the MAC eye kohl pencils, and Teddy is one of my favorite colors. It's a nice, shiny medium brown and I wear it with gold, tan, red, brown, pinky, etc shadows, it goes with a lot of different colors. My eyes are hazel to light brown with some gold in them and this liner makes them pop real nicely. Will definitely buy again when it runs out.

Eyeliner -MAC - Rosemary and Thyme eye kohl
lizxphile 2/19/2010 5:51:00 PM
It took me FOREVER to find a good quality eyeliner that I could apply well and that didn't hurt going on. The MAC eye kohl is AMAZING! Rosemary & Thyme was the first color I got & I love it. It's a goldy-green that looks great with my Summer Neutral shadow (also a goldy-green) and other neutral shadow colors. I have no complaints & will buy another when this one runs out.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Midnight Cowboy Rides Again
lizxphile 2/19/2010 5:46:00 PM
This was my first Urban Decay purchase, have had it for about a year now. I love it! I didn't buy it for color, I bought it for the glitter, and it certainly delivers. It goes great over almost any other color to add a nice sparkle. I took one lippy off because it does get everywhere on my face, and I kinda wish it would stay on my eyes. Not a big enough problem for me to not buy it again though.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Trax
lizxphile 6/10/2006 7:39:00 PM
I bought this yesterday and wore it today - I absolutely love the color! Purples are usually my color, and while I've been trying to get new colors to experiment with, this just jumped out at me, and I had to get it. It's plummy with a coppery shimmer and it's gorgeous. The only problem I have (still giving it 5 lippies though) is that it seemed to fade quickly. I wore it with Summer Neutral today, and the SN lasted longer than the Trax. I may just try putting it on a little darker next time and see how it goes. Most excellent color though!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Summer Neutral eye shadow--Sundressing collection
lizxphile 5/28/2006 1:11:00 PM
I bought this on a whim a few weeks ago while browsing the MAC counter at Macy's - the girl put some on me, and it looked decent, so I picked it up. I was looking for something besides the purples I usually wear on my eyes - wasn't sure at first how I'd like it, but I love it now! I've been wearing it with a bronzy Maybelline cool effect liner/shadow I have and it looks fantastic! Would like to buy another shade from this collection to pair it with.... makes my hazely eyes look very greeny-yellow. Highly recommended!

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil in Chianti [DISCONTINUED]
lizxphile 10/29/2005 2:21:00 AM
Bought this a while ago because it was a nice color to go with some eyeshadow I had, just tried it for real today... first off, looked great! Was a bit smudgy in my lashes but I fixed that up, and second, it stayed on very well for 10 hours of work! (just a desk job, but still lol). Will definitely try this in some other shades.

Lip Gloss -Avon - Kiss Resist Liquid Lip Color
lizxphile 5/8/2005 12:25:00 AM
Bought some of this in some plummy-color, and it's just like the Max Factor Lipfinity stuff, which I don't like! It feels weird and tastes pretty yucky and peels off weirdly.. I'll try some of the regular glaze wear lip gloss and hope for better results.

Lip Gloss -Victoria's Secret - Mirror Mirror Shiny Lip Gloss-Plum Wine
lizxphile 11/14/2004 11:55:00 PM
I Got a sample of five or six colors of the VS mirror mirror lip gloss, and I like this one the best by far! At first it looked too dark, but when I put it on it was a perfect plummy color without being too dark. I plan on buying a whole pot of this eventually, it's a beautiful color.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
lizxphile 11/14/2004 11:52:00 PM
Bought the CVS-brand version of this cleanser on the recommendation of a friend. It irked me a bit at first because it didn't seem to rinse off cleanly, but then I did realize that it's OK to leave some on your face, as it's a great moisturizer. I alternate using this and my Neutrogena blackhead clearing scrub (which doesn't do much for blackheads, but I like it); this is a nice gentle relief if the scrub gets to be too much. Will buy again, but the store brand to save money :-p
