Shampoo -Charles Worthington - Dream Hair
rated 2 of 5

Smells very perfume-y and was worse than doing nothing - it dried my hair out a lot. Not only that, but the packaging is pretty difficult with a cylinder shape and cap, so you have to leave it on a ledge and pump out, because it's pretty difficult to use otherwise. Decided to throw it out instead of finishing it.

Lip Gloss -Stila - Black Cherry Lip Glaze
rated 4 of 5

I originally thought this color was way too dark for me, but then that was because I've been brainwashed into wearing only pale colors for oh, the last couple of years. But with all these bold reds and darker shades coming out, I decided to give it a try for the "night" look, and it's amazing! It's a berry plum color, that looks really pretty on almost everyone. I have black hair, dark eyes, light/medium skin with yellow undertones, and I always get compliments when I wear this gloss. I had my friend who's a natural red head with very fair skin try it, it looked amazing on her too! This review is solely for the color, because I still think the Stila lipglosses are a little sticky for me, but I will buy it again for the great color.

Eye Makeup Remover -Neutrogena - Oil Free eye makeup remover
rated 4 of 5
lillian1717 2/20/2009 12:11:00 AM

Surprisingly oil-free, even though the product looks like half oil, half water. I've tried many other brands, but find myself coming back to this one for the third time now! Takes off even the toughest of my waterproof mascara and eyeliner. It takes a little more patience than the "oil" versions like Cliniques Take the Day Off, but the extra 30 seconds is worth it to not have all the grease/oil smeared everywhere around my eyes. I flip it onto the cotton pad twice quickly, and I find it's enough for both eyes (primer potion, shadow, waterproof liner, waterproof mascara). Trick is to just hold over each eye for a few seconds before wiping so that the remover gets a chance to 'dissolve' some of the makeup first so you're not tearing your eyelashes out! Definitely recommended!

Mascara -Smashbox - Mascara
rated 2 of 5
lillian1717 2/20/2009 12:05:00 AM

Fortunately, I got the Smashbox Bionic Mascara as part of a kit - Unfortunately, it's not very good. The tube is square-ish, and the brush itself has a helix like shape that spirals. It smears, flakes into my eyes and cause stinging, and it doesn't do much of anything (hold a curl, lenghthen or volumize). So all in all, it's kind of a nay for me.

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Ecru NY Sunlight hairspray
rated 2 of 5
lillian1717 1/13/2009 3:40:00 PM

Found this hairspray to be just a bit "too" light. It barely works to pin my bangs back, and they end up just flopping back to as if I hadn't used anything at all. In fact, it doesn't even keep flyaways in place. It's really meant for the lightest of light jobs. If that....

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Define-A-Line Eyeliner in Ebony Black
rated 2 of 5
lillian1717 1/12/2009 9:02:00 PM

Nice black color, with a sponge tip at the other end AND a sharpener - but even with my heavy duty UDPP, this stuff still smeared all day long. Awful, awful, awful.

Top/Base Coats -Essie - To Dry For
rated 3 of 5
lillian1717 1/6/2009 10:02:00 PM

I like this top coat because it really does dry the polish very fast. The negative part is that nails look a little dull and this top coat just doesn't do well in the "shine" department. Probably won't buy again because I know there are better top coats out there...

Lipstick -Revlon - Creme de la Chrome - Berry Flashy
rated 3 of 5
lillian1717 1/6/2009 9:55:00 PM

The texture is pretty good, creamy and very very long lasting. In fact, it leaves a stain if you try to wipe it off. This color in particular is a prettier berry color with a metallic sheen to it, but probably not a good one for everyday.

Lipstick -Revlon - Creme de la Chrome - Plum Appeal
rated 2 of 5
lillian1717 1/6/2009 9:53:00 PM

This stuff is serious. Seriously dark, that is. And do NOT make a mistake, because the color really leaches into your skin! I feel like this cream gloss would have been better had the color choices been more subtle, but this "plum" color goes way behind dark/goth. eeks!

Lip Gloss -C.O. Bigelow - Mentha Lip Shine
rated 5 of 5
lillian1717 1/6/2009 11:46:00 AM

Great shine, silky texture, not sticky and minty fresh! I like that even if your lips are dry and flaky, you can't feel it under this. It has petroleum as the second ingredient, so it's a protectant even though it's a "lip shine." I find it keeps my lips more moisturized than a lot of other lipbalms like chapstick and nivea.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Patina (Frost)
rated 5 of 5
lillian1717 1/6/2009 11:42:00 AM

I've bought this eyeshadow twice, not thinking initially that I would even get through one. Granted, the reason I had to buy the second one was because the first one was almost finished and ended up cracking when I dropped it - but regardless, it's a really great basic color to wear alone or layered. It shows up very neutral without too much shimmer.

Gels/Soaps -Sephora - Vanilla Cupcake Bath & Shower Bubbles
rated 3 of 5
lillian1717 12/22/2008 4:09:00 PM

Got this as my "birthday" gift for being a Beauty Insider at Sephora...I like the lather, and I really like the scent - for as long as it lasts. It almost smells like an almond vanilla butter (well, birthday cake), but it just doesn't last after the first minute of lathering. The packaging isn't great as other reviewers noted. Difficult flimsy snap cap, stiff body and doesn't squeeze out very well either. Glad I got it for free, but probably will not buy myself.

Eye Makeup Remover -Unlisted Brand - Bionova Eye Makeup Remover
rated 1 of 5
lillian1717 12/22/2008 4:03:00 PM

So this is the only Bionova product that I found has not performed well. I use everything from face cleanser to massage to activator and stress-cream, but this is just a no go for me. Mainly because it's predominant purpose (remove makeup) just doesn't happen. I tried rubbing, leaving it on for a bit, everything, but it just doesn't take off my eyeliner or mascara. This basically means I have to go back and use regular makeup remover, making this product pointless. I'll just save the money for this and put it towards the eye cream...!

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Bionova - Anti-Stress Cream
rated 5 of 5
lillian1717 12/19/2008 1:32:00 PM

Very very expensive, a 0.5 ounce jar costs $75 - but after 4 weeks of use, I have to say that my skin has never felt like this, ever. When the Bionova lady at the counter showed me how much I was supposed to use, I was VERY skeptical, but it really does the job. It's hard to explain the feeling, but it's like having perfectly balanced skin. Everything else I've used (Chanel, La Mer, Kiehls, Shu, Shiseido, etc) is always either too light, too greasy, or just plain too irritating. I realized how great Bionova's cream was because my face is not dry, not shiny (which it has been for my entire life), never itchy - so for once in my life, I go through the entire day not thinking about my skin because it feels and looks perfect. Just very well nourished and balanced, with nothing extra to sit on my skin!

Lip Gloss -GOSH - 0064 Lip Gloss
rated 4 of 5
lillian1717 12/17/2008 2:05:00 PM

I was in a Shoppers Drug mart and randomly decided to pick up some new glosses. GOSH is slightly more expensive than the typical drug store brand (these were $12 CAN) but the texture and packaging is really nice. This particular color is a sparkly deep red. Kind of a "festive" color. Though the shade looks bright both in the tube and tested on the hand, it's actually a pretty sheer sparkly red when actually on the lips. I've found it's a great way to wear color without it be "too" bold.
